What I don’t understand is that when we see the videos of these NBA players at practices, they never miss those threes. But suddenly, in the three point contest, they miss those shots.
Obviously pressure. They're not competing in a contest in practice. They're just...practicing.
Also, they're not used to picking up a ball and shooting it from a rack, in practice they're being thrown the ball like in a real game situation.

Pretty common sense why they missed their shots at the all star 3pt contest, 1. They have to be fast and picking up the ball from the rack. In the gym practice the ball is being thrown at them like in the real game. 2. Ever heard of pressure? They are in arena full of 100s people with flashy lights and many sounds. In the gym, they by themselves with no noise or distractions. 3. Some of the players have to sit and wait for their turn to come and that’s can either warm them up or cool them down.
