Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and liking my videos. You can also find me on Facebook facebook.com/borderviewfarms and on Instagram @borderviewfarms

  • I’m not knocking you, we are all used to modern conveniences. Can you fathom not that many years ago tractors didn’t have cabs and we only ran 4 row implements! Those old boys are way tougher than we are!

    @bigt2871@bigt287118 күн бұрын
    • I don't think the old boys were any tougher, I'm 76 and turning 77 in couple months, so I"m one of the old boys. Just retired from farming helper last fall, then he still called me back for the last 10 days of harvest, started when 14 and only missed 4 yrs while in the Navy. And I"ve been in "modern luxurious" tractor cabs a few times with no A/C. Nathan handled it a lot better than me..

    • Way hotter in a sealed cab with no A/C than an open station tractor. More dusty and loud? Yes lol

  • The Millennial Farmer got a new planter with a light kit on the planter itself. You may consider adding some lights on the field cultivator and packer and other equipment. Yes, I know, more light and wiring problems, just what you need. Have a good spring!

  • Some may think your whining about the AC not working but they don’t realize being inside the cab surrounded by glass gets super hot especially with the engine and transmission heat all cooking the cab ! Hopefully you’re got the planter issue fixed 🤞🤞🇺🇸

  • Remember when we lost the air in the 8630. Boss thought we were pussys until he got in it at a late lunch for me. Came back and told my dad to get Kellers out here. Your setting on a mound HEAT. I FEEL FOR YOU.

  • Good to see you back in the fields , kinda feels like a season debut after months of reruns (although I probably enjoy the shop months more). Get a good rest so you can hit tomorrow wide open.

  • Good Morning from Austin TX. Glad you (ya'll) got started. I understand the frustrations and you took it well! Enjoyed the irony of it all. (i was gonna use sarcasm but it is a form of irony directed at a person, with the intent to criticise. Which is not my intent) Can anyone else come up with another name for this video? I was thinking, 'Nate in the Traveling Dry Spa, JD Style" or...?

  • Very impressive to see your field cultivator at work. I know that there is a number of how much horsepower it takes to pull that much of a tool. I believe it’s like 10hp per foot. If that’s somewhat correct then your newer 8r370 probably would not be able to pull that tool. I’m probably wrong but great video.

  • I have three days a week that I am lucky if I sleep an hour a night. That is year round. I know only sleeping a few hours hurts but, it only a few weeks a year instead of every week. Hang in there, get that seed in the ground. Maybe Jack can be there early to install that AC compressor.
