For twenty years I thought my seasonal allergies were caused by pollen, dust, and pet fur, but then a handful of home remedies changed everything (:

All very sensible. I came from a different angle. Ate only meat which cured me of literally all my problems; allergies, diabetes, depression, anxiety. I have since been able to reintroduce some fruit, some very correctly prepared organic white sourdough, raw milk, honey, very well cooked potatoes without skin. To name a few. Zero foods that have more than one ingredient that I didn’t make myself.
Yea, I feel like just whole foods prepared properly can make a huge difference. Have you tried Einkorn wheat? It's the only un-hybridized strain left and has much less gluten. amzn.to/4aa63Jw
Fruits, vegetables, nuts give me too much bloating. Meat and wheat settles my stomach but allergies stays 😢
@@raindrops1047 With fruits and veggies, make sure to mostly eat alkaline, as acidic foods, like oranges, peppers, and such can certainly cause stomach upset. Pear, kiwi, papaya, squash, green beans, and baby lettuce would be good stomach soothing picks. For nuts, seeds, and pseudo grains (like quinoa) it's ESSENTIAL to soak them for 4-8 hours in filtered water and then dehydrate, bake, or cook them because in raw/un-sprouted form they all have "anti-nutrients," which can also cause bloating and stomach pain. Meat is fine, but it's also critical to get off gluten for the sake of allergies and digestive longterm health, as it's very sticky and clogs up your digestive tract-literally like eating "glue."
Bigal I'm trying the same thing, I didn't go carnivore for allergies, but I keep reading that it helps.... I'm still eating cream, cheese, eggs... My allergies are certainly not gone yet. I've heard eggs and dairy can be a culprit. I'm going to try and cut those out and see what happens...
I watched your video last night ( Saturday night) I was searching for home remedies for pollen allergies, I came across this video. Today Sunday, I drank only green tea for breakfast (I was not interested in any food because I was really sick). At lunch I ate quinoa salad ( quinoa, tomato, arugula, 1 slice chicken ham, 1 scrambled egg and chopped baby carrots). I can't explain to you how I feel.. It's like a miracle. I made a list of medications I was going to get tomorrow at the pharmacy but i will be going to the bio store instead. I've got to throw out all the junks in my fridge. Thank you for posting this video
Hey that's great, Yayira! It's amazing how much progress you can make with simple dietary changes. If any of the meds are prescription just be sure to taper off them gently and talk to your health practitioner if needed. But sounds like a lovely diet to move forward with. (:
Nice list and we've made many of the same changes with similar benefits. 100% agree that gut microbiota are a huge factor in allergies and overall personal health, which is still being ignored by most mainstream health providers and policy makers. One note on the meat/dairy point, this has a lot to do with HOW the meat or dairy animals are managed. There's a huge difference between grain-fed and 100% pasture-based beef or milk, for example. Speaking of dairy, we've found from personal experience that raw or minimally processed milk from pastured animals (goats in our case) actually seemed to confer some allergen protection on us, especially since we were raising the animals ourselves. For example, goats love poison ivy, and once we started consuming the resulting milk, I rarely reacted to PI even though I interacted with it on a nearly daily basis. The same seemed to be true for ragweed, which goats also love. We grazed our goats on dense ragweed, and my allergy reactions went way down when the resulting milk was in our diet. It's clear that going vegan helps many people, but I tend to think that, at least in part, it's the effect of removing toxic grain-based meat/dairy from the diet, not the inherent effect of meat or dairy, which when produced and consumed right have a lot of benefits as well. This is also a reason to go local when possible, as even 100% pastured products from 1000 miles away may not help someone deal with local allergens (also a possible reason why allergies grew in lockstep with the ever-growing distance between food producers and consumers). Long comment aside, great video!
That's interesting about the poison ivy! You can go so many levels deep with nutrition that it's both fascinating and terrifying. There's a great local butcher in our area, but they're all the way out in Mendon (about a twenty minute drive), which is tough for regular shopping. Would be an interesting experiment to try some of the milk/yogurt you guys are using. I tried goat cheese and yogurt from Wegman's for a while, but who knows how they're being raised or fed. Have you guys experienced the same benefits with local honey? I've read opinions both ways with some people in favor and others saying local honey makes no difference.
Really great ideas to consider about local dairy and meat that is raised in a healthy way.
He's right. After 55 years of life, I finally successfully cured my non-stop allergies and asthma. For me, it was an allergic reaction to wheat and milk. Both of those are eaten in almost every food in the US. It's everywhere. When the body reacts against wheat and milk, it causes inflamation. And inflamation creates the perfect storm in the body - when natural allergens like mold or pollen come rolling in, the body is already tilting in that direction, making it very very easy to completely tip over into a full blown allergic reaction and/or asthma. If you have mega allergies/asthma, do yourself a kindness - try taking out wheat and milk from your diet. Completely remove it. And you may find yourself completely amazed, but more importantly, relieved. Good luck my friends. Note: before I removed wheat and milk, I did use stinging nettle tea successfully, but it only treated the symptom, not the cause. Just a day later, I would be slammed with the major flu-like symptoms of allergies, or gasping with asthma. At the very least, take out wheat and milk. Treat the cause.
