Tomsterr if you look close Eubank would step in really smoothly but the big guy didn't have to keep him at bay

All in all it was nice sparring session. I loved it.
For those who are saying that the big guy is not putting anything behind his punches: in sparring, you must show your partner not how powerful you hit but where the gaps are in your defense and point that with quick/slow punch based on his experience. I'm not sure what his goal is for this sparring session (maybe improve his defense when fighting a quicker boxer) but sparring is about control and for me he is better at it then Eubank Jr. I appreciate Eubank Sr. as a fighter and as a coach. Look at 9:55 where Jr unloads some heavy punches and then listen what Eubank Sr. says at 10:03 and how Jr. obeys. The outcome is simple: more punches landed, more points and possibly more openings. Jr. doesn’t move his head a lot (nor GGG) and he is easy to hit with the jab. If he doesn’t improve this, then he must have a good chin or else the result with GGG(if that fight will ever be made) will be another KO for GGG.

This is the biggest (boxing) cultural differences, IMO between the US and the UK...sparring. I remember late 80's going to that Peacock gym and was really surprised at how sparring was viewed as more strategic game planning, where here in the US it's more about mimicking the actual fight. Eubank Sr learned to box in the states. I remember Nigel Benn coming to 5th street and was unable to keep up because he was having to go rounds with a fresh guy every other round. But as he kept saying "this is why I'm here".

@mark daniels because its the truth. 30 professional and 100 amateur fights wont give anyone braindamage. but if you do hard sparring daily for 15 years, than you will definitly have brain damage.

I know many guys who haven't really experienced boxing are gonna say, "the big guy wasn't trying to really hit Chris, wasn't any power in the shots." The big guy isn't there to prove he could beat Chris. he was there to simulate a bigger body that's harder to move and to give Chris the feel for a heavier man's punches. notice towards the end of their 8 rounds he started to put more power in his shots and gave more head movement. Chris is looking pretty good. I want to see him more active now.
Only watching this now cause I'm bored/interested in Eubank Jr vs Benn. It's been quite some time; what do you make of Eubanks skills now? Curious to see how this plays out considering he's saying retirement if he loses.
Chris it's a trade off mate !!.....toooo fast and it lacks power ...too slow and it's easy to evade ...it's the combination of speed , power and timing that makes the perfect punch ....you know that !!

eubank has no idea how to use the jab effectively, hes not even practicing it here to try and dictate the pace and off set rhythm, its all slipping with no counters or trying to push forward/ get inside. This guy has a lot of polishing to do
Exactly, and all this talk about how much he's improved since Saunders... i don't see it. he still has no jab, he's still bad on the outside, he's chucking himself off balance, his defense is still very sloppy. He looked devastating against blackwell coz blackwell fought in the pocket, Eubank can only fight in close quarters, a good boxer takes him to school 9/10 times imo
spot on. his conditioning and stamina have improved since saunders, but that's it. He needs a top level trainer, I'm not sure what happened with Booth
Eubank has no idea how to use the jab effectively. But still got Quinlans face lots of jabs. And on other opponents he has effectivly jab them. Because u saw a sparring session that Eubank experiments doesnt mean you know everything in his style
eubank in his previous fights never displayed a good jab which he worked off and rolled off to land other shots, its not just the sparring session.
In Mayweather's camp they've never told him to ease up on those hard punches 😂😂
I like the Eubanks belief ect but he can not contend with groves by the look of him here, the big guy is good but SLOW at Chris Juniors weight, Grove is so much quicker and has power... I sense the end is near :-( Head movement???

Eubank Jr. worries too much about hitting his partners than doing the actual work. Needs to be better about catching and shooting, creating angles with his feet, and using hand speed rather than power.
This is how brain damage occurs. 10 rounds of hard sparring with headgear. Because they're using larger padded gloves which allows for more punishment and in the end, it's the punches that don't hurt that will hurt you long term.

he's good in the pocket but he doesn't have a jab it seems. he seems to throw his jab more often when he's tired. once he implements the jab he'll be fine. every other punch he throws looks great though.

When i fought we used to spar at 80% so we could try stuff and not get hit too hard gave us a chance to make mistakes in the ring sparring and not in the real fights
young chris has some good boxing...but not enough head movement, and most of time he may as well be boxing a head on a stick as he is not interested in body ...only sometimes...he should always be working both head and body ...especially on such a tall opponent...but the main thing he is missin is head movement...ok his guard is pretty tight ..but you always know where is head is gonna be ..because he dont move it ...only occasionally.

Eubanks problem is he can't throw a straight punch. You can be a worldbeater with those inside hooks, but it you cant throw a jab or straight right, how are you going to get in range?

Sebastian's a southpaw eh? He actually looks a better prospect than Chris Jr. I think. Never been overly impressed by Jr, he's OK but not great, don't understand people who believe all the hype from him and his Dad. They said they wanted Golovkin for years, then when he was offered the fight he backed out and ran to 168. He's still not achieved anything at world level (Oct '17). IBO is not a world title belt, despite what they claim. They are so full of shit - posting sparring footage beating up on amateurs say's everything about them. That's totally against the boxer's code. Sparring is supposed to stay behind closed doors unless both fighter's give consent.

Swazi Prince Eubank is shit. Anyone who thinks he's world class knows absolutely shit about boxing. You're a social media fan who doesn't understand what you're looking at. Sparring means nothing, it's just practice you fool. It shouldn't even be talked about, it's just preparation. Plenty of all time great fighters didn't perform well in sparring. Fight night is the only thing that matters. Eubank bleats about his sparring so much - it's the equivalent of a football team saying they can win the Champions League because their five a side games in training are good. Groves will batter Eubank in 2 weeks, Eubank is all hype, and you've just bought the hype. He's achieved barely anything of note in his career, no big wins, no world titles.
