"That isn't morally right" and "There's enough money in the world to make a decent honest profit". I agree. Good man.
That is the way ALL car dealers should do business, politicians should take a leaf out of you moral book buddy…. You are the definition in the dictionary for honesty and integrity…. Good for you Matt
I already liked this guy but now... man, just keep this way
But the VAT man disagrees 😡
"There's indeed enough money in the world to go around". I totally agree. 1M Sub for High Peak Auto in 2023.
What is the lever on the inside of the driver’s seat backrest?
Well done Matt - you are single-handedly trying to put the second hand car industry on the right track. Please don't give up if you start to struggle; we all need you to succeed.
I wish more car traders were as honest as you
I’m a car trader. Very transparent. Tell people what they’re getting and any problem. Money back. Motor trade is slowly improving. 18 years into job it is a slow gradual improvement. Many an honest decent trader these days. Alas some bad eggs ruin the meal for all still.
That has nothing to do with honesty. Honesty =/= not being frank.
Yes, wouldn't it be refreshing?
Cars bit of a contradiction. Red piping on suede style seats, amg mats and wheels like it was a sport plus not se
I wish people in general would be like that.
A car dealer with a heart ! You restore my faith in humans. Well done sir. Your videos are a must watch
Thanks 👍
He must be truly unique
Absolutely love your attitude towards morality, well done, wish everyone was like that 👍
So do I. Sadly that isnt the world we live in. I think it's only going to get worse as people become less religious
@@HighPeakAutos oh no, pls don't bring religion into it, i dont give a damn about religion and i'm not a bad lad. won't stop me watching your stuff tho, its great✌
Agreed but you really don't need to be religious to have a good moral compass.
@@simonkeay738 👍thats what im getting at
@@simonkeay738but the compass points you have derive from religion and his entire point is that people are accountable only to themselves if secular
Well done on not ripping off the old bloke. Wish there were more people like you in the world and hopefully the car sells quickly for the full price. Another great video and proves that there still are decent people out there.
When my Dad and I were in the boat sales business, we worked on the concept of trying to sell your 2nd boat, not your first. Ripping someone off is easy to do once, but growing a reputable business allows you to sell many times over. Good man, speaks a lot of your character. I love these types of project videos too. It's almost like a 10 minute wheeler dealer episode. Here's what you bought, what you did, what you sold it for etc.
That’s a great point
Old out yer and
That's so good to hear Matt, honesty is the best policy. I really do admire you for that. Great video as always Matt.
Hi Matt, I'm very impressed with your principles & how you treat your customers. I wish others in your line of work had a similar approach to what is morally correct. Also really impressed with the end result of this Mercedes......I hope you find a good home for It! Keep up the great work 👍
Matt this is why we like you , honesty is the best policy as my mum would say , if only all car dealers was the same , great job 👍
love the openness and honesty. wish there were more sellers like you round my area.
Good for you - I have been watching your videos for a while now and I appreciate your honesty and hard work..happy 2023!
Your sense of honesty and fairness is refreshing and promotes a positive image of your profession. The Merc looks really good after its "makeover" and should find a new owner who can be proud of it.
So refreshing Matt. Many moons ago I was sent on a Professional Selling Skills course. I remember very clearly being advised that a good deal was one that pleased both parties. If everyone acted that way in life, how much better the world would be. I commend your attitude. Well done sir!
Fabulous to see and hear such heart-warming business ethos. Was in the Auto Sales Consultancy business with my business partner for 35 years and we preached exactly that to all our clients. We did get some strange looks and 'behind the hand sniggers' from the uninformed, as I guess you do. But truth and honesty always wins - the good word gets round and customers come back again. Great video, thanks for posting.
Honesty and integrity will always be the highest values for a good man and a good professional and you have both. Kudos Matt!
The World needs more people that think and act like you Matt. Followed you for years and you are an inspiration. Honesty, decency and a fantastic sense of humour cost nothing but are priceless qualities. Keep up the great work.