Hey that's amazing, congrats on getting to the root cause of your allergies! It's frustrating that anyone could go such a long time without being informed about the possibility of food allergies, but it feels so good once you finally figure things out! p.s. I also love nettle tea. (:
I am on a Whole Food Plant Based Diet too 😎👍 I got rid of excess mucus by ditching dairy, however, I still suffer from various allergies. I have been working on this for years and it is complicated in my case. Happy to learn that you found a cure to your allergies. Enjoy!
Ugh, yea...figuring out health problems can be a nightmare. It's so funny, because my allergies cleared up in a month after going vegan, but I've been stuck trying to figure out Lyme disease for three years. You'd think they'd work the same way, but nope. Just got keep experimenting! (:
Andrew, thank you so much for this INCREDIBLY AWESOME video! How generous and thoughtful you are to offer this information to others for their benefit. What a powerful soul you are!
You're very welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully it helps if you've got any issues with allergies, like I did. Be well. (:
Wow! This was such a great video! So helpful. Thank you 😊
You're welcome, Evie, I hope it helps!
Your videos are awesome man. You've got a soothing voice and sound advice
Appreciate it! Ironically, one of the key's to allergies, and probably any immune problem, is to maintain a chill vibe. You can accomplish a lot by just slowing down the speed at which you live. (:
Thank you so much for posting this video! 🙏🏾

Thanks, Elisha! If only I had watched my own video ten years ago. (:
Good for you and I started listing what you should eat for allergies and in general - they were Non-GMO and organic and dairy if you find that you're allergic to them!!!! you pretty much said the same in your list. Your gut is your second brain and determines your health.
Ha yes, the "lower brain." Great guts think alike. (:

It's been two solid years I have used herpes herbal cleanser from @nzenjokuherbalhome I still remain herpes free. Ignorant itself is a disease
WOW, I literally have the same story and have found the same solutions. So cool.
The most effective solutions in life usually converge around simplicity. (:
This is simply amazing. Have the same situation - no allergies as a kind, than every spring I'm dying. Thanks for the ideas! I will try to fix it for me also.
No problem! I'd try taking out dairy first, since that's the #1 allergy for most people. Good luck!
Hey, did it work?
@@redone9553 Well, I improved my health a lot but diet or removing dairy didn't help with allergies. Basically I have lots of improvements but no changes with allergies.
Gonna give it a try. Thanks
No prob, hope it helps, Charles!
thank you so much for sharing! it's been so long since i've been suffering and since i started my little journey to do better, it's been such a slow process and it's so hard
Yea, allergies can be a real nightmare. Have you tried completely cutting out dairy and gluten? Those two things were the key for me and within a few weeks I was able to permanently get off my allergy meds, nasal spray, and inhaler.
@@AndrewFolts yes but I still have issues elsewhere like dyshidrotic eczema so maybe it'll just take longer for me to see results? But also probably it's hard for me and every once in a while I eat meat again or a dessert or something
@@khuxiong4589 Meat generally shouldn't cause issues, as long as you eat organic free-range and grass-fed. Bison, beef, and wild caught salmon are the safest. Especially if not "sprouted" properly, many vegan foods can cause skin issues, so it might be worth taking a look at my Raw Vegan video. kzhead.info/sun/lLCwnsdrmIJ_lXA/bejne.html I did go back to supplementing with meat in the winter, but soaking/sprouting makes a big difference for me. Also, you might want to try a shower filter that removes chlorine, because that's another thing that can cause eczema. It's very damaging to the skin. Clearly Filtered and Aquasana both have shower filters.
@@AndrewFolts ahhh I see. Yeah when it comes to meat I tend to have the more processed ones since it's easier. I'll take a look at your other video
@@khuxiong4589 You can get ground bison/beef and salmon is super easy, you just throw it in the oven for like 8-10 minutes at 375 on parchment and it's done with no mess.
Wonderful info thanks 🙏

Thanks so much for posting this! I've suffered from allergies and asthma my whole life and nothing has helped. My wife went on a keto diet and after reading WheatBelly and Undoctored, she's very into gut health. Your video has inspired me to clean up my act and hopefully get better! P.S. she makes a great coconut milk yogurt!
Your wife sounds like a smart lady! If you get rid of gluten and dairy, you'll be amazed at how fast your allergies start to go away. Cheers to coconut yogurt! (:
Thank you!

