My 1986 Citroen GSA Special is for sale. Join us for a walk around and let me know if you'd like to buy her.
Because French merchandise is available at hubnut.org but perhaps not for long...
#carforsale #citroen
A pity Giselle's leaving the fleet but at the same time I can see your reasons for doing so. You have plenty of machines even with her departure and they're all small enough to fit in the unit! At GBP3,495 it's a steal too.
Well, I'm not sure about the 'steal' bit, the last time I bought a GSA, admittedly some time ago, I paid.....£495. I know it's now a classic but at the end of the day, it's ?35 years old and has problems. I know that some aspects of even routine care are complicated and unless exorbitant restoration is undertaken, she aint gonna last......for that alone I wouldn't be making an offer and as it's been owned and driven by Ian "earnest thrasher" hubnut welll......😁. No offence Ian but I couldn't let you test my allroad, even though it's the reliable 2.7, she's got 218,000 on her and those tensioners won't take an Italian tune up hubnut style.😂 But there's someone out there drooling over it and you'll get a fair price for her.
@@iandennis7836 😂
The GSA is a type of car that needs more time spent nursing it, but that becomes particularly hard when you’ve got all those other cars to maintain as well. 👍🏻
It's a shame to see my favourite car go, but I've been expecting this for a while to be honest. As much as I'd love for you to keep Giselle forever, you've got to do what's right for you and the channel going forward. I shall carry on watching and supporting regardless!
If it's your favourite, buy it! 🙄
@@Codzilla71that’s what i was about to say
Twin Cam was saying he wanted to drive a GS. Lets have a collaboration! 😁 Its always been a fun watch when Giselle was the star. Loved how she floats along the roads.
Please don't subject us to that. Half-joking.
Giselle is so nice and she just would get worse sitting in the damp unit and driven so little. So it's best for everyone for her to get a new loving home.
True that unit is so damp in the winter its best for it in the long run to find a new home
One of the most honest car sales I think ive ever seen. Well done, and all the best to the new owner.
I'm going to miss Giselle a lot on the channel. She was my favourite black car on the fleet. Plus my favourite HubNut car that has beige velour seats with press stud headrests.
Miss Hubnut is right, £3.5K is very cheap as an entry into classic car ownership. Try buying a Ford Escort of that era for a few grand. If you're lucky you might get a rotten shell with a siezed engine. A very Sunday afternoon car, to take you back to those happy days.👌
You rarely see a decent 2cv for under £5 grand now, so Giselle is a blinkin' bargain.
Get the wrench, Ian, but saw it coming ... A suggestion: to compensate for the loss of this French marvel AND to create even more space, why not sell Bella as well and go for a Citroën CX Familiale 2.5 D with tow bar? As quirky and floaty or even more so than Giselle, lots more space than Bella and very frugal in diesel-form? Seeing as, as you say, you want to do more collection capers, this could be the next one: one (new) car replacing two! Just an idea ...
Ha! Betty is big enough. Had a Familiale before. They're enormous!
@@HubNut BX 1.7 trd Estate (That what my dad replaced his GS with. )
I was thinking the same. A BX Cottage
Ideal as a starter classic.
Honestly well overdue ❤ and not something you're going to be losing money by selling.
Absolutely brilliant video Ian miss hubnut ❤👍well you gave her love and she made you happy time to let her make someone else happy brilliant
I am affraid the steering wheel is in fact on the wrong side of the car- in addition to that the car itself is on the wrong side of the English Channel.. appart from that I would be tempted
Short answer - Yes! ❤
Was just a matter of time, good to see her go to a new home😊
Sad to see her go but its perfectly understandable. Good luck with the sale and keep up with the awesome content.
Bargain! I'd make a swipe at it if I wasn't so hooked on getting a MK1 Twingo. Love the GSA and Giselle is a wonderful example for the price. 👌
I have to disagree with you.
@@Codzilla71in what way?
@@aston-martin-internationalist I disagree it's a "bargain" and that it's "a wonderful example for the price". I could be wrong; let's see how quickly she sells!
@@Codzilla71I guess it's all relative. I think it's peanuts and the body is in good shape.
Giselle will be missed terribly but time never stands still... unless your watch has stopped... but time still moves on and the watch is wrong. Anyway it's been an adventure with Giselle on the channel but as you say you need the space. I have the same feeling as when Foxann was up for adoption, a terrific member of the fleet but her time had come. I hope Giselle's new parents whoever they may be love her as much as us subscribers have over the years. Thanks for sharing.