Matt is always the honest trader ever. I love the W204 C class facelift,i just love it to death and its design! Great video as always Matt! :D
Fantastic way to start the day with a new Highpeak video. And, my favourite era of mercedes, I've actually just gone from a 2021 330e to a 2014 E class coupe (opt out scheme) so this one and its transformation are very familiar to me. Excellent work! Keep going. 🥳
Ive been watching your channel for some time now & i really like your choice of cars. I also like the way you conduct yourself on your channel as in my experience most car dealers are only out to fleece customers for all they can get. So i take my hat off to you sir for that. If i was in the market to buy a good used car i would be checking you out. Also i would highly recommend to my friends & colleagues if they were thinking of buying too. Thanks again for your videos & keep them coming.
What an amazing fella, it's a pity that there's not more people in this world like you! Well done!!!
There are ! He’s not the only person with a moral compass you know - try it yourself 🙄
Keep the good work up Matt love the vids and your take on life good ethics and a cracking watch as well
Realy good job, and you are made for the camera man !! your presence in front of the camera, It's so captivating. Good content and good presentation. Thank you.
There are a lot of people in this world that could learn from that first 2 minutes 13 seconds of this video. Wouldn't the world be a better place!! Thanks so much for your honesty Matt
Always fun to see what turns up next. Nice review video with great ideas, very much appreciated you make your personal motivation known so if inclined to, we all can learn.
Thanks. I appreciate that!
I have watched most of your videos and I like the way you are honest about the way you operate. Used car dealers have a bad reputation but your videos explain the rationale behind how they make money (and why they are entitled to do so) very well. All used car dealers have a right to make a profit/living and most private sellers would not have the means/contacts to do what you do viz a viz improving cars and making them ready for sale. You guys make the used car buying experience easier; that's your job and you should be paid for it. Keep the videos coming
Matt , Thank you for your honesty- and your cracking videos . 😊
Nice to see the same car as mine on the channel! The car is very much at home on the faster sweeping twisting roads around Buxton where you take your cars (motorways too) handles superbly and effortlessly. Very good car in the snow (even better with snow socks)… it’s nicely balanced. Good to hear someone else values good morals and ethics 👍
Matt, what a refreshing view on doing business, shame so few share that simple honest approach. You deserve every success
Agreed. He deserves his business to grow; seriously considering going to Matt for my next car.
It is so heartwarming to hear of your honesty and decency. Great work.
You are too kind
Well done matt, I really love the shape off these Mercedes. Great video as always. All the best Andy
Hi Matt once again a great video. Also like the added touch (around 2.15 mins) of commenting on other drivers - something many of us are guilty of😀 Maybe build this in occasionally? Keep up the good work.
I normally cut this sort of thing out but I can leave it in if you like it haha
@@HighPeakAutos we really do , straight face jokes always work hahh
£380 for that wheel job is pretty good value, the transformation to the wheels and the car overall is worth every penny of that and some! Love your outlook on things, there is nothing wrong with wanting to make a profit, especially as a business but there is definitely enough money for everyone to make a profit without needing to rip each other off. The world definitely needs a lot more of that mentality in it!
£380 (I guess it's no VAT) is very good price if this is for all 4 wheels.
cost me 511 for 4 mondeo wheels to be refurbished...
Quite hefty tbf it’s £55-£65 a wheel where I live.
What a champ. You deserve all the good thats coming to you!
wtt an honest man! Subbed and respect to you!
Thats why this is one of my go to channels on this type of content. Transparency and honesty. Good man. Top work
Thanks!
Transparency is a bad idea if you negotiate a price.
The business world is still liveable and doable thanks to ethical and honest folks like you Matt, here's hoping more people realise cut throat competition doesn't necessarily have to be on the demise of an honest penny. Your videos are a must watch 👍
Thanks!
Brill video, as usual Matt. Keep them coming.