Aw thanks, yo! Hope the tips help. (:
Great Video! Thank you for sharing. I also made a (90%+) WFPB change after reading "How Not To Die", albeit after about 6 months of failed launches. I feel way better and the extra weight I have been carrying is just melting off. I think it just took a little while for my chemistry to change so that natural foods taste right (everything processed was drowned in sugar and salt) then I could eat my daily dozen be full and now my body is changing on it's own. Also, just want to give love back to you. . .as, again, YOU WERE MY BREAKTHROUGH on barefoot and my biomechanics. I am offically 1 year and 4 days into my transition, and my plantar fascia that was debilitating bc of tightness, toe sweep, and heel strike seems to be 100% and working on becoming bullet-proof. I lost (too much ) work and any joy in life for almost a year where my only pain-free range of motion was literally on my back. I have been pain free for 7 months now and my feet feel weirdly strong. Juggling soccer balls again feels amazing, and now I can balnace for prolonged period on both feet. I was never a runner, but intend to give it a shot in future in time, as I now am correcting pelvic tilt, but making progress. I know this is long, and too personal, but I sincerely want you to feel how you have helped me by putting yourself out on YT, and by extention my son and my entire family. Would love to see some WFPB ish content, because I not 100% WFPB either, but still see the effect. Will stop now, but sincerely, Thank You.
Aaron, that's incredible! I shouldn't be surprised at this point, hearing so many barefoot stories like this, but it still amazes me how much can come of a simple change. I have this old tradition of juggling a soccer ball with my Dad, who's now in his sixties, so I feel your joy in that. What kind of WFPB videos would you want to see?
@@AndrewFolts Hey! Thanks again. I know my answer may not be what you may want as a content creator but honestly I'd be up for anything. I cook for my family (pescatarians) but I individually lean more into low sodium, low dairy, PBWF. Last night made Lentil pasta TVP lasagna; then I freeze some for the teenager. I like Britt Jaroudi, as inspirational, but not quite the time and budget to do all of it, especially after work and studies etc. Simple truth is. . . I am here bc of your authentic voice. If you decided to share some of that with us, I'd trust your voice and be up for whatever you felt like sharing.

Me and 2 of my kid suffer from this. My daughter is the worse. Allergy shots, medicines, inhalers, all of it. Shes having surgery in summer. I will show her your video to see if she would like to try this change. Happy your are well.
So sorry to hear about your daughter, Beverly. Allergies are no fun. I would suggest as a first step removing all dairy and gluten from her diet, as these two cause allergies/asthma in the majority of people. Coconut products, yogurt, etc, are one good alternative. Deep/slow breathing in through the nose (never the mouth) is also key, as the nose filters toxins, while the mouth doesn't. Hope she's able to feel better and maybe even avoid surgery, which has its own complications.
Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, Volanda. Hope the tips help!
Thanks! I'm a vegetarian, but I still eat a lot of the foods you mentioned. I will be cutting them out completely. Blessings!
Elimination type diets can be really helpful. Hope it works for ya!
4:28 An expert (in grains, also a miller and baker) once told me that although Einkorn has less gluten it is not tolerated by all people because its gluten is of a different quality (e.g. tight or loose). I do better with Spelt end Emmer.
Yea, makes sense. Take a thousand people and they'll all react a thousand different ways to each food they eat. Trial and error!
Great information brother 👌 Add these stuff from Indian Ayurveda you will more benefited - yoga ( Surya namaskar, sarvang asan, Anulom - vilom, Kapalbhati, Pranayam, bhastrika pranayam) - meditation (morning time) - opting healthy diet (avoid food causing" kapha")
What's kapha, inflammation? I use ginger and turmeric a lot. Ayurveda has def been helpful to me.
In Ayurveda human body mainly categories in 3 type Vatta dominant, Pitta dominant & kapha dominant. In case of Kapha dominant body type - if person living unhealthy life and eating junks then Kapha body type lost its balance and casue over production of Mucus and due to overproduction of mucus astham, Cold/dust/pollen allergy triggered. (Just search " kapha imbalance" you will get more knowledge about that. )
I basically cured my allergies with water fasting, juice feasting and colonics. I switched from a vegetarian way of eating to eating meat so I would say it's more about the quality of the food and also the quality of digestion. Both as a vego and omnivore, I never gave up dairy. I've had it flare back up this year due to a toxic mould exposure from a water damaged rental I was in. Before that, I was literally doing yard maintenance/mowing lawns for a living all throughout an Australian summer and I was fine.. being bombarded with pollen and grass clippings in 30°C+ weather.
Yea, it depends on the person, but in general I'd say that drinking milk specifically designed for a baby cow is generally not a good idea. If you look it up you'll find that there's not a single species on Earth that drinks another species milk as part of its natural diet. High quality meat is definitely a better option and doesn't produce allergies.
@@AndrewFolts Yeah, I've heard that a lot. But that's because non-human animals do not have hands and fingers to milk cows or goats or sheep, but my dog loves kefir and butter and he handles it just fine. He is healthier because of it. Whilst casein is a common dairy allergen, why is lactase produced in the small intestine? There's a reason that enzyme is there. Most dairy you find in the store has been pastuerised and homogenised too, making it harder to digest. The fact is that humans have been drinking milk from various species for many thousands of years.
