I love proper old V8 Mustangs, always have! Buying one feels insane. What do you think of this 1968 Mustang Fastback GT? The 302 engine sounds unreal, big revs, accelerations, tunnel runs and launches. Should I change the exhaust? The bonus to this purchase is the car that came free with it! Enjoy, Legends.
"the backseats will have a lot of stories"😂
'68 Mustang is nice daily 👌 There is nothing like a British and French guys driving an American muscle car yelling, "Yee Hah!" and then driving thru a Canadian fast food joint ordering shakes.
I adore this comment
A 302 is actually the iconic 5.0L, while the 289cui V8 is the 4.7L. Either way - I do feel envy of your Mustang. And, I'll never ever try to debate bicycle stats with you... because, well, riding bikes is just more fun that paying that close of attention. Enjoy the ride!
The fucking accents in the drive thru 😂😂
Murica 😎😎
Saying "cheerrrrs" as if that's something people on this side of the pond say.
@@jonlavigne3270 No shortage of Americans who think they're sophisticated because they've adopted a few British phrases.
Were those supposed to be American accents? 😂
Matt gets American muscle! It’s a thing back in the day at least. Nothing new even comes close in America
Geez Ben, that was a respectable Yee-Haw for a frenchman. You were really feeling it.
Wow. Fast backs are hard to find even in America. Pricey too! Congrats. I still have my 1969 Firebird 400 from high school. There’s just something special about classic muscle from the 60s. Shortcomings and all they just have soul that new vehicles don’t have.
Lol As a Canadian I am loving that the most American thing they could do was find a Tim Hortons!
…and they didn’t order an icecap 🫡🇨🇦
To be fair, Canada is North American
They don’t only have Tim Hortons in Canada?!?
@@victoriouskids2793 well i'm from the uk and had no idea what that chain was, never heard of them/it/him now i've seen the name, not even in (north) american films & tv. if they've got them outside MK then i'm guessing theyre in london & the other big cities then. not mine though (one of the smaller ones).
The ape is pronounced apay (like away but with the accent on the first a) and means bee. Piaggio is based in the town where I work and has some fantastic mtb around the area. They have just had the vespa (which means wasp) 10 year anniversary and it was cool to see them from everywhere. British School Pontedera, come and visit us, the locals will show you the time of your life, bring your bikes because we have some lovely trails…
Beautiful car man! Just a heads up, if they told you it’s a 4.7L, that’s because the 289ci V8 came in the 1968 Mustang not the 302! Many have been swapped to a 302 over the years though!
The 302 is 5.0 liters. Glad you got one
Meanwhile Tim Hortons is canadian 😂 nonetheless that car is a thing of beauty mate !
That "throaty" American Muscle sound when you first started the Mustang .... yeah, that's IT! ❤... I owned a 1971 Chevy Camaro that sounded just like that. This is by far my favorite car you've had. Congrats! ... Ben's "YEEHAAAA" was epic! 🤣
Matt... all love to you and Ben mate. Let's not forget the Jamie. Cracking team you've built. I think you bringing these dudes in and expanding the possibilities has just blew the channel up and I for 1 just love watching because of that. You helped me through covid where I lost family and ill always be grateful. Its a pleasure to watch you thrive while being humble and thankful to the industry that's help make what you do possible. Wishing you the best.
I didnt know you were in to classics! if you are ever on the east coast in America it would be awesome to give you a tour of the shop i work at, and take you for a drive in some very fast, and modernized classics we have built! We call them "restomods" over here. We rebuild the rusty bodies from the ground up, stick high performance chassis under them, big horspower v8s, and beautiful high quality interiors!! We have a dyno cell on sight and everything. You're legitimately welcome anytime! My bosses and myself are all into mtbs as well! Love your content
theres a black one near me with the white stripes and it looks and sounds so good
I looked on ebay and saw this for sale for 57K and its was definitely the best 1968 fastback mustang for sale at the time its my favourite, just wish I had the money but hard work will pay off soon.
As an American it’s awesome to see someone from the UK get so excited about a classic American muscle car!!
Sickest car yet!! “They knew how to build stuff back then” truest truth ever trued
The amount of accents Ben went through in the drive-thru is hilarious 😂
Perfect two car garage? Nailed it! BTW the Italian pronunciation of Ape is "Ahhpay" meaning Bee, just like Vespa means Wasp! :)
Great taste, that car is timeless. Love the color and matching interior. Don't see a ton of em even in the states, bet you will turn a lot of heads over in the UK.
I owned that car for 6 1/2 years! It actually came in to the UK in Feb 2016 from Marrieta, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. I loved that car, but I could not get my wife, daughter and dog in to it, so it had to go. When I first got it, it had an exhaust on it, that was so quiet that your granny could’ve driven it. However, I got a stainless steel exhaust put on it, and eventually had the engine rebuilt, and great cost, to make that lovely sound it has today. When I win the lottery, I will make you an offer to buy it back, but until that time, look after it and I hope you really enjoy it
I also put in the 3 point belts in place of the lap belts. The bonnet indicator lights were on the “premium” bonnet.
Do not change the exhaust Keep it as original as possible. Dont be "that guy" -- as an owner of the same car (black) SICK!
It's a sweet unit! Fun to have a V8 on a stick too! Well done!
I was looking round the showroom and Tuk Tucked away in a corner was this sick Piageo Ape!
Hi matt love the mastang sick as. Also love your little truck it sounds like leave blower. Have fun
Nice Ape, own one too and put my bike on it. Works really good. Have a nice drive with it
It's so weird watching you drive around MK and Bletchley. Also, what a great purchase!
but he's always filmed around those parts? often in his supercars/van too
@@ManWalksDogs and I find it weird everytime? 😂
Horses are SO CUTE!
i loved how interested they all were in all the shenanigans going on out front of their stables!
