Remember Quebec City vs Vegas? Bill Foley/VGK and his 100% private funding of his future team and a private deal with MGM for an arena, T-Mobile. ZERO public money!!! Quebec City had lots of moving parts and public money required. Extremely easy to pick Vegas. Bill Foley had all his ducks in a row. Vegas had everything going for it! Those with a bit of an analytical mind saw Vegas was ripe for pro sports teams, since sports gambling has been being approved in Canada and US. VGK value from 2017 to 2024 has doubled. Great investment by Bill Foley and great decision by Gary/NHL.

Arizona is a massive market with LOTS of Canadians who winter down there. Problem was very few reside in Glendale. I think Arizona Hockey will work IF they get the right owner (hint this guy ain't it) and a proper arena in a proper location. My guess, you won't hear from Alex again, he'll take his 700m profit and run far away - you can bet he either won't bid or won't get the land he's supposdedly after on June 27th

Good riddance to the Arizona Coyotes. This team never got good fan support from the city of Phoenix. In reality, its fans are the blame for this hockey team leaving Arizona. Getting a new arena isn't going to be enough to save this team. There isn't enough fan support over the long term to keep a team in the city of Phoenix.