I use many of these solutions but I also only buy local wildflower honey. I noticed quickly when I started using storebought that my allergies intensified so I went back to buying from my local honey farmer and they are almost gone again within a week. I was thinking it would take a couple months so I was surprised it started working so quickly.
Yea, local honey is key. Lot's of people seem to have great results with it. Much love to our furry bee friends, ha!
Thank you❤
You're welcome, Jem. Hope the tips help! (:

Simple yet effective! (:
Hi Andrew, just found your video and I’m very interested because boy am I suffering for 20+years and nothings helping. I am unable to have legumes and soy. Where would you suggest I get my protein from?curious where you get your protein
I'd recommend eating wild caught salmon and organic grass-fed bison or elk. These are usually low-allergy for most people. You can get grass-fed beef at most grocery stores and higher quality bison/elk from Northstar Bison: northstarbison.com. That said, your problem with legumes may be that you're not "sprouting" them. Essentially, nuts/seeds/legumes have "anti-nutrient" defense compounds that can prevent digestion and cause allergies, so you need to soak them for 8 hours in filtered water and thoroughly rinse them off before dehydrating or cooking them. This makes them significantly less allergy-inducing. Soy is extremely hybridized, so I'd avoid that completely.
Its very difficult to research things because there are so many conflicting experiences. I hear so many have good experience from vegan diets but then i hear people with good experiences with meat diet and its cured then from different things. I have allergies and its becoming worse but i cant without meat because i actually feel weak after being without meat for a while. I have tried not eating meat but i felt so weak. I have tried everything to get my energy up but after eating meat once after going without it for so long, i felt revitalized and full of energy. So its actually a difficult scenario.
Meat and vegan are both fine for allergies. Dairy, gluten, and processed or non-organic foods are the main culprits that you need to remove from your diet. For meat, it's also important to check what the animals are being fed. I'm currently eating a mix of vegan, wild salmon, and elk/bison, which I order in bulk from Northstar Bison, northstarbison.com because their animals are treated respectfully and graze on their natural diet, rather than being fed grains (like most grocery store meat). If you eat a cow that's been fed grain, you can still get allergies from the grain, along with other health problems. Make sure the meat says "100% grass-fed AND finished," because a lot of companies lie and feed the animals grain at some point.
@@AndrewFolts this makes sense. I was thinking about this because I actually don't know where the meat come from when I eat the meat. Thank you for your response. Appreciate it. Wouldn't it be nice if we had the space and we could just grow our own meat, keep our own livestock.
@@musaadfelton3909 My brother has a small farm and tried keeping animals, but it's a real nightmare, unless you have a whole family or team of people to help out. If only we still lived in tribes, ha!
@@AndrewFolts I can believe it is quite a responsibility to own a farm. However it's my dream. I kept chickens before and I have a garden and growing some fruit trees but it's not enough space for me as I am renting a house. So it's my dream to own a piece of land. I'm working toward it. How awesome would it be to produce your own honey and milk and meat, eggs etc. But I agree it's a lot of work. But I agree. Community is very important. We just don't see close knit community anymore. Everyone to there own these days. But thank you for the interaction 🙂 all the best with the diet and everything else. I hope I find what works for me too. I guess it's trial and error before a person can come to a conclusion
amen, at 30+ i moved to new place and i got allergies which making me crazy, im trying everything, i hope it will work. but i do not know how to give up coffee and meat, i have eaten and drinking coffee since i was little😪
Yea, if your immune system's already agitated, moving to a new location can certainly cause an overreaction. Fortunately, you don't need to give up meat. Just stick to organic 100% grass-fed beef/bison, at least until your allergies calm down. For coffee, an easy way to get off it is to eat a square of dark chocolate instead. Chocolate has only 10 grams of caffeine vs 80-90+ grams for coffee.
You are absolutely awesome, you simplified this to the point that even I was able to understand this… pretty awesome… Thanks again… Ever heard of Barbra O’Neill… she’s pretty awesome too… Thanks again, Blessings 👧🏽🤲🏽💞🌿🌸🐂🐈🐈⬛🦮🦮✨
Really glad you found the video easy to absorb. So funny you mentioned Barbara O'Neill, because I was just on a kick watching her videos. Very knowledgeable human!
Thx!!!
No prob. Thanks for watching!
You mentioned moving was the start of it. We moved only 4 hrs. away and now my daughter has eye allergy symptoms 😢. Now I want to move back lol. I guess I'll start cleaning up the ol' diet!
Yea moving to a new area is definitely a "trigger," but it's not the cause. When you find the foods that are irritating your daughter's immune system, it'll no longer overreact to harmless changes, like relocating. Dairy and gluten are always a good place to start.
