Kingdoms of Amalur's remaster left me underwhelmed. Its DLC? Well, quite the opposite.

  • I played the original Reckoning for maybe 60 hours over a couple characters. Never finished it, because it was kind of a slog after 20-30 hours. Now, I put some of that on me for doing EVERY side quest, which is totally not necessary. With the spring Steam sale, I finally picked up the remaster and the DLC. I'm underwhelmed by the remaster itself, but that doesn't take away from a few essential things done, like reworking the camera, and overhauling the loot drop system. I really wish they had done the proper bug fixes, like item transfers getting wonky and unable to remove or sell some items. I also switched to using a controller instead of Keyboard/Mouse, which, no idea why I didn't do that earlier. But I've noticed with the camera adjustments, the better loot, and using a controller, I'm not feeling that slog that I felt with the original playthrough. This is a MUST own for ARPG fans. Even though it's an older game, there's SOOOOO much content, and I find the story even engaging albeit nothing too original.

  • This game is such an underrated gem. I’m grateful for the new content but a part of me was really hoping for just one more tier of skills for the classes. This would have encouraged me to play the content with all classes and essentially triple the play time. Hope we see another installment of this franchise…

  • Kingdoms of Amalur is one of my favorite games. . .that I've never beaten lmao. I've started about a dozen playthroughs, because the combat and character customization is absolute sublime. But with the lackluster environments, and very mid side quests, I kept losing steam about halfway through the game, before picking it up later with a new build idea. But just seeing the world in this DLC in your video has me hopeful. I think I'm gonna pick it up, again lol.

But...that is where my enjoyment comes from. *That is the point*. Being a thief-mage-bowman-charkam-wielding-sage-Greatsword user. That is the amazingly fun thing about Amalur specifically. I'm most of the way through deadfire now finished 1 of the DLCs and only have a few places left I haven't explored. It definitely takes work to get into but it's well worth it. So far I think I actually like a few things about the first game better but the open explore-able world at the start of 2 is tough to beat.

  • I almost had a truly horrible experience with the new expansion. I grinded the game for about a week or two before the expansion release, got to 40, did everything for del Kel dlc, made god tier gear. Headed into the new fatesworn expansion. Up to this point and my previous years of play KoA, I’ve never had what I say next happen to me. Apparently it’s also a pre existing thing I knew nothing about. At point where there have been so many loot drops untouched, the game will no longer drop any more, and enemies will simply disappear upon killing them. I had made my last save point at the library right after I stole the key off a guard. Fast forward a little bit, after you steal you know what, you have to escape through the tunnels, but need to pick another key off a guard to get through. They wouldn’t drop anything and I got scared and kept trying to load back and try again. I finally ended up leaving and went to an inn, slept for 10 days and went back to try again, and it worked! I was so relieved. If my save point had been any later after stealing the book, my entire progressed would’ve ended and I would’ve installed for good lol.

  • Ppl keep saying they didn't change anything from original but they couldn't be more wrong, especially when considering the completely transformed new level scaling, before once you entered a region the level for that area was locked for entire playthrough, now whenever you leave a region and return the levels of the enemies and loot are rescaled, that alone is enough for me but the upscaled resolution and frame rate just adds another layer, I've seen remastered that did far less, remember it's a remaster not a remake

They drop a new game called The Past Of Reckoning where you play as your old self in the beginning of the war and the map is restored, specifically alabastra. But its just you leading up to your death and all the events that your told in game unfold before you. It would he nice but probably wont happen, but KOAR will always he a high held game in my heart