This another great video, full of hints and tips and more importantly honesty, thanks Matt 👍
I like that you covered the number plate screws with plastic caps. So many mercs don't have these and it always looks awful
We need more people like mat honest and trying to earn a humble living Another great video mat Best luck for the future
Thanks. Same to you
Matt, you are a genuinely nice person, I wish more car traders were as honest as you. Fair play and good luck with your business ventures
Keep doing what you’re doing the world needs more people like you
Your humour gets better on every video. 👍 Seriously I have no idea how you have time to do everything you do. Fair play. You must be one of the most honest car traders going. Keep it up fella.
Thanks!
If you've got knackered diamond-cut alloys, always worth looking at powder coating, Matt. They can replicate the two-tone effect using High Power Silver in lieu of the diamond-cut finish, and then colour match the darker shade - looks pretty much OEM and much more durable. Nice turn-around on this one! 👍
Most smart repairs at dealers just paint or blow in diamond cut wheels now
Good result Matt - when I first saw the headline, I thought you were going to discover a rotted-out rear subframe as these seem to suffer in that area (as a friend recently found out). Mercedes have been covering them on a goodwill basis however (shhhh)! Thanks for sharing as always 👍
Thumbed up 👍 and credit where it's due, an excellent job on the car! Spanker✨
Its great that Matt doesn't want to rip people off, but also wants to make sure the car is properly repaired and restored for a sale.
Matt you seem like a good guy. Thank you for fighting the used-car dealer stereotype by being honest. If I was in England I’d gladly do some business with you!
Thanks!
Being transparent has nothing to do with honesty. You have no obligation to tell someone what you think something is worth.
I like your vids in this style, they are easy to watch and honest. Keep the style.
I’ve always loved this car, and I really like your honesty always ❤
Great video, as an ex Mercedes owner I really liked the facelifted C class a country mile improvement over the old pre facelift one. Keep up the good work we need more open and honest traders like you!
And the start stop system fucks up the chain faster ,had same AMG merc very reliable ,bit always kept the stop/start system off
I like the fact that with older or new you can swap out stuff
It's a nice car, but they could have done the tail lights and trunk shape a bit better. Im not saying it's ugly, but it could have been much better
@@MK-ys2vz I kind of agree with you it’s almost like there’s too much taper going on. Plus what does annoy me slightly is that tail lights are LED however the brake lights arnt, it’s a tiny complaint I know but still
Hi from NZ Been watching for a long time now, love your clarity, business sense and honesty. Carry on the great work!
I just got myself a 2015 version of one of these, so must be just before the new version came out. It's the 220d that I had remapped, it's very nicely specced with pan roof, heated seats, sat nav etc. So comfy to cruise along in and has plenty of grunt for overtaking and the occasional bit of fun. Planning to keep it serviced and advisory free for the foreseeable future! It's all the car I could ever need.
How are you finding it? I’ve got the same spec as you but the c250 version which has more power, pick it up Thursday 👍
Well done Matt, another excellent job done ✔️ 👏
I'm driving a 2012 C250.... And I LOVE it... almost the same as this it seems... Beautiful work!
That car looks amazing. Will sell very quickly. One negative...why didn't you change the rusty wheel bolts. Especially after the wheel Refurb? Or even spray them black. Happy new year Mat 👍👍
I once had a 2013 Mercedes C Class CDi estate. A fantastic car - a lusty 2.2 litre diesel, great grunt, looked fantastic, really nice interior and was a lovely drive. Picking this one up for £4k was an absolute steal! I’d certainly have another one…….
I love watching your videos, an honest car trader. Almost as rare as hen's teeth. Good on ya. I would definitely buy from you knowing how much effort you put into these cars. Top man.
How refreshing to hear your views on basic honesty and kindness! Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
We've had three W204s all in Obsidian Black, two saloons and a coupe. We're keeping a saloon and a coupe as they are such great cars. People say they're dated but they're solid, reliable and look great even today imo. Car looked stunning when finished and imagine you'll easily get your asking price, as shrewd buyers know what a great buy these W204s are. Great vid as usual.
They're just really easy to live with. I did contemplate keeping this as a runaround to keep the miles off my other stuff but I've decided against it
I've got a c250 2013. I've had it since February and I've had nothing but problems with it. But I love it. The fuel economy is absolutely ridiculously good. I drove from swindon to Paris and then Paris to the south of France, down the the Spanish boarder and then back to swindon and only cost me £400/450 in diesel.