@@AndrewFolts Good thinking. Thank you!!! I'll start there.
Having no allergies, but then getting them later in life (like your 40s) is a sign you may have an autoimmune disorder. I learned this from my allergy doctor. HE diagnosed my autoimmune disorder. GF and bone broth reversed my autoimmune after 4 years. Low carb, keto, carnivore or IF will each stop me from having spring allergies. (Each of these also reduces arthritis pain. IF combined with one of the other three eliminates all my joint pain and swelling.) I like your self testing approach with constant research. Everyone is different..... perhaps red beans make your joints swell up or trigger sneezing, but I may eat them without a problem. You have natural teaching ability.
Yea, it's a long windy journey figuring out what works, but IF, GF, and low are often very effective for most people in reducing inflammation. So glad you found some good remedies and congrats on your excellent results! (:
I have food allergies and I saw a huge improvement quickly by just walking on the grass barefoot. I also took vitamin b complex with vitamin D3 and salt . The best probiotic that heals food allergies is clostridium butyricum which is naturally present in soil .
Barefooting is a great medicine. I always leave some dirt on my veggies, so maybe that helps out too, ha!
Your remedies are so simple. I knew about gluten and dairy, but coffee....Love it so much.
Coffee is like a credit card...it allows you to spend more energy than your body/brain can replenish, plus it's super acidic and harms your gut, so yea, just not worth it. You could try carob (no caffeine) or cacao (low caffeine). Cheers!
Great video. I did something similar, but starting with Keto. It’s all about inflammation, whether you go vegan anti-inflammatory or keto anti-inflammatory. Eliminate. Add back foods and figure out what triggers inflammation. My Keto focused on eating only anti-inflammatory foods - and unprocessed meat is not inflammatory. But the most anti-inflammatory food of all is fatty fish. So i focused on eating sardines and salmon everyday, with surprising side effect that I never got before from going low carb, or Atkins or Keto, effects i can only attribute to the fish - great skin and mental clarity. There’s a mental clarity you always get from keto b/c of the lack of sugar. But despite having had lots of flax seed oil capsules for years, i never got the same impact as with eating fish. Then I learned that the omega 3 in seeds is not the same as the omega 3 in fish. the former can be converted into the later, but only a small percentage, and not as efficiently. And guess what the brain is made of? About 30% of the dry weight of the brain is made of fat (the omega 3 kind). At first, i tolerated sardines, then i shopped around and found high quality sardines from Spain and Portugal. And I added in other high quality canned fish, like cod and cod liver (it gets a bad wrap, it’s like a mild tuna). cod liver has more omega 3 than anything on the planet. Eat 1/4th a can of cod liver per day for four days (since by then the cod liver will start to go bad in the fridge), and you’ll do your brain and skin and mood a favor. That’s another thing - very chill moods. all this so that i could cure my nasal congestion. Nasal congestion went away in about a week or two of this diet and i got the skin benefits in three weeks (that’s when i notice the blackheads on my nose were gone. I can feel them on my nose but then stopped feeling them). The only allergies i had left i could attribute to dust and dry air. Got a humidifier, and removed the dust. The dust was likely from an old favorite pillow of mine. Just got a new down pillow (hard to wash a down pillow so i just got a new one). Now i breathe through my nose just for the fun of it. And yes, i added fermented vegetables. I make my own kimchi, sauerkraut, real fermented pickles, etc. got a ketomojo blood glucose and blood ketone monitor. I know exactly how ketones impact my brain. If you have ADHD, give that a shot. Ketones in the brain are way way better than just glucose. For epilepsy, alzehimer’s and great new research by Dr. Palmer at Harvard showing the dramatic impacts on bipolar and schizophrenia. The power of your vegan diet is mostly from what you are NOT eating. And you can do keto and vegan, but it’s harder. And I’d consider adding in the fatty fish. Anyway, that’s my two cents.
Yesss, salmon is the best! I eat it twice a week. I'd eat more, but there is the concern of mercury contamination, which is true for any large fish. Elimination diets are also super helpful. Good work taking control of your health!
My goodness! I hope this is can work however for me😵💫
There's a good chance, since the majority of people are dairy/gluten intolerant. Cutting those out is often the fastest way to get rid of allergies.
Powerful
Nature remedies are amazing, yea. (:
What about tea and macha can I have that over coffee?
Yep, those would be great alternatives to coffee. Much less acidity and caffeine.
thoughts on carnivoremd?
Personal experience has taught me any diet that cuts out entire food groups is probably bs, but it just comes down to what food makes you feel best. There's probably something to be gained by going carnivore for a short period of time (like I did with veganism), but as far as I know the healthiest cultures in the world eat mostly plants with a small amount of meat.
