  • As an Australian.....here's a wild idea.....BAN dark colored roofing for a start. All I see with new homes is black or dark grey. Homes no longer have long eaves or verandahs. Increase the minimum height for ceilings to allow cooler temps indoors. Build the houses to suit the climate. Its not rocket science.

  • They should try to plant trees near the well, then more water will be collected. Community members who obtain water can contribute by watering the tree seedlings. Ficus racemosa tree is observed to draw water from the atmosphere so that by the end of the day its base is observed to become moist.

  • I watched many documentaries on this topic, but the biggest evil seemed to be with the industrial age. The steam engine was the basis of the Industrial Revolution, which influenced the steel and textile industries. A number of factors contributed to why Britain became the nucleus of the Industrial Revolution. Here there were significant reserves of iron and coal, essential raw materials for industrialization. Also, Britain was politically stable and was the largest colonial empire, having the largest variety of subjects. It can be said that a greater volume and diversity led to an increase in the standard of living, but this for the middle class at most. The lower class continued to have many problems. Wages were low and working conditions were dangerous and often unsanitary. The cities that were constantly growing demographically also became unhealthy. With more and more people coming from rural to urban areas, the localities became overcrowded, with overburdened sewage systems and housing that was also overcrowded. This led to lack of hygiene, pollution and the spread of diseases. The British did everything possible to stop the expansion of these new technologies, a strategy that failed. In a short time, industrialization spread in Europe, mainly in France, Germany and Belgium and overseas, in the United States. The latter, became the largest industrial power at the beginning of the 20th century. I no longer count the wars that have destroyed millions of human lives and mutilated the earth as no animal has done.

  • Controlled burning in the wet season is how the Aborigines prevented bushfires by reducing the fuel load in the dry season. They had more sense than modern governments. As for Nigeria's drought, the trick is to capture as much floodwater on the surface as possible to soak into the ground and replenish the water table. Senegal is managing this very well I believe.

For the past several yrs my area which is U.S.A Southern Indiana, 5:48 Ohio Valley, I reside right at the intersection where states of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky come together. The winter stops and basically summer is the next morning,,,we went from needing heat that day,,,,next morning by late afternoon the air-conditioning or a good fan minimal. That's pretty much last 8-10 yrs. This year 2024 the winter gradually tapered off with many very very comfortable days. Windows open an now April even more so, it's been a much needed😊 break from the power an heating monthly bills of the past yrs of 1 extreme to the other with no in between. The break does have a bitter side though,,,the immediate region has had more than normal tornados 🌪. Several within 1 hr to 1 an half of my home. Those things are no joke.

She was actually excited the whole time which almost didn’t seem real lol. Crazy.. that dude probably kept the understory around his house somewhat free of dead wood.. there is just no other way that would be possible I feel… and then those dudes digging that well is nuts. I know it’s been done for thousands of years but it’s wild to see. Watching this makes me so sad. I remember growing up in the 90s and reading about it in science books, I feel like things have just gotten so bad so fast. Human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. The UN left out the ever needless and wanting's of endless perpetual wars that NATO and the big money are forever pursuing with little and no concern about the environmental damage. It's an interesting document with a touch of bias attached.
