Any Western-backed Ukrainian strike against the Crimean bridge or Crimea itself will be met with a powerful revenge strike from Russia, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday (May 3).
"I would like to warn Washington and Brussels that any aggressive actions against Crimea are not only doomed to fail, but will also be met with a devastating revenge strike," said Zakharova.

For what? Supporting your fellow Slavs? You know, I've had a few weeks off social media and the fear of going to war with Russia dissipated. Russians aren't a people who ordinary Brits think about, or hate. You're on the periphery of Europe geographically and culturally; you live similarly to ourselves, and even if our cultures aren't exactly the same, we share more in common with each other than any of us do with say, the Chinese (not that I have anything against the Chinese). Let's not propagate hatred between us, the world was a better place when everyone was cooperating. There needs to be a sensible dialogue established that aims to end the conflict in Ukraine. The UN, (or the government of Tonga for all I care), could be allowed into the contested areas to carry out an objective referendum to see what the majority of the people who are registered as living there want. If they want to join Russia, they should be allowed, if they don't, Russia's military retreats and peace reigns in the region either way. Then we can all get back to trying to make the world a better place, as is our responsibility.

This is a special military operation which means they've stayed away from the conventional tactics of a full scale war, i.e. the destruction of bridges, tunnels, roads, water, power supplies. When the US/UK command sabotage something in Russia, they respond tit-for-tat but they could really decimate Ukraine's infrastructure any time they wanted.

Did you know in Donetsk and Luhansk Crimea while there were still living Ukrainian citizens the Ukrainian government blocked water electricity food supply to those parts of the country and that was even before the war started this bridge saved millions of people in those regions
After Crimea became part of Russia following a referendum in March 2014 (some would call it annexation), Ukraine cut off land supplies to Crimea and cut off electricity and fresh water supplies to Crimea. So the Crimean Bridge was not built for invasion, it was built for life. Both before and now the Crimean Bridge was not used to transport military cargo to Crimea. Moreover, Russia now has a direct land connection with Crimea. So the intention to destroy the Crimean Bridge by Ukraine is only an image move to extract money for the war from Western countries.

It's because you don't listen carefully. They didn't say they can down all missiles under all circumstances. If many more missiles are fired any air defense would be overwhelmed. Russians are saying that if you do this escalation, which is ill advised and pointless, don't be surprised if Houthis sink your fleet with hypersonic missiles or struck London bridge with some warhead. Western leaders developed this delusional thinking they can harm anybody with impunity and without devastating retribution. They are saying, enough with your hypocrisy and backstabbing -> from now on - eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.

If you have been watching the pro Ukr war maps you will notice the now rapid advancement of the Russians, up and down the line of contact. The bridge attacks are just a sign of desperation ...... Ukr is finished .... it is past the point of return and anyone with a casual interest knows this.

I think it’s a meh issue at this point. It will be inconvenient, but the Russians have been putting workarounds in place for some time. Crimea existed before this bridge existed, even in wartime.
Crimean bridge has already been struck once.
Almost certainly the Dnipro dam would be taken out causing billions worth of damage to property and agricultural land.
Russia's future reparations payments are really adding up. I estimate two trillion dollars they owe Ukraine and one trillion dollars they owe the poor people of the world for causing large price increases in the cost of fuel and food around the world.