@@AndrewFolts i agree with most fad diets being bs, but carnivoremd advocates for organs, meat, and raw dairy with lots of fruit and honey as well. his philosophy is that vegetables as leafy greens and root vegetables arent supposed to be eaten as they have defense chemicals to stay alive compared to fruits which want to be eaten to spread their dna through seeds. nuts and legumes and some grains also factor into this with the exception of rice usually (but i think personally it depends on whatever your ancestors ate locally before humans moved before during the industrial revolution (maybe)) . he says that this diet is for the most optimal health in practice (with an active lifestyle with it) and not just for survival that hunter gatherers usually live by. also any herbs and spices he doesnt like by his reasoning and he also has mentioned that when fruits ripen, they start off green and bitter but become palatable as they gain color, but doesnt make sense when you apply this logic to some colored vegetables (some flawed reasoning but for the most part it has well founded points behind it) i hope im coherent enough for the thought process that goes into this because this diet follows most of what you are preaching in this video as well. i hope you can also check out his page if you can for more clarification on these claims and reasoning. thanks i also want to add that i think this diet is a bit extreme and i dont think ill ever give up what benefits that plants have but it is something to consider in terms of diet, but im completely undecided when it comes to a whole foods diet right now, and you are 100% right about eating what makes you feel great in the long run with a balanced diet (i need to keep that in mind)
Yikes, this would be a significant dietary change for me. Maybe I’ll focus on cutting back gluten and sugar
Ha, yea, that's what I thought. Dairy, cheese, and yogurt were like 25% of my diet at least, but you can actually buy fermented nut and coconut products that taste exactly like dairy without the allergies. Miyoko's, for example, makes this amazing cashew cream cheese, and when I blind tested it on my parents, they had no idea it wasn't milk-based.
Ive been vegetarian for 5 years, and still dealing with allergies. They only go away when i unintentionally eat 99% vegan because i will eat only home cooked for at least a few days.
Yea, it's amazing how finicky the immune system can be. Just one cup of yogurt, and I start sneezing and getting a runny nose within half an hour. At least you know what causes it!
Thanks for the info. Your gut is crazy important. I believe that a lot of sleep problems are because of gut health or lack of.
Yea, I'm sure you're right. Almost always when I have insomnia I can feel my gut gurgling, like I ate something wrong that day.
Food has so many unexpected effects on us. It would be great if this was emphasized more in education. Thanks for sharing your method for fixing allergies 👍🏻
Yea, I wish that was the first thing they taught in kindergarten. I spent the first thirty years of my life not really understanding the importance of food, but BOY does it make a difference. Cheers!
I’m allergic to all raw fruits and 90 percent of what you listed..
Interesting, I've never heard of that. Is it linked to a specific condition?
@@AndrewFoltsme to , for the last 5 or 6 years , its histamine intolerance
havent had good sleep in two weeks and its been severely hindering my work and school progress
Why, because of allergies, or something else?
@@AndrewFolts Strictly allergies. Triggered by different things. Exercise causes horrible allergies. Also caffeine and and alcohol. My current insurance sucks too so i need to wait till the new month starts.
@@bestshowscenes7390 Exercise doesn't cause allergies, so you're certainly right that caffeine and alcohol (possibly dairy, gluten, and processed sugar too) are the root cause. Once you eliminate those things completely you'll never have allergies again.
@@AndrewFolts Thanks dude. I swear my nose gets insanely stuffed after a workout. I read online about exercised-induced rhinitis but maybe its not allergies...
After I went plant-based, my allergies reduced SIGNIFICANTLY. Still on the journey….
Yea, it can be hard to narrow things down, but dietary changes are def the most underrated (and effective) cure for allergies.
I went sugar free for a month n could finally have apples!!!
were u ever allergic of grasses? my sis&I even as kids could not sit on grass in shorts because it would itch our legs bad.
Yea, grass can be itchy, although it's not because of allergies. Grass often has tiny little spikes that irritate the skin.
I went carnivore...got rid of all processed foods, only eat cruciferous veggies but I mainly eat beef... sauerkraut and kimchee for gut...only sweets are berries and dark chocolate
Yum! Sauerkraut and meat are the best together. The only thing I miss is sourdough bread, but gluten is a huge trigger for allergies.
I'm starting a vegetarian lifestyle change on Sunday working towards vegan for exactly this reason .
That's great, Cindy! Going vegan was really helpful to me in sorting out my allergies. Like any diet, just pay attention to how it's working for you and keep yourself open to adding/removing other foods if something feels off.
Shots did me good for a long run
Considered that at one point, but thankfully my allergies cleared up after removing dairy. Glad they're working for ya, tho!
Do you drink soy milk? I've been wondering if my Eden soy milk is contributing to my asthma.
No, soy is often extremely hybridized and farmed with little care to the quality of the soil (nutrients), plus, like cruciferous veggies, it's "goitrogenic," which means it can harm your thyroid. Many people are also allergic to it. With any nut/seed/legume, make sure your soaking them 4-8 hours and then dehydrating or baking/cooking to destroy "anti-nutrients," which are the plants defense mechanism and can also cause asthma/allergies.
