  • You always do a great job showing enthusiasm and passion for Tamiya's and certainly run them and show they are not the fragile things some folk believe! Yes in moderation with Tamiya's no silly power or skate park craziness! Plus by the way my vote goes to the original looking HS2 its a very classic look!

    • Yeah but that’s the great thing about being an adult RC enthusiast, you can afford real RC’s that can handle proper bashing and fun! Tamiya looks like cheap plastic you’d get for a Christmas present as a 10 year old child.

    • @@ryanjofre lol you got one part right mate! Yes l was indeed 10 when l got my first tamiya in 1983! But you have missed the point though like many do when it comes to Tamiya and Kyosho especially if only been into the hobby for the last 10 or so years! Tamiya are about nostalgia and building kits and running cars you had or so wanted in the past as kids! See you had to of been around in the 80s/90s golden era to appreciate that and what tamiya stand for and are all about! I have my Stampede for bashing but l get much greater enjoyment running my Hotshot or Sand Scorcher on the beach then bashing something like a Traxxas or Arrma l have no general connection too! Yeah its fun but the feeling is way off!

    • @@MadBeeRC I’m 44 mate! Kyosho is top of the line…100% Top shelf. Their carbon composite parts are outstanding! I have a ZX-5 I’ve had since 2013 but only ran for a couple months. I just bought more carbon parts, hop ups and a new Mamba Max and Bluetooth B Link. I’m gonna get it up and running this month finally and try 3s lipo for the time on the 5700kv motor. I understand what your saying implicitly but Tamiya just didn’t float my boat mate!

    • @ryanjofre Yeah l see we are a different breed! I am old school totally in this hobby! Tamiya does do great carbon gear with all their TRF stuff and Kyosho do some great modern stuff too but it doesn't interest me a lot! Not that l am not interested but its the vintage Tamiya and rere vintage designed cars that is my passion! The Kyosho Legendary series fits in this too! I was just making the point that these old designs can still in rere form give it some beans considering they are a 30+ years old in design! Amazing considering! Yeah l get your point if someone never had anything to do with tamiya in the past they wouldn't have built up that relationship and love affair like us old tamiya fan boys have and if you compare lets say the new TD4 to any other modern buggy it would get a kicking but tamiya's have a special appeal to old boys like me lol. I appreciate the bashers and modern cars they are so tough but they don't float my boat like you said! Haha the diversity in this hobby is massive!

Back in the olden days of the 80s when Ibsas wee, the Hotshot was never my favourite of all the Taniyas I used to lust over. I always thought it looked a bit plasticy compared to the others. It's really grown on me over the years. Thanks for the vid. Always ace to see and hear old school Tamiyas running.

  • One of the best looking buggies of all time ! but always sounded like a food-mixer at full tilt, and the front suspension geometry is terrible, as the wheels toe-in as the front dips. But still a must have in any vintage RC collection. Fit the optional under guard to save the chassis.

  • I think the HS2 is much more attractive than the Blockhead edition. You should run it with ballbearings and steel pinions, the included alloy pinions are extremly soft and wear down fast.

BUT painted red like the original Hotshot, and id go easy on the blockhead stickers (theyre a bit much for me, id keep a couple of the smaller ones) also wouldnt put the number plates on.. its the raised cage on the blockhead that makes it look a whole lot better.. but i actually ended up with a super hotshot as i got a super good deal pricewise and it has ALL the upgrades already fitted.. and yes again i will be altering the stickers and painting it OG hotshot red.. HOTSHOTS (all derivatives) should be Red! LOL

  • Wrong Dampers!!!!... :P Luckily I am a hoarder, and got a full set of the 'classic' dampers in red. I must have had them for at least 15 or 20 years. Can't remember how I got them. Probably bought in a bulk-sale, or something. I'll be getting this kit anyways. By the by, a rough sandpit is basically what those old buggies were made for. Circuits were róugh, in "Ye Olde Days" . A friend had the original with a Dynatech 02H in it with a 13t pinion. It fléw. Cooked/burnt the MSC but good too. :lol: .. On a side note : The front-slap can only be 'fixed' by using the 1-hole pistons with 70 thickness losi oil and a hard spring. The spring in the kit is way too soft and gets too bouncy when using the spacers. Orr, source the original dampers and use its 1 hole piston. The ' old' shocks work fine with 500cps oil. The tolerance of the pistons is much more precise.

He used our actual color robes and made fun of the tradition of kids getting cars as presents for graduating (rich town) and I always die laughing when Hoops gets his street sweeper. I did not get anything for graduating other than a diploma. I did buy myself a Tamiya NIssan King Cab with money I made working at a pizza place in Old Greenwich as my own present to myself for graduating and broke it on the first run at the BMX track you film at. Took almost the whole summer to get the new diff as parts were scarce. EDIT: What kind of blasphemy is this running a 'Shot chassis with no whip antenna?!?!

    @somefuckingprick@somefuckingprick3 ай бұрын
    • The main difference is the rear on the Hotshot 2 has twin oil shocks and the original Hotshot has mono rear oil shock! The front shock on both are mono shocks and slightly different in design and the bodyshell is different and also if talking vintage they had different style resistors! and the HS2 had a little cover in the chassis you could open for access but very similar buggies generally! Hope that helps! Cheers.