@@Biscuits645 c220 seems solid some things to change after 95,000 miles just wear and tear but worth it. Am looking out for one 100,000. Not sure if they sorted out 2011 plus the rear rust issue subframe
@@MobilediscowirralCoUk I have a 2011 C350 CDI Pre-Facelift on about 116k miles, rear subframe can usually get swapped for no charge at a local dealer as it is such a common problem, mine seems to be fine currently. Would recommend checking for Airbag recall as they are Takata airbags
@@HighPeakAutos you want to keep every car lol 😂
Hi Matt, been watching your channel for as long as I can remember. Great review as always but what stuck with me was your take on life, I wish more people started thinking like that. There’s enough to go around for everyone yet you see dishonesty across all industries nowadays as if people are holding an old grudge. Just doesn’t add up to me…
I know. Theres no need for it. I see it all day long.
Well done my friend. May you be blessed more and more
the world needs honest people like you Mate
Hi Matt, love what you did with the car. It looks great, but the rusty wheel nuts let the wheels down somewhat. I just thought it was a pity since the wheels themselves look brand new.
Hi from the rainy lakes 👋 just wanted to say that’s one hell of a transformation and it’s now a car someone should be really proud to own. Only thing I missed was the usual judgement of the tyres, I love how much a set of mismatching ditchfinders can say about the previous owner 😂
Haha thanks. These all match
Brilliant episode against Love your content:) always interesting Thank you
Thanks a for a Great Video , I am always excited when I see a new video posted in the last day or hour for something you bought. Only thing I missed on this one is often you talk about the kind of common problems with this particular model if we in the market for one or what to watch out for
Very good video, Matt and nice car - shame it's a rattly diesel and the black interior is a bit gloomy, but you've done a good job of turning it around. It'll sell. You deserve to make a bob or two on this one.
The old 2.1 isn’t half noisy
I've got the coupe version of the e class (which is basically the c class underneath, confusingly) the 350d. It's a very comfortable cruiser but not one for hustling down a b road. The foot operated handbrake is a bit strange too. But overall it's well made and touch wood has been very reliable (I bet now I've said that it won't start tomorrow morning...)
They're great cars aren't they
I've had an e220 estate for a couple of years now. Lovely car and never let me down. (Touch wood)
Good honest video. Not a huge Merc fan previously but your c-class looks great. Cracking looking car.
Hi Mat I wish you was Down South as I would buy every car from you Top quality and honesty. Great channel mate good luck for the new year
I haven't watched this video yet (but will) I just thought I'd get in there with a question which occurred to me when I was watching your last Q+A. How do you decide how much to pay for a car you're interested in? Do you just go on the 'book price'? The car vertical price? And what exactly is this book? Love your channels and glad it's doing well
Thats a difficult one. Usually start with a trade price then work up or down from there depending on the specific car
For £27 a month you can find all that out with biweekly livestream. I've just learnt that biweekly can mean twice a week or every two weeks, seems a rather useless word.
Ive said it countless times, that W204 C class design is timeless, elegant and a touch of sport. Reliable engines, as heavy as a tank for that solid feel at the wheel. 4k is like getting the car for free what a deal 💯
Bit late as usual to the party but god bless you for being so honest with that old guy , you reminded me of something like what the late great Ayrton Senna said at spa when he agreed a new contract with Mclaren in 1990, business is only good when its good for both sides, I have always remembered this and tried to be like this, another great review good ser.
I bought a C300 a month ago, so when I saw your video pop up, i had to drop what I was doing to watch. I love the way your one came out & it looks well worth the price
I love these cars, and that steering wheel is the perfect thickness 😂 especially is C63
Yes they are!
