Mario Kart 7 is really great, but what will forever hurt me is the fact THERE IS NO VERSUS MODE. If it just had that, I would have so much fun just playing through all the tracks in any order I would want. Sadly the only way to do it in single player is time trails, otherwise just have to playthrough the Grand Prixes with their track order.

Yeah ryderkartdx you're right this game is really underrated, and I feel like this is a game that not so many people talks about compere to Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. But maybe they/we should, because this is actually a really fun Mario Kart game. Sure it doesn't have VS mode or Waluigi and all that, but thats ok because Mario Kart 7 has in my opinion a pretty good Character Roster and the best selection of courses in the entire series. Especially the Retro Courses, like almost every slot in Mario Kart 7's Retro Grand Prix is a fan favorite.
I'm glad that my last official server online race in Mario Kart 7 was a win on Airship Fortress, one of my all time favorites. I'll definitely check out the Pretendo servers eventually, although I'm focused on other games right now. I'm so happy to see fans keeping Wii U and 3DS online alive.
My last race was on Rainbow Road! Sadly, I was in 6th place, but it was a fun final contest!

The only experience I have with these tracks are in Mario Kart Tour. And I have to say Shy Guy Bazaar is one of my favorites. The music just fits.
I can’t be the only person who understands the name Rock Rock Mountain. It comes from the fact that it’s a mountain of rock, and the song that plays is of the rock genre. So it’s actually an awesome name.

All of the anchors and the purple coloring of Wario Shipyard/Wario's Galleon always stood out to me, but I swear it was always my bad luck track online.

@@morganmandell3927 Yeah I know but 8 was much more successful than 7. Plus 7 has no unique features now 8 has been out for 10 years, making it less appealing for most to go back to and less distinct.

Airship Fortress is one of my favorite tracks in the game, but I agree with you that the end is the weakest part, and I hope an eventual second remake improves on that part of the track.

When I play Mario Kart with my dad and we get DK Jungle he tends to bring up that the end would be a lot cooler if the pillars actually fell like in the game.
I agree that it's hard going back to 7's version of Kalimari Desert after playing the one in 8 Deluxe. All 3 laps being the same and the train hardly being an obstacle makes 7's version vastly inferior.
While I slightly prefer DK Mountain to Dino Dino Jungle, I definitely want to see Dino Dino Jungle in HD in the next Mario Kart. That new glider ramp in the cave in Mario Kart 7 is such a great addition.

The gliding in this game is honestly unparalleled. Rock Rock Mountain does not play nearly as well in MK8 Deluxe, and it and Toad Circuit look a hell of a lot better on the 3DS. 3DS Rainbow Road I also prefer how it looks in the original: gliding with a mushroom on the Saturn-like rings in the second section and landing down close to the ramp is the most exhilarating feelings ever, and the final turn is tilted just the right way to make me feel as though I'm at the top of the world. I don't like how MK8 Deluxe smoothed both this curve and the one before gliding on to the rings instead of leaving them tilted like they were.

As someone who loves Daisy Cruiser, I find it odd you penalize Airship and Pinball for lacking shortcuts, but you don't for Cruiser. Very fun video otherwise, my top 3 is very close to yours.
I do find Daisy Cruiser to also have a more charming atmosphere, and its potential feels more fully realized than in those other two maps (which feel kinda wasted in terms of layout), hence why it ended up higher!

While I think 3DS Bowser's Castle is the weakest 3D Bowser's Castle, it's grown on me over the years. It is so much different than the others. I'm glad the developers tried something new instead of just having another giant mechanical Bowser.

