  • Maybe we are just not that interesting to them. When we walk by a colony of ants, we don't stop and try to make contact with them to share our knowledge and technology. If other life forms outside Earth have the possibility to make contact with us, they have to be more advanced than us and just maybe they are not interested in figuring out a way to spend resources on communicating with an inferior species.

  • The youtube videos from Easy German has been very helpful to me in learning German. Thank you for your videos with subtitles in both English and German. In that way, we can relate the German language with English and at the same time increase our vocabulary of German words. And the topics of these videos are so interesting that I don't have to put any conscious effort to learn. I just get curious naturally. Thanks.

"How is German fashion different from other European countries," "How is German fashion different from American fashion?" "Can you spot a tourist by their style? If so, how?"

So "They" said, that ""They" will not do anything to us, as we are such a civilization, which will destroy ourselves from anger, jealousy and negativity... "

@vladtkachov5668@vladtkachov56685 жыл бұрын
  • I would have to say there are definite _philosophical_ components to this question, but they must be answered after the _biochemical_ components. You see, the fundamental elements of life as we know it (carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen), happen to be the most abundant in the Universe. There are currently unexplained aspects of the process that brought them together in such a way as to form life on _this_ planet, but given their sheer abundance, and given the sheer vastness and age of the Universe, the odds are pretty good that they have come together in such a way as to form life _elsewhere._ Civilizations, though, I would not be so sure about. The elements of _intelligent_ life I'm not so clear on. And intelligent life _here_ has only been changing the light emitting from Earth for a few millennia. This might seem like a vast period of time, but remember just how far away is even the closest star outside of our solar system. Also remember the ethic behind the noninterference directive in _Star Trek,_ most commonly known as the Prime Directive. Post-warp civilizations make it a point to avoid being detected by pre-warp civilizations in order to avoid the hazards of cultural contamination. Until a civilization has advanced enough to harness the matter-antimatter reaction and turn it into a means of _propulsion_ instead of a _weapon,_ that civilization has not matured enough, ideologically, to be ready for first contact.

  • Eight planets revolving around sun and similar to our sun, millions of stars in our milky way galaxy. Our galaxy is one among the millions of galaxy forming a cluster. And then we have millions of these clusters. This makes me highly uncertain that we are alone in this universe. Another idea that simulate my thought is that our universe is continuously expanding with time. So, this means that our universe must have been concentrated in a very dense single mass and then big bang happened created our universe. But what if before big bang, there were multiple single mass like our universe forming a multi-verse? Mind = Blown

  • The universe is expanding at a rate of 70km/s/Megaparsec of distance between galaxies. This makes it practically impossible to create a device to travel and meet other civilizations. However, statistically, the certainty of having other civilizations is much higher than not having any. Is like thinking of a certain race or religion thinking they are the chosed ones when there are other ones. Gute Frage. Funny that the man at 1:42 says exactly this and in the background there are ads calling for Planet Future LOL

  • Folks, my German is still not enough to understand all the words without the subs but I´m sure what the handsome white-haired guy said in the part written in German as "Ich mir jedenfalls nicht" is something different, I don´t know what he actually said but it sounds like something close to (trying to transliterate the sounds heard) "(ich) /minienvan/ nicht", is it an expression from some wonderful Platt variety? Thanks for the interesting video!

    @joalexsg9741@joalexsg97415 жыл бұрын
    • 2:35 He said "Ich in jedem Fall nicht.". Nothing Plattdeutsch(Low German) here.

      @JoeysCavern@JoeysCavern5 жыл бұрын
    • Jo Alex Sg No, this expression is common in all of Germany. Btw. the white-haired guy isn't a native speaker (he has a French accent) so his pronunciation isn't always 100 % correct. For me it sounds like he wanted to say "in jedem Fall" - which is also correct and has the same meaning as "jedenfalls". It literally translates to " in any case". But that would sound a bit weird in English.

      @unzerstorbar39@unzerstorbar395 жыл бұрын
    • Well, I wish I could record the part separately (I don´t have the resources to do so) and reproduce it here so others could attest for themselves that what i recorded in the video as phonemes (sounds building words) cannot ever be described as "in jedem Fall", I´m sorry, Alpacacino, no way ever!

      @joalexsg9741@joalexsg97415 жыл бұрын
    • Don't worry the intervewee was mumbling as he seemed not sure in his statement. Who would being asked a question you could only theorize about as nobody knows the answer/truth for real yet. I had to listen said piece multiple times to get the literal sentence right.

      @JoeysCavern@JoeysCavern5 жыл бұрын
    • I am still not sure if he said "Ich mir jedenfalls nicht" or "Ich in jedem Fall nicht" (which is both super close from its sound and its meaning). The guy was from Denmark but spoke really nice German. He also did some small mistakes here and there though, so its possible that he wasn't even sure himself which version he wanted to chose. To me it sounds like "Ich mir jedenfall nicht" which we have corrected to "Ich mir jedenfalls nicht" :)

  • Awesome topic! I think that sheer numbers insist we are not alone. Isolated and remote, surely, but not alone. And I find the notion of bellicose ETs risible. A civilization advances, after billions of years of evolution, to master interstellar travel, and what do they do? Risk life and property as well as contamination on a billion levels just to stamp out another civilization light-years away? I don’t think intelligent beings would be so careless. Besides, even mercenary ones could simply swoop in and scoop up raw materials to their heart’s content from our Oort Cloud, without bothering one wit about us. I think that it might even be possible there ARE other beings out there, and they ARE aware of us. In this case, though, I imagine their name for us would roughly translate to “TRAFFIC WARNING! GO AROUND! PRIMATES NOT READY YET!” -Phill, Las Vegas

Jetzt einfach warten ! Aber sei bereit 😆

  • If ET life exists, and it finds us before we find it, then it is implicitly more advanced than us. The data shows that as we become more advanced, we become more peaceful - the better angels of our nature. I predict that a more advanced society results in a more peaceful society. - Consider how we would proceed if we were to find ET life. At the same time, consider how we treat strange (foreign) limited to Earth. Consider how we treat new.

  • Hi guys, very interesting as usual but you're assuming that we live on a planet. It does appear that we don't so you should be asking "Is the Earth flat or a globe". Research Flat Earth, especially check out Mark Sargent and Patricia Steere on you tube; the truth will soon be mainstream.

    • Tob ias Don't need university education to realise water is always flat; a vacuum can't exist next to an atmosphere without a barrier; the constellations never change. Just plain common sense!

    • If you had common sense you would have detected the sarcasm, which would have made you realise that I don't take you seriously. Therefore your common sense is broken. Please go where the pepper grows and tell Santa your stories.
