    • There's a lot guys out there people never know about, I have a friend who is a plus 4 and that's a little conservative from what I see, seen him shoot 59 he's that good but he can't handle the pressure every time he goes to qualify he gets a nervous wreck and shoots horrible which to him is usually 75-77...

      @herealittlewhile7448@herealittlewhile74489 күн бұрын
  • I don't think you guys understand how handicaps actually work... It's your potential, not your average. A +5 is likely to shoot even to maybe -1 or -2 in your average round. He might shoot -5 or -6 once in 5 rounds you play with him. Still impressive. Stop expecting people to shoot their handicap in a random round.

    @TheToeOfEarl@TheToeOfEarl16 күн бұрын
    • I played as a plus handicap for years and you're absolutely correct. I always had to explain handicapping to people. Just add 3 strokes to your handicap and that gives you the average round. And slope also plays a factor when calculating handicapping, but I always tried to avoid going into details because it made things worse!...😂

    • A few years ago, I was a +2 and only had one score under par posted on my ghin, however the course rating from the tips was very high... so all my 73s and 74s were calculated as 3 and 2 under par rounds.

    • Absolutely hate handicap system. Shoot 9 79’s and have a round of 72 and you’re a 2. Cuz you had one great round. It also promotes the disgusting skill of sandbagging.

      @jdhrap@jdhrap8 күн бұрын
    • @@jdhrap Eh, they updated it so it's your best 8 rounds out of 20 I think. So, not as dramatic as it used to be in terms of shooting one good round and now you're a scratch. What other options you gonna have for sand baggers? They'll just straight up lie anyways.

  • For everyone questioning their handicap, i think it's where the game is today --- there's a "cheat code" in golf, and the cheat code is to basically be able to smack your driver about 280-300 yards and keep it on the planet. The rest of the stuff can be worse than average, but you're so close it doesn't kill you. At least that's the way i see it, from the few videos i've seen of the Divot Dudes. I enjoy your vids, new subscriber, and my hat's off to you for showing your whole games, unlike some youtubers that seem to be awesome video editors :) In any case, if i were you guys, i'd put the drivers down and just go spend time on the driving range with some irons --- say maybe hit about 100 balls every other day, and just hit wedges and 7 irons at each session. The putting will get better with time, assuming you're avid players, so i wouldn't personally spend huge amounts of time on the putting green (although it certainly wouldn't hurt to have at least a 30-minute session on the green for once every week or two just practicing 30 footers to aid speed control)