Calling DKC Returns bland is wiiiild- We all have our own opinions tho. Personally I'm a huge fan of the game and think the art direction is genuinely incredible, though again, to each their own. d:
And here's my ranking of the retro tracks. I'll judge them by how I like the original version, how fitting the difficulty is for the cup that they're in, and how these tracks were changed: 16) SNES Rainbow Road. It's just SO BORING when it isn't as brutally hard as the OG version. Especially for a finale. Plus, nothing happens! If it was the finale of the Leaf Cup or the starter/second track of the Lightning Cup, maybe it would have been more acceptable? But no! Despite being easier than some Mushroom & Shell Cups, it's the finale for some reason. WHY?! 15) N64 Kalimari Desert. Okay sorry, I had to do this. I don't care about the fact it has a train, it's so BORING! The course has nothing to do in the Leaf Cup, and the only good thing from the OG version's layout has been removed! Like, the good music is the only thing that didn't make me want to have this track get the N64 Wario Stadium treatment! 14) N64 Luigi Raceway. This is a boring starter course that still feels more acceptable than the two previous tracks because being the starter course of the Shell Cup, it doesn't feel out of place. 13) SNES Mario Circuit 2. It actually got a great glow-up with the glider section! But... the rest is still a boring SNES circuit with not enough changes... yeah... *falls asleep* 12) GBA Bowser Castle 1. The layout of this track might be one of the most boring layouts in the whole series! Fortunately, it gets saved by its glow-up and banger metal music. But... yeah, it's the 2nd weakest Bowser Castle track in the whole franchise. What did you expect? 11) Wii Butchered Koopa Cape. OK sorry I had to do this. If the remake was good, it would be ranked higher. But no! This is one of the worst glow-downs in the series. The clear pipe doesn't feel special, the electricity obstacles and water flowing have been removed, the physics have been toned down, the halfpipes are gone, and the glider section is just useless! 10) DS DK Pass. Finally the tracks are starting to get good! This track has cheery music that makes me happy, and the layout is good too. I love the general cozy atmosphere as well. 9) DS Waluigi Pinball. Yeah it's a bit overhyped. I love the concept, but you only spend, like, 10 seconds on the pinball machine. If this part was longer, this track would be better. 8) Wii Mushroom Gorge. Overhyped as well. It's a banger, don't get me wrong! But the theming of this track is a bit boring. It's far from being the best track in MKWii... which shows how perfect MKWii's track selection is! But this is still the least butchered of the Wii remakes. 7) Wii Butchered Coconut Mall. Yeah, I'm surprised that I put it so high. The mall is flooded for no reason, it doesn't feel as alive as in the OG version, they ruined the escalators, and the color palette is really drab. But after all, this is still Coconut Mall! 6) DS Boston Building. Really great remake! The color palette fits this track better, the layout is still good, and the atmosphere is as great as in the DS version! They didn't butcher any aspect of it! 5) Wii Maple Treeway. Even if they removed the halfpipes & the shaking bridge, this is still a classic. The atmosphere is still cozy, the layout is still good, and the scenery is still GORGEOUS!!! But the little glow-downs cost this track a better spot on my list. 4) GCN Daisy Cruiser. Yeah, the GCN tracks are definitely the ones that got the best remakes here. That makes me wish they got more than 2 tracks. Daisy Cruiser is still a classic, with a relaxing atmosphere, and it even got improved with underwater driving and gliding. 3) GCN Dino Dino Jungle. It's a great track! Perfect layout, good music, great scenery, it really feels like a true adventure every lap! The only nitpick I'd have is the removal of the background dinosaurs. Other than that, underrated gem! 2) N64 Koopa Troopa Beach. The best remake of this retro selection. The shortcut is even more satisfying, the color palette is way better than the OG one, the music is a banger, and the underwater griving is used really cleverly here! I also love how the trickable ramps turned out. 1) DS Airship Fortress. This map deserves all the praise it gets. I love it. They didn't butcher anything in this track. The layout is still great, the atmosphere is still menacing and cool, the obstacles are still various, it still feels like a true adventure everytime! This track is sitll a classic, and will probably always be!

This game gets hated on a lot but I also kinda I say kinda grew up on it. 7 is really nice for what it is but the my only gripe is the roster i would say as the courses are pretty nice especially the new ones.