Nature's food is our medicine. One million % factual.
❤
Thanks for hanging out, yo! (:
sadly I'm vegan and gluten-free and am still dying every second of the day because of hay fever
Certain vegan foods can also cause allergies, especially nightshades (potatoes, eggplant, peppers), and it's also essential to soak all your nuts, needs, legumes, and grains for at least 4-8 hours before dehydrating or cooking/baking. In raw form they contain high amounts of anti-nutrients, which can cause inflammation, leaky gut, endocrine disruption, and a whole host of other issues. You can check out my raw vegan video kzhead.info/sun/lLCwnsdrmIJ_lXA/bejne.html if you've not sprouted before.
Side effects are just effects
Trippy, ha. What do you mean?
@@AndrewFolts sorry lol, when a company tells you this drug has side effects it is merely an effect.
@@droogbear649 Ah, gotcha!
Did you ever try moving back to the town you were born in?
I do live about 20 miles away from it. Different locales can certainly trigger allergic reactions, but when you eliminate problematic foods, your body is much more capable of handling new stimuli.
@@AndrewFolts Understood. I've got severe allergies and changed my diet to meat, raw fruit, and vegetables only. Still have symptoms. I've been thinking that since I live 1000s of miles from where I grew up, maybe it would be better to move back there. But my allergies have only been severe this year.
@@AndrewFolts Oh and I drink 6 ounces of milk with dinner and eat yogurt with my morning fruit. Maybe the dairy is problematic, but I don't see it as the cause of my severe allergy symptoms.
@@spazimdam Have you ever tried quitting dairy completely? That and gluten are the two primary suspects for the majority of people and when I removed them my allergies were better almost immediately and gone permanently within a couple months. Something like 70% of people are intolerant to dairy.
@@AndrewFolts Even though I love dairy, giving it up may indeed be my next step. I've already eliminated gluten, but sometimes I eat granola with oats. I'm dealing with severe allergy symptoms now, like chest congestion, runny nose. Doctor tested for bacteria and viruses, both negative, so she said it's allergies. Now would be a good time to eliminate dairy, so I think I'll start that tomorrow. Thanks for your help Andrew!
Wow Andrew did you seriously just start minimising your asthma symptoms just buy upping the quality of your food, fruit vege etc etc ?? I have allergy induced asthma and it’s really taking a hold of me
Yea, I'd say dairy was responsible for at least 90% of my "seasonal allergy" symptoms. I suspect the same is true for a lot of people, since dairy is the #1 food allergy. If you did an experiment and eliminated all dairy, gluten, soy, and processed foods for a month I bet your asthma would disappear or significantly improve. You can also do simple deep breathing exercises, which helped me a lot too: kzhead.info/sun/ndpmosmunoOag30/bejne.html
@@AndrewFolts Thank you from Melbourne Australia, the allergy capital of the world!
To help understand what processed foods are and are not do you have references that you go to online?
@@jooglet Basically, I'd just stick to organic produce and meat. Something like hummus is ok if all the ingredients are organic whole foods (no "modified corn starch, etc"). Other things to avoid... - canola oil - soy - white sugar ("cane sugar, etc" is ok) - salt ("sea salt, etc" is ok) - anything that says "starch" - synthetic chemicals ("ascorbic acid. etc")
@@jooglet Hopefully you'll find that dairy is the allergy capital of the world. (:
Your story is moving....I underwent something similar.
Yea, health is a struggle, but so rewarding when you finally find what works!
@@AndrewFolts True !
So if I’m all plant based. It’s the pollen
No, it's never the pollen, since pollen is harmless. Also, if you're plant-based, but eating processed foods, sugar, or gluten, then all of those things could still be triggering your allergies. You also want to be sure you're properly soaking you nuts, seeds, and grains for 4-8 hours, because otherwise they'll have high levels of anti-nutrients, which can cause allergies, as well.
Seeing Michael Greger here made me almost vomit. But no one can argue with results. I'm very glad that you still consume meat, because I strongly believe meat is essential to human health, illustrated by the fact that it's the only source of vitamin B12, but it goes way beyond B12. I don't believe meat is pro-atopy and type 2 immune response. I do wonder why it works so well; I'd think that maybe you are avoiding histamine or other DAO-occupying biogenic amine-rich foods such as aged/smoked meat and fish, tomatoes, fermented foods, but it seems like you eat fermented foods. The microbiome is indeed very immune modulating, so maybe the fact that you started to consume a lot more soluble (prebiotic) fiber from these whole foods might have been an influence. And lastly, stress and it's associated HPA axis activation, is very type 2 immunity inducing. Would you say you always have been an anxious person in the past? Was moving schools back in the day very stressful to you by any chance? Because your allergies got triggered back then. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Yea, I've tried various forms of veganism with some good results, but always ended up eating meat again. Currently I'm eating bison, elk, and some wild caught salmon, along with mostly alkaline vegan foods. The human immune system is extremely complex and different in every person, so I long ago gave up on trusting any particular framework for eating, other than just listening to my body in the moment. I've always been sensitive and prone to stress/anxiety, regardless of what's happening in my life. That said, my allergies were 100% triggered by dairy and possibly gluten and processed foods, because whenever I stop/start them my allergies return or disappear immediately.
thank you so much for sharing, it’s a definite must try for me. And yes, I think that trusting your body with what whole foods it wants is a very wise approach. Sounds very wholesome. Good day to you!
