  • The speed and power Lin achieves is incredible. If he can continue to play like this as he ages, he will be a beast and future world no. 1

  • Due to many unforced errors, Truls has no chance. It's unfortunate to face Lin so early, but if Truls wants to win a tournament, he needs to improve his overall game

  • Lin Shidong is the future. He is still improving, becoming more consistent. When he is playing well, he’s unbeatable.

  • Truls actually played pretty good, but he got overpowered. This performence would have been enough against many other players, Lin shindong is though a tough opponent to play against this early in the tournament :/

    • True, Truls tried his best. Unforced error came from Lin's quick reaction. Lin returned many hard to return balls, especially the back hand one.

  • Extremely unlucky draw for Truls to face someone like Lin that early

    • You won't become the best if you can't handle good players. Its sad that european players count on luck to get good results (not face a chinese player early). Also this game and previous tournaments rly shows that truls stagnated.

    • @@justaguy5762 let's be honest Europe doesn't have the pool of players to choose from, nor the investment in facilities and training, that China has. China takes TT seriously, Europe does not to the same degree. For instance in my country Ireland (obviously not a serious TT country) it's basically viewed as a nerd / joke sport, more 'manly' sports such as rugby, gaelic football, boxing and hurling are taken seriously here. The image of TT needs to change. But I think in Europe many clubs are more interested in making money for themselves (at least my club is) rather than driving the brand and image of the sport, which is a pity coz it's a great sport. Agree Truls has stagnated, he's a good player on his day but never rated him too highly myself.

    • @@mryan4452 true, europe isn't invested in table tennis. At least it seems to become more popular last few years, so maybe it will change in the next years. But until then China will win everything. Even Asian non chinese players don't bring that much competition.

  • Truls gets on the back foot just a little too often. Which at this level isn't enough. Felix is the a better example of trying to stay offensive at all times.

  • The blueprint for Truls vs the chinese is the back half of game 3. Attack, attack, attack then attack some more. When you get to a certain level the tricks are simply not effective.

    • Are you serious?😂😂 We need so much more emotional moments during the game, no robots playing point after point without showing anything... most yellow cards these days are completely ridicolous.

    • @@RonnyITY No need to smash the ball to give us entertainment. But right, it does not deserve a yellow card.

    • @@philippelepage1609 Of course, you don't need emotional outbursts to provide entertainment. I was referring to the fact that virtually every human reaction is immediately punished with a yellow card. This simply makes the games extremely sterile and characterless to watch. Compared to the amateur game in which most of us are involved, this is unthinkable.

  • As much as I like watching Truls, he is just too slow to handle the pressure the Chinese players exert close to the table… He either needs to get better at this, or he needs to find a way to slow them down.
