Ep 146 | Sidecar Struggles | Clutch Rebuild Goes Wrong | French Farmhouse
The engine on the old sidecar is making a horrid noise - it turns out there is a serious clutch problem. Once the clutch has been rebuilt, Peter discovers that the final drive hub is now shot to pieces - can it be fixed?!

We have the loveliest supporters and followers of our KZhead channel 'It's a Wonderful Life'.
We remain committed to provide our content regularly, and of late, to increase the frequency of our vlogs. We have and continue to receive, many kind requests, to send gifts, or in some way help us financially with our channel.
We have given this a great deal of thought. Whilst 'Patreon' and 'go fund me' are out of the question for us, we feel the 'buy me a coffee platform' (or for us, a cup of tea!) would be a great way to do this, especially in light of its ease of use and non ongoing commitment.
Any contribution towards maintaining and hopefully enhancing our channel is very much appreciated, but never expected.
Lovely to see another video from you Peter. Hope you and Anna and your family of feather and fur are well and happy x
Thank you for sharing. Love and Blessings to you all. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏 Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
I look forward to seeing the completion of these repairs.
So interesting to see another type of project . as usual your attention to detail shines through !
Sending love and light xx ❤❤
Love classic cars and bikes but not a clue about the engines..but even I understood what you were up to with your repairs!! 😂😂😂... Lovely vlog. Take care guys ❤❤❤
That looked a pain to do Peter .i daresay it will not be long when you and Anna can have a ride in it. Loved watching as always😘
Chicken so cute! ❤❤
Love this ... as a classic motorcycle enthusiast. Such jobs are never ending
❤❤❤❤HI Peter and Anna. The work on the vintage cycle is interesting. ❤❤❤
Nice to see you both on a sunny day 🤗🤗 Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Poor Minnie glad you are looking after her :) I can't imagine how you know all this about vintage motorbikes how very smart you are Peter I wonder if those bearings just flew out while riding. It's a good thing you take the time to make sure everything is working and get needed repairs done.
You and me both! We are pleased that we caught the problem in time - as you say that would be catastrophic if it failed out in the field!!
Welcome back! Good vlog
Interesting to watch you repair the gear box. It brings back memories of my youth when my then boyfriend was always tinkering with the engine and gear box on his Triumph Tiger 750. Happy days 😁
I have finally caught up to your videos. Only discovered your channel a few months ago and so went through all the chateau vids and now up to date with your farmhouse. I absolutely love the content on your channel and look forward to seeing more. Cheers from Vancouver Island.
BEST WISHES TO YOU
Mmmmm i should do something on my old BSA B40 engine, nice watching you, gorgeous machine.
Just curious, it is possible that the bearing cage failed and allowed all of the bearing balls to roll together. You may not have "lost" any balls. Check the number of balls in the replacement bearing, or evenly space the balls apart for a visual check. Cheers, Jim
Any chance of seeing the finished goose house
Interesting video, many thanks 😊
Love.y vlog as always interesting viewing 😊
Funny about the bearing in final drive. Years ago i had a 1970s version of these and the bearing at the rear of the engine was making a noise. When I took it apart the bearing had collapsed and the balls were nowhere to be found. Luckily it was a standard bearing which I bought at a local supply house. I did the repair and rode the bike after that but never found what happened to the broken pieces. Obviously I had the crank out and looked in the engine case but nothing there.
What a change from your usual content but I for one found it most interesting. I don't think I have ever come across such an unusual motorcycle drive train arrangement before. I think it was a shame that the pressure plate retaining screws had a straight slot as opposed to an allen key head which I would have thought would have allowed them to be tightened to a higher torque. Then again, it has lasted for eighty years!
Would love to see your MG34 on the side car mount!!!🫡
Peter...If I may be so bold....having seen glimpses of your passion for the 1940s and WW2 in genetal, I'd love for you to share more content in that area....maybe even a second channel?? Just from one military historian/collector to another 😎
hi, wow what a motorcycle to be restoring, I wonder if the last time the drive shaft was open was on manufacture? if so it might explain the lack of BB's ? I'm sure I've seen you and your good lady at Maximums?
i take it its a WW2 replica as that engine looks way to modern. is it a ural with a bmw engine?
