@@Physicalplxne My own thoughts on the lore are the ancient Illagers had the tech to create the portal and brought the Wardens through. But they couldn't control them like they thought they could and had to abandon their underground cities and swore off portal technology.

As funny as that would be for them to out right say that, it would have some parents complaining, respectable decision, and seeing Steve just randomly dead on the floor is hilarious enough. another 10/10 production from the company that made the 10/10 game.

I immediately thought of Matpat’s theory that the Evokers created Steve when they pointed out that the wool colours were familiar.
The thing is I’m not sure Herobrine is really supposed to be canon. I think it’s more likely hinting at the illagers creating the zombies.

Personally I like phantoms I just wish more was done with them. Cats bring phantoms membranes from somewhere so if phantoms nests were a thing that would be awesome
Canonically, they nest at mountains. It's a reference to the idea of them spawning at high altitudes.

doesn't the blue wool also appear in the deep dark? is there an implication that they were the ones who lived down there? it's plausible that the warden is some magical being since invokers exist. it's very possible that at some point illagers lived below the ground and villagers lived above ground until the caves got too dangerous. (this is just lore wise, i know the illagers would have came before the deep dark was implemented. but still an interesting idea.)
I like your thinking but it is flawed. Look at the Ancient City and what blocks it is built of. The upper levels have grey carpets so that the Wardens wouldn't hear those builders (probably the Ancient Builders). You also have some dark oak log and blue wool around the city but they appear to be used scarcely and only for fortifications or repairs. This implies that the Ancient Cities were built before and then at some point in time the Illagers came and probably used it for something, what for is up to speculation

The illagers discovered the ancient cities after the builders died off, that’s why you see the same color wool, towers that look like outposts, and the fact that illagers are toying with soul magic and skulk is made of souls

Illagers are so overpowered that I find it funny. Whenever I come across them in a raid I’m terrified since I played on hard mode which means that two hits with full armor is death. It’s ridiculous but funny.

Is it bad I got massive 'Minecraft storymode' vibes when I watched this? It reminded me of the white pumpkin level, especially when the Nararater was listing the evidence; which reminded me of the scene when Jessie shows the evidence but keeps saying the wrong things. The ending as well, the massive Mobbo is like in season 2. Help, I'm going down memory lane-

So... The "portal statue" might summon a mob very powerful. Thats why netherithe was added. And when you defeat them the portal gets you to dimension of big dungeons with some bosses and treasure that might be stronger than netherithe, but would have upsides and downsides to make them ballanced if you use them against each other.