Looks superb Matt 👍 and well worth the investment. I've got a 2014 C200 too. Bought October 2021. It's my first Merc and I love it. He's called "Wilson" which is a long story. Mine's had one previous owner and the original purchaser cheaped out a bit on the extras so it doesn't have heated seats either. But, with only 52k miles on it it was worth having. I I did notice that yours has folding rear seats (handy) and the Becker Map Pilot too. The W204 series diesels are sadly not ULEZ compliant despite being extremely clean which is a shame. Speaking of which, at 2' 20" did you by any chance punch the "Eco" button to turn off that annoying Stop/Start? Yep, I do that too 😁
Yeah its irritating
You've gained me as a subscriber Your honesty is lovely to here Keep doing what your doing Old school car next maybe....
Your a good honest bloke, smashing vi
Honesty is always worth the good reputation it brings
It has nothing to do with dishonesty if you don't disclose what you think something is worth. 🤦♂🤦♂
@@worldhello1234 i will agree to disagree
Had the pre-facelift car, a 57 plate C220 CDi in AMG spec. Really liked it and it had a few good options fitted to it. Pan roof, parking sensors and heated seats. That’s the thing with that generation of C-Class, Mercedes were super stingy with standard equipment. If I were to have another one it would have to be the 350CDI and with a good spec to match
Why not go for a petrol engine?
@@PointNemo9 you could only get either the base level c180 or the c63 as a petrol with these, the rest are diesels
Cracking informative video and great business ethos
Thank you for being honest in your videos..
Iv allways like this shape C class! I think it's aged pretty good too
I agree
The face lift one like the one in the video is brilliant. The only thing letting it down today is its old infotainment system.
@@gravemind6536 I think there's companies out there that can update the infotainment so you can use android auto etc
@@gravemind6536 at least the system is easy to operate unlike the C Class whic replaced this
@@HighPeakAutos Agreed I hate anything with swivel wheels and especially the magic mouse nonsense. Also the way the way Mercedes were just sticking a screen on the dash like an after thought looked cheap and tacky they had quite a long phase of doing this.
cost of getting cars serviced recently is MAD .... Parts on cheaper items doubled .hourly rate maybe gone up as well ....Shocking prices at moment .I would say nearly 40% up on last year
Yea just had new front Brembo discs albeit on 19" wheels fitted for £450. I couldn't believe it, I either got ripped off or it's gone insane. Checked previous invoice and it was like £100 a wheel 5 years ago.
great video Matt, always liked these older c-class and you've done a good job on this one. also used CarVertical with your code the other day for peace of mind on a wee suzuki ignis we bought.
Thanks! I appreciate that
Love your morals. Very decent and honest guy.
I own a 2013 Black C220 C class with a manual gearbox. It is £20 a year to tax and I can get over 700 miles out of a full tank. It is serviced regularly and I hoping to get 20 years out of it.
Until 2033? That will be good going.
lol a car dealer with morals
Nice car - nice flip - love your honesty - wish there were more people like you.
Hi Matt, Thanks for another enjoyable video. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks, will do!

Congrats bro🤓
I finally found the channel, the amount of honesty, chill, calmness made me go back to watch history to search this up. Subbing for more awesome vids!!
Awesome, thank you!
as always, a fun professional video, good car too.
Love your content sir......very honest, decent and moral car trader! Who knew.....?
Another great video, great turnaround and nice profit margin too! I have a story with that exact spec of C class. Back in 2013 my mother was wanting an E class, she had called up the local dealer and when she turned up the salesguy said something along the lines of a lady doesn't want a big car like the E class, its too hard to park. He took her out and presented a black C220d amg line plus (I think is that spec) and needless to say she walked across the road after the test drive and bought a 5 series (f10).
Well done matt. Great video, and you are an honest man. I have a 2009 c180 kompressor, it's still a great car.
My friend has one of these almost in the exact same spec and he absolutely adores it, fantastic on fuel, great looking and fast enough for what he needs. He has his wheels in a hyper silver and they look grand. Interesting point of note is that Merc know the seats have issues with bolster and the bases so I believe you can buy the base separately from them for £70ish
A fresh breath of air to hear a man dealing in cars and speaking of morals, great 👍