I don’t like this guy but I’m interested in what he’s has to say
Ha, thank you. What don't you like?
😎 Andrew, you should do a video on the positive health benefits of earth grounding. You are already doing this when we go barefoot outside and connect with Earth's electrons. Sleeping earth grounded with special sheets connected to a driven ground rod, also helps with allergies and immune system function. It's been documented that being earth grounded as much as possible helps with reducing pain and inflammation. For most people the only time we are earth grounded is when water coming out of the faucet hitting our body. I now do the lawn work barefoot as much as possible to be grounded and feel better too. 😀 👣
Ha, I mow lawn barefoot too. I learned the hard way from my full barefoot video that no one cares about actually going barefoot, so I'll have to sneak these tips in with other videos. (:
How about eggs, do you eat eggs?
On and off. They seem to give me acne, but I'm not 100% sure. If in doubt, stick to grass-fed beef, bison, elk, and salmon. Most people don't have allergies with those.
@@AndrewFolts thank you so much for responding to me. Can you please to a video on "What I eat in a week to cure my allergies?" I have really strong allergies and I kind of feel like my options are so limited I don't know what to eat anymore. I'd like to know what a meal looks like when you were trying to cure yourself from allergies
@@lanhoang6502 Yea, I've been wanting to, just need the time. If you want to make things super simple in the beginning, here's a very low-effort diet plan. Mind, I'm not a nutritionist, so take any advice with a grain of salt. All you need to do is make a giant salad bowl of the following 2-3 times per day, along with 8+ glasses of filtered (de-chlorinated) water. - grass-fed beef (as much as you are ok with) - large handful of baby lettuce - 1/2 avocado - 1 apple or pear - 1/8 lemon juice (or more, to taste) - drizzle of virgin olive oil - sprinkle of sea or pink salt (to taste) There are many more things you can introduce after this, but starting out minimal helps you establish a baseline that should significantly reduce allergies in 1-2 weeks. Beef is a complete food and can be relied on for quite a while as your main source of nutrition. Just make sure to buy all organic, as non-organic can have pesticides, which is another allergy cause. Adding some lemon juice to your water can help with meat digestion, as well. If it moves you in the right direction, write back to me and I'll give you some more foods to try introducing.
Thank you so much for such a detailed advice. I'll definitely do it. I do also other meat like turkey, chicken that I can get from the farm of people I know. Where I live grass-fed beef is not a thing, there's organic beef though. I can also find wild meat like boar, deer and wild fish as well I'll add some other leafy green as I can tolerate all leafy greens. I saw in other videos you also recommend fasting so I'm doing that too Thanks again and I just SUBSCRIBED!
@@lanhoang6502 Nice! Wild game is a great option. Even local farm meat can be an issue for allergies tho, so just make sure the animals aren't being fed allergy-inducing foods, like hybridized corn and grains, especially, wheat.
Yeah u had me at vegan I don't want be vegan .😊
You don't have to be vegan to cure your allergies, just avoid dairy, processed junk food, and gluten (unless it's Einkorn/un-hybridized sourdough). High quality organic meat is fine.
Its interesting, most vegans say getting rid of meat helps, most carnivores say getting rid of veggies help.... So what the fuck? :(
I suspect it's getting rid of dairy/gluten that's the key for both, since those are the #1 and #2 top allergens in the world when it comes to food. But everyone has a different gut flora, so you just have to try things and see what works.
"by the end of the summer my allergies were gone" - that's the definition of seasonal allergies
It would be if they had come back next season, but they've been 100% gone all year around for four years now, which means they were cured.
Parasites
Yea, another pesky cause of inflammation.
Meat is very healthy, it's just stuff like processed meat that's the issue. Nice, clean meat will only benefit you. The only reason to avoid meat is if someone is older than 45, at which point reducing animal proteins slightly is beneficial.
Yea, wild fish and game are a great option!
Me at 29, blobbering mess, stress is definitely a big part, time to get that diet on track again and reduce the stress, zyrtecs helps but dry you out all day all the time
Ha yea, the Zyrtec Desert! Nature walks are a cheap easy way to lower stress., and they won't dry you out...unless you literally live in the Sahara, ha!
You get a lot of sneezing fits?
Thank you!
You got it Beverly! (:
