Medical memes or Doctor Memes are a great way to get a laugh whether or not you are part of the medical community. I think that they are incredibly relatable as you can catch the humor even as a patient. I will say that some of the memes can be dark and if taken out of context can even seem offensive BUT we need to understand that this is medical satire. Being able to laugh at ourselves and our troubles is a healthy habit to practice.
I really enjoy reacting to these memes and I know that there are millions more out there that are as funny.   • 3 years later, in my own nursing classes, and I finally understand the "Shy Lovers Try Positions That They Can't Handle" mnemonic, the carpals of the hand. Scaphoid Lunate Triquetrum Pisiform Trapezium Trapezoid Capitate Hamate Helped me pass my final exam, so thanks, Dr. Mike!

  • 3:52 A mnemonic for the carpal bones in the hand! Learned that in anatomy this past semester haha, but the one I learned used “some” for scaphoid instead of “shy”. “Straight line to pinky, here comes the thumb” is also good but less fun lol

    • I meditate. Most often I hear the sounds of the machine through ear plugs and it pulses like a Berlin nightclub. But I have fallen asleep once. I've never seen the inside of one because my eyes are closed the second my head is in place. I figured I'd get claustrophobia.

  • My dad's dermatologist was so concerned for cancer from sun exposure she became OCD about it. She slopped on so much sun block, wore big hats, long sleeves, and gloves all year (lived in a subtropical climate). She went completely crazy, lost her license, and ended up with skin cancer from the sunblock.

They have even been scenes in Dracula/vampire movies where they are legitimately seen in the view of the sun or during the daytime but hiding in shade such as the Universal "Dracula" movies, Coppola's "Dracula"... and yes, even Twilight.   • 6:30 Omg that's why the head surgical nurce in my rotation always told students or even doctors to "fall backwards if they faint , or they'd get slapped into counciousness" by the surgeon himself... There was that one surgeon who had a special technique when doing thyroid operations, that required one to stand on the edge to the anesthesiologyst's drape , elevated, bent over almost ro the height where his hands were at his tighs height (but a drape was in between sterile/ non sterile ) and had to hold a honey drain and - idk anymore what clamp - to stretch the skin back. He was great but horrible in person. The nurse knew her team.

  • Omg, when I had my wisdom teeth extracted, I had the procedure in a hospital that trains med students. There was an entire bunch of them looking at me awkwardly while I had the surgeon digging up my teeth. One of the med students held my cheek open with that thing (the retractor) and she was really enthusiastic about it!
