  • Dude - I’ve learned a lot from some of these other channels like Sparky channel, Electrician U, etc. but your video was THEE ONKY one that was the best explanation on the star and how to bend it correctly. You took the time to explain it the best and it made sense for a total beginner like myself. Just wanted to thank you for helping me have a successful night in the shop and I really appreciate how well you explained it. Keep on keeping on 🤘🏼👍🏼💪🏻🤙🏻👊🏻

  • Mr. Mountaineer, Thank you so much. The star technique is exactly what I needed to create a rectangular "hoop"for a construction. With your guidance, I nailed it!! On the money! I think the star technique is something that is relevant to a lot of DIY people and might be a good subject to concentrate on for another video instead of mentioning it at the end. I mean, what's a "back bender" to a novice?? Thanks again.

  • Back in the olden days, I almost bought an exhaust tube bender. It came with a set of cards that would give you diameter, length of pipe and degrees of each bend. You'd take a straight piece, cut it to length and then make markings where each bend would go. You'd clamp a protractor on the end closest to you and start feeding the pipe in to the first mark and make your bend the required degrees. Then, you'd unclamp the pipe, feed it in to the next mark and then rotate it the degrees as given on the card. Then, unclamp and feed in to the 3rd mark, rotating again the degrees indicated on the card and bend it the required degrees. What would come out the end is a zig-zag that "usually" fit perfectly. Adding y's were a bit tougher as two pieces, separately bent had to be welded PROPERLY and at the right angle.

    • If you want to put a short 90° on a long stick of pipe (90% of your 90°s) it's less ideal to use the star because you have to bend the full 10ft up into the air. The back of the bend method is ideal for making the last 90° on a stick of pipe with multiple bends.
