How can a fully functional, top-of-the-line camera from just 10 years ago be of no use anymore?... If that were so, then any such camera purchased today, would soon be worthless as well --- yet these cameras of today are often touted as if no worthy cameras existed before them (just as the 10 year-old cameras were touted... 10 years ago). If it took great pictures then, it should take great pictures now as well, unless it's broken or some crazy incompatibility arose preventing its use.

Technology is always "the best so far", not the "the best there will be". The cost of manufacturing new tech reduces every year, and as a result the pace at which things grow is exponential. Are you familiar with Moore's Law? It is observed that, "The number of transistors on a microchip doubles about every two years with a minimal cost increase." What's possible today is completely out-shined tomorrow. We see that in the rise of "AI" specifically AI videos. What was possible two years ago is utterly rubbed out compared to what's possible now. We had dial up internet in the 90s and early 2000s...we couldn't think to survive on that today, but it was really good for us..back then, because we didn't know a better life.

I have 2 of these as insurance replacements from 2012. I have no real interest in video only stills. I have a several EF lenses & will use these 2 bodies to start in Sport this fall. Sport is not just about the action there are so many other areas of sport that make up a story such as press conferences or features. If I had the financial option I would completely uongrade my entire gear to a mirror less system.

@divergentus11 ай бұрын
There’s nothing inherently wrong with them, but technology has moved past compact flash, so we now have SD and other types of formats that we now use over compact flash
@budgetphotography41311 ай бұрын
@@budgetphotography413 OK, just wondering maybe your CF slot was faulty. I find I get much better performance with the CF card in my Mk4 because the SD card is limited to high speed only (no UHS-I or -II), while the camera can use the fast UDMA-7 CF cards that even improve the original specs, taking burst in RAW from 26 to 31 frames. And these UDMA-7 cards are like 1/2 the price of new formats. Long live the Mk4.