Thats a very cool car, reminds me of my Uncle Stanley's car, a GS model , he was given one as a retirement present from his boss in 1975, it was pure white and i was 7 years old at the time, now 56 and still remember it. 👍
My Uncle Stanley had one too, after his Saab 95. It was a T-reg GS Estate. Sadly I didn't often get the chance to travel in it, and I don't remember how long he had it.
Giselle is what brought me to your channel... I would really come and get her... A GSA Special from 1980 also with 1.3l and 5 speed was my first car! Only thing is Giselle does have the steering wheel on the wrong side!
Sad to see Giselle go but needs must.
So sad to se Giselle go but, at the same time, I'm very much looking forward to the new project.
I'm now all the happier that I got to see Giselle in 'person' at Radwood a year or two ago. Wish I was in a position to take it on but I'm not. Good luck with the sale!
I've had my driving licence a full 27 years longer than soon-to-be-Mrs HubNut MkII but I've never driven a GSA. Or a GS, CX, SM, Visa, 2CV, Xsara Picasso, Saxo VTS, C6... or indeed, any Citroën of any description. Not even a hired van. I knew this day was coming but I'll carry on wearing the Because French t-shirt with pride. Au revoir to the closest ever member of the HubNut fleet that I'd have in my Ideal Garage of Chod.
Cannot believe your selling her she is a beautiful car I never seen one before until I started watching your channel and the first time I seen her thought what a beautiful car wish I had the cash too buy her. I’ve just started a Volvo 850 saloon restoration project myself. Love the channel 👍
That's a very reasonable price! Especially as you have looked after her so well.
Good one from Miss Hubnut at the end😂
Love the shinny paint you csn see the refection of your orange jumper on bonnet
Probably a sensible decision to sell, especially as it will fund further projects which will generate loads more content for us all to enjoy. Will make a nice usable classic for someone.
I've been expecting this for a while, but things must move forward.
Giselle is such a cute car, and a fleet favourite, it will be a shame to see her go, but hopefully she will go to another good home❤.
I'm very tempted at that price!
Sad to see her go😢, but she deserves more attention! I hope you’ll find a new and good home for her so she gets lots of TLC! I fully understand your decision ! 👍🏻👍🏻🆙
I think you're spot on that a bit more churn, with more collection capers will help the channel. 👍
I feel your pain, I'm letting my SLK go after 11yrs and regretting it already 😥
This has been coming for a while now. It's one of my and many other's favourites but you probably have too many keepers as it is. I'm exited to see what you're going to bring on to the channel over the coming weeks, months and years
Wish I could afford it, beautiful car. Good luck with the sale!
I had one 93’ I didn’t realise at the time what a great vehicle it was 🤦♂️
I predict Bella won't be far behind. Sad to see one of your main cars go but understand needs must.
yes bella is getting tired i suspect it will turn into a money pit
@carlsmith6756 there best bet if they still want a berlingo is to get a 1.6 as they seem to be quite reliable. My grandad has one that he bought new
Lovely car. I'm sure she'll be cherished by her new owners.
So sad to see the gsa go, it's one of the cars I always regret not getting. Sadly I don't have the budget but I'm positive one of your great followers will buy and enjoy
I'm not surprised Giselle is going. Good luck with the sale. 😁
I understand the need for money, Its very very tough for many. Seem odd though to get rid of one of the most reliable
With loads of followers Ian, I'm sure someone will buy Giselle. All the best for the sale. 😊👍
Wish you luck with this sale, she is a lovely car.
I would buy it immediately, but unfortunately it is RHD. I live in Poland. It was the last Citroen I dreamed about in the past, but you made me a GSA fan. Not psycho-fan, but a strong fan. Fortunately for my wallet I couldn't find a proper maintained GSA in my neighborhood. :) Cheers from PL EDIT: I hope Giselle would find a good new home.
It would be wonderful on the horrid back roads of Poland, where you need all the help you can get from the suspension.
@@erik_dk842: the back roads of Poland are probably in better condition than British roads
@@smhorse Some asphalt left between the potholes?
I wish I could 😭 I’d love her. She’s a beautiful car
God that's wonderful.
Giselle has the makings of a superb classic in the right tenacious hands. being a 1300cc 5-speed Speciale it's the right car. I'm fascinated to see the next video with the final sale price and new owner. good luck guys!
Sad news, but I think us Hubnutters completely understand. I hope that she goes to a good home. Long live Giselle.
Not the decision I would have made but to each their own - good luck with the sale and can’t wait to see what’s next!!!
I called it a few months ago , when you teased previously, the Daihatsu Sirion went that time.
That's sad. It bought back memories my uncle have one in blue. That's was in 1980s. I hope you find good home it. Have nice weekend.
A lovely classic at a very reasonable price. If like the DS new seat covers to match factory ones can be obtained and fitted yourself. Au revoir Gisselle.
Good luck
I was in same predicament recently bought a 2013 Fiat 500 in Yellow but also had my old i10 Hyundai so sadly my i10 had to go , it was a shame as the car was in a great condition apart from being a cat N car for a minor dent , The Fiat 500 ended up costing me a lot more £800 on new clutch and gearbox repair as the dealer never told me they were broken lol he did pay half the cost after i had to get the Motoring Ombudsman involved , anyway hope Giselle goes to a good home she has served you well even with the weird Alternator battery issues.
".... faster she goes, the easier it gets...". As I recall from back in the day, this was part of the reason why so few of these lasted. New owners were used to the idea that when you drove faster in a car, it would let you know by the increasing noises and general roughness of the experience. The smoothness, and revability of the GS's resulted in lots being run into the ground before their time.
I guess we are all different, but to me, this would require a great deal of work [at great expense] to get her right. Here I am with a 20 year old Volvo estate with 176,329 miles which I am going to sell, yet just had the alloys refurbished, 2 stage paintwork buff and new windscreen just to present it in its best state to go with the many thousands spent on mechanical work because I believe it is more desirable and will sell quickly verses others of same vintage and mileage
Hope Giselle goes to a good home are you keeping the smart once it is repaired another great video has always Ian and Carly miss/mrs hubnut and hublets and hubmutt 👍
Sad to see Giselle go - I’ll miss her up and down suspension and mental dashboard - but if you need space, and funds to spend on other projects, then so be it. She’s a beautiful GSA, so I’m sure she’ll find a good home!
Oh M !!! I understand.:)
Understandable Sale and can see it both in your faces that its also a hard sale, worthwhile advertising on the Citroen Car Club?? Got my chance meet Giselle at the Hubnut Social in April 2022. Wishing you the best for the sale.
Ian & Carly, I'm in the same situation. I've just sold one of my cars. When needs must...
Cool car Ian . Will sell quick and I can see where your coming from but 30 cars is my number at moment
Aw sad to see floaty Giselle go, fair choice though and sure she will find a worthy new home for the next few chapters of her adventures. Looking forward to more project work and future colletion capers!
Having had a GSA in my 20's I can say with the rear seats down A 6ft5 me can sleep in it at a festival. (Festival type things may have been used to help me sleep. but it is possible. ) If I had spare (any) money I would snap your hand off to buy her.
Sad to see the gsa go ,one of the best cars on the fleet ,hopefully it goes to a good new home where it can be driven regularly
Damn it... would love to take on Giselle, but i got to much projects, and not enough room for her. These GS, and GSA's are so cool, they are rare in Scandinavia too.
Adieu Giselle. A beautiful French old lady with style, even if her hydraulic works aren't what they were when she was younger. So many channel viewers are going to miss her... The GS family were my favourite eccentric French cars. I remember the huge crowds round the Citroën stand at the London Earl's Court Motor Show gawping at the first RHD car before deliveries built up - no rotating drum speedo back then for us Brits, no oddball trapezium revcounter either, BUT that astonishing flat-four overhead cam engine 280-odd c.c. smaller than Giselle's. Almost at the end of the production run about 16 years later she is, as you both say, a much better car for her bigger 1299 engine, a cruising 5th gear, and with even more quirky interior design features than her older plain sisters of the early 1970s (yay, not one but TWO rotating drums - and the superb indicators, wipers and lights switches cylinder). I hope her new owner lavishes much love and pride on her; she really deserves it.
Can’t wait for the next collection caper. Please don’t put it in the thumbnail next time though. The surprise reveal is half the fun!
A shame, but inevitable. Watching you struggle with her the last few years it's been obvious her time was coming, though with how nice she's ended up there's no doubt she'll live a good life with someone new for a long time yet! With so many keepers in the fleet it's only natural that a few long-termers have to leave eventually, and I'll miss Giselle but hope that having her gone will make things easier for you (and perhaps open up a slot for something new?? though you've only just purchased the Pajero...)
We have had a lot of fun watching Hubnut tinkering with this car and having spent a lot of money on it I think it is time to let somebody else to keep it on the road
Foxanne gone Giselle going, both my favourites😢
When you moved the Foxanne on, i figured that this could be next. I always thought that this could be a keeper like the Eilie. I have no doubt that you'll miss it. Next to go should be either the Smart or Mitsibushi
There comes a time to move cars on but the paint on Gisselle is pretty good a mirror finish and the dash board switches are very good selling points and MOT documents a bit of history work shop manuals and brochures great selling points it will sell
I was tempted, I have to say... Then I put the reg into TfL's ULEZ checker, and found I'd have to pay £12.50 every day I took her out. So, unfortunately, I have to pass 😢 Good luck with the sale, Ian, I'm sure she won't hang around for long.