Waluigi pinball that low is criminal
My ranking of the nitros (if you want to hunt me, you'll have to go to brazil first) 16- Cheep Cheep Lagoon/Cape Absolutely sucks to race at and has boring visuals and music. Easely the worst track in the game. 15- Wuhu -Island- Loop Never played Wii Sports Resort so I don't get the refferences, and the course is waaay to boring besides the epic music. 14- Rock Rock Pass Never really been a fan of this one, the gliding section in the middle is kinda whatever for me. Also, can we just appreciate how much nicer it would look if it was set at night? Just look at the DS custom track, it's awesome. 13- Rosalina's Glacier (I love the portuguese translation, sorry) Ice physics + not enough galaxy refferences makes this be pretty low on my ranks, still, the music is amazing. 12- DK Jungle Generic name aside, this track is the definition of mid. I literally forgot to include it until I finished writting about Bowser City. 11- Bowser's Castle I just find this BC to be on the more generic side, with a specially mid music and visuals. Thankfully, the gameplay is actually pretty good, wich doesn't save it from being in the bottom, sadly. 10- Toad Circuit Pretty much the best a first track can get (besides GCN Luigi Circuit). It's charming, fun to race on and has some neat shortcuts at the end. It's still way too simple to be higher. 09- Neo Koopa City Amazing visuals, theming and music, and a fine layout, sadly, I don't think it works well with this games controls. Pretty good track overall. 08- Daisy Hills (btw, it's called that becouse there are daisies on the hills) I just love the vibes this track gives. Also, the shortcut where you have to pass trough the windmills is one of the most creative shortcuts I've ever seen, it genuinely bumps this track a placement. 07- Piranha Plant Pipeslide Ctrl C+Ctrl V of what you said on the video. 06- Melody Motorway (screew Music Park lol) This track gives a lot of abstract vibes. I mean, we're on space were there are giant instruments as parts of the race. And it works beautifully. And it's also fun as heck to drive on! Sadly, I find the music a bit too repetitive, so it's not even higher. 05- Shy Guy Bazaar This track is amazing all the way trough, with every turn having a thing or two that makes it unique. Special highlight to the bazaar itself due to how amazing it looks, how many secrets it has and how good it is to drive trough. Like Melody Motorway, the music keeps this from getting higher. 04- Mario Circuit This is such a underrated masterpiece, with every section being uniquely different from the other. The first section with the cherry blossom trees and the giant turn that feels great to do, the second section with the build-up for entering in the freaking castle, wich has a really tight turn with lots of coins to collect, the gliding section were you can glide all the way until the pipe turn, or fail and have to deal with goombas, it's just amazing. 03- Maka Wuhu Loop Such a amazing journey all the way trough. I could talk about each section like I did with Mario Circuit, but I know this comment is already long enough as it is, so just know I love every single bit of this track. 02- Wario's Galleon/Shipyard I am probably one of the biggest fans of the Wario series, with Captain Syrup being my second most wanted character to become playable in Mario Kart (behind E. Gadd becouse he was scrapped for DS and never returned in tour). Ok, about this track now, it has easely the best theming in this game, wich is a sunken ship. I can't say enough how I love this theme, and they made it look so sick! The music also refferences a lot Wario Land music, wich as said before, I'm a huuuge fan of. And if it wasn't enough, this has easely the best use of underwater in the game, with no competition. 01- Rainbow Road As a kid, I never played MK7, I didn't knew about any of it's courses, until I was recomended by youtube a video showcasing a Rainbow Road, but it wasn't just a Rainbow Road, it had you driving trough space, and planets, and you even drove trough the moon, until I realized, this track did not had 3 laps, it was only one. It was a literal adventure, and I never saw this track again for a long time. Years later, I started following some english content creators and found a video ranking all RR, and there it was, at number 1, the track I had once thought was a dream, actually existed, and was exactly how I remembered seeing. Skipping some time, I got myself to play the track, and it didn't disapointed, it was, as amazing, as I remember it being as a kid. Finally, I just wanted to say sorry for this journal of a comment, no one should need to read trough so much gibberish ;-;
