  • wouldn't the company that graded these know if they were opened of fake? Isn't that part of their job? Why are you talking like there's a good chance they are fake?

    • the grading companies just grade off appearance nothing else is their responsibility.

    • scammers can also manipulate slabs after the fact in theory. At least in coins they can do that, they can counterfeit the anti-counterfeiting decives (slabs by PCGS and NGC). So you need to match to their photo records on PCGS and NGC website. Which requires some visual skills yourself. Also there have been cases with cards (like grading packs or boxes) where the entire contents was fake despite still passing the grading.

    • I remember from when I was a kid, of the three final evolution starter Pokemon, only the ones with Blastoise had rare Pokemon in them. The ones with Venusaur and Charizard on the covers always had rare trainer cards... I feel awful but because of that, I knew there wasn't going to be a Charizard or any other non trainer rare in that booster.

    • It seems that graded packs like this, especially first editions packs are always lightweight. They say its better to keep them closed than to open them.

    • The most expensive cards are in these old packs, specifically a 1st edition Charizard. Graded it can be worth Thousands and even up to 1 million if psa10. This was a 1st edition pack so he could have pulled it. U can get any pack currently and get a 40-100$ card but the highest of value is from this

    • A normal card from first edition doesn’t go under 40$ mint condition, a holo first edition goes from 1k-24k and some are worth more

  • Thing about Ex series is that the rare reverse is usually worth more than the rare holo so doesnt matter if its weighed. Also all stamped reverses in those sets sell for like 8 to 10 bucks minimum even if they're commons uncommon.

  • I pulled that charizard when I was probably 7-9 can't quite remember... now sure if it was first edition but I think it was out of one of the original packs. I am 30 now. My brother tore that card a couple years later before I was even a preteen, good memories.

    • i quit playing pokemon when i went to middle school.. dont really remember what i did with all my cards.. but I kept 1. Trades 8 holos way back then for a shadowless Charizard. It doesnt have the 1st edition stamp.. but as 12yo i didnt care about that anyways I just wanted Charizard xD. It sits in a hard case in my office now as the crown jewel now that my 8yo son is collecting pokemon cards of his own.

  • Honestly, seeing all of the original art is a serotonin release so I could have spent my own $10k personally and been not too mad. Just started collecting ring with my son last week after 20 years of not buying a pack or tin!

  • A funny story for me, i'm a yugioh fan/player (or at least was in the early 2000's) and my grandmother didn't know the difference between yugioh/pokemon and she bought me a base set 2 pack. I pulled a charizard, recently when all of this started popping up on my feed I found the charizard, sadly it was water damaged, bent, had white corners it was fucked up. A card shop guy still gave me almost 200$ for it lmao. Sucks it was so fucked up tho.