Most interesting car of the fleet, I must say, but probably just not good enough an example to carry on. You are going to miss her.
FWIW I gad never thougt about Citroen GSs at all until your channel and I now think thry are fab and sort if want one (only sort if at the moment but that may change.
IMO it would have been a good Hubnut car thirty years ago but it's become a bit precious and exotic now. My favourite cars are mainly French, but these are too complex and tempremental for me. A nice car in many ways which I'm sure will go to a good home.
Interestingly I'm regularly using an 81 gsa and it's amazingly un temperamental. Regularly my vehicle of choice. I've slept in the back several times. Comfortable at motorway speeds. Plenty of poke. Great ride. Excellent cars to own and very few on the road.
Same here - been daily driving my GSA for a few months now and it hasn't missed a beat! Amazing cars, someone is going to be very happy with Giselle.
I am so terribly sad to see Giselle leaving, as she is definitely one of my most favourites Hubcars, especially as the GSA is such a super ultra rare car! If I didn't live on the other side of the world, over in Western Canada, I would be hammering down your door to buy it without a moment's hesitation!!! We can't get Citroens over here, or any wonderfully quirky French cars of any kind, unfortunately. I can understand your reasons for selling her, but on a personal note, I feel Hubnut will be a little poorer for her departure, because I especially look forward to and love watching the more quirky cars on Hubnut (Tuk and Ellie). Please make sure she only goes to someone who will preserve and take very good care of her of us, thanks guys. I remain ever hopeful that one of these days you guys will add a Daf to the Hubnut stable, it would fit in perfectly!
Quite an understandable decision, she’s just too nice and there are cars more suitable for the channel than a pristine classic, which isn’t what your channel is about. I’m quite excited to see these funds go towards your other projects, especially hoping to see something with TWC in the future.
Will be sad to see Giselle go and know how much she means to you i have always loved her and seeing your adventures but understand why completely hopefully she finds a lovely new home soon Daniel
Not the end, but a the start of a new chapter for Giselle. Hopefully, she'll find an owner (wish it was myself) that loves her and cares for her just as much as you two do.
IOM motor museum maybe? They have a small collection of older Citroens including a rotary engined one, might be worth a shot.
Such a nice GSA is too good for Hubnut fleet.
Oh no, I knew this time would come. I'm at once hugely conflicted because I'm saddened that Hubnut will be without Giselle, and immediately torn because I would love to have Giselle. How do I swing that: a VW enthusiast that now has two CX and wants a GSA. Hmm.....
Like all good TV shows, sometimes a much-loved character must move to pastures new.
Sad. She’s such a lovely specimen. I hope it never falls into the “cars I sold” regret bucket like me.
I’d love her but my wife wouldn’t love me if I were to purchase Giselle 😂 Hope to see her at a Citroen gathering or two through the year!
I really hope she finds a good home. I love her to bits, but I understand why she has to go.
If only the steering was on the other side. Good luck with the sale. Am sure the next purchaser would love it if all Clan HubNut autographed Giselle and it came with a family portrait
A lovely car for someone with space and time enough for the love and minor fettling an uppy-downy Citroen of a certain age needs. Sadly, I have neither, but I'm sure someone will. Best of luck with your sale.
I think for someone with the time & money to spare (it isn’t the upfront price, it’s the maintenance going forward) it’s a great idea. Better to spend some money on this than leaving it in a savings account…because the value of cars like this will soon rocket to the moon, as we have seen with others already. ..and gov net zero policy (moving to electric cars) will absolutely speed up that shift in value….of many “modern classics”
Thanks but i will wait for the little Mitsubishi 🙂
It will be a shame to see her go and the new owner will have no surprises to attend to due to your honest and genuine description of her. Lets hope she will be as loved by the next keeper.
I can understand what your doing it needs to be driven more regularly than is possible with the fleet you have it would slowly need more and more money put into it . 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Sad to see Giselle go but good luck with the sale 😁
Its your channel at the end of the day. Easily the best car in the fleet. Sad to see it go. But if it means you actually focus on other projects then all good!😂 Speaking of which, just drop the engine on the smart and fix it properly! It will be so entertaining to watch……😊
AY UP MR AND MRS HUBNUT........AND BY BY GISELLE
It's always hard to let go of a car that's become part of your family, but yes, you do have the Pajero and Smart car about to come on stream. Hope Giselle goes to a good home. I remember when you had the full hubcaps on it when you came back from Australia but I didn't remember why you'd taken them off.