Love the Stang!
Love the horses. Your missus ride? I got 4 myself. Love em!
Like the V8 Mustang but absolutly love the APE❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. What a combo you get There 😊
Okay, you have beaten Sam Pilgrim with that purchase dude! I love the sound of his truck, have seen it a few times at Twisted Oaks and on the A12, but that Mustang is the epitome of style and power. Always loved the 67 Shelby GT 500 but as you say they go for hundreds of thousands and you would just want to put in a garage and polish it with a diaper. 🤣❤️
Beautiful car mate! 🎉
thats a amazing car congrats man
Actually my absolutely favorite car the 68' since i was a wee little kid ! Matt brother, i am absolutely mega jeakoux ! Gratz on the car mate !!!
you seem mor excited about the 3 wheeled scoot scoot i love it
Nice motors Matt 🎉
The brakes were rubbish drums, pulling to the right, but I got those replaced with power discs, which made a great difference.
Sounds incredible!
I love it Matt. I’m a mustang owner myself welcome to the family bud. 🤙
British people liking mustangs always makes me happy. Shout out to Richard Hammond
Matt, the 'Stang probably had a single owner most of its lfetime in Georgia. That upholstery is way too clean to have changed hands many times.
That upholstery was definitely re-done at some point... It's a 60 year old vehicle.
Saadly, that is NOT an accurate gauge of age/ownership as used seats will be wrinkled! an immaculate leather interior means it was probably reupholstered by an expert upholsterer in the last few years.
American muscle! Hell yeah! Merica! You got good taste. Sweet ride.
That mustang is stunning ❤
Good to see mat getting into cars 302 cubes is a 5L btw
I'm american and can agree with you, that car is sweet!!! Great buy
"Yee haw!!" hahahaha Ben, you are ready for Oklahoma
Love the car, the mustang and the little trike car, would be so funny if you hit jumps on the free one
That fastback roofline looks prime for a seasucker bike rack!
gotta love matt falling for the vinyl as leather
Nice mate love them both r1 engine in the 3 wheel it will fly lol
As a American mechanic that's def a full restoration stock yes but all new impressive build tho
Please more cars!!! 🙏🏻
That little piaggio is a perfect farm mobile! Id put some dirt tyres on it and rag it on the field 😂😂
Please use the piagio ape to build jumps matt
The tone of that exhaust is bonkers. Mechanical music.
that second vehicle gave an instant flashback to NWD 10 / Gee-s part :D must be fun anyways
Hello Matt always love watching your videos. I love the fact that you bought a '68. My bone to 68 since I was 16 and I'm now 60. There is much I would like to discuss with you about this car. I would like you to know one thing stop slamming the doors they close very easily. Also the consecutive unit number does not start at number one. The consecutive unit number starts at 100,000. So when you see your VIN number look for the numerical number for example if it says 100,005 that means it is the 5th mustang of that type made. You can go or I can find you the original shop manual for the car. Now I know you have the means to have someone work on it but it's very nice to have your own shop manual. The shop manual blows up the vehicle so you can see every net washer everything before your eyes it's not one of those aftermarket idiot manuals. I have the same interior but it doesn't have the headrest. The interior of mine is aqua blue That's another nice thing about having the shop manual is the first page or two describes how to read the door sill plate which tells you every option that came on the vehicle. Something else that's very important is to take the time to look at the stampings on for example the front quarter panel on the top you'll see a C and then the rest of the number. The c represents 1960. If you see a different letter then the c on any body part then you know that it may have been in an accident, or for any reason not completely stock. In the United States body technicians and companies that do repair work are not allowed to change the letter codes that's a big no-no. So if for example you had the car in America and you got into an accident and they put it back to new for you The body codes could not have a c. It would have to have a letter that corresponds to the present year. So starting in 1940 Ford used the first letter which would be A, 50 is B, 60 is C. And so on by decade. Mine is not a 302, nor is it stick it's not a GT. But it's not stock and I love mine. Here's something you may not know. And I do not know what your intentions for the car are. Meaning, is the car completely stock the way it came off the factory right now? Do you want to keep it completely stock? Here's something you might find interesting. In 1967, Ford lengthened the engine bay and widened it by about 1 in. The purpose was so that the people who wanted to buy the car could have a choice in the engine without having to modify the engine bay to get it in there. Engine options in 1967 and thus 1968 were the six cylinder all the way up to a 428. So that means let's pretend you took the 302 out, because since it is in the car someone ordered it with a 302 but they could have ordered it with a 428. That's the whole point cars and engines and options were variable and that's what makes each car unique. Mine came out originally with a 289. Now there was a 289 hi po, but that was an engine option upgrade and whoever purchased my car originally didn't want to do that or didn't have the money to do it or whatever. What I'm going to do with mine is have a 428 built and then put it in mine. Of course I'll probably be in my '70s but I don't want to race I just want to cruise. Something you should consider is to go back to where you purchased it and ask them to find out the camshaft options for that engine and then put a bumpy lift cam in that. Talk about sounding beautiful and performance would be over the top. Wish I was there to talk to you about all of it. Have fun be safe it does not have the performance safety features your other machines do so be careful. It tends to hydroplane on water. You might consider getting a straight bar that goes between your shock towers those came out original also. They prevent the car from having a rolling type of feeling and keep the car body chassis flat for better handle. They're also companies that make aftermarket rear stabilizer parts for that purpose do some research. Find out what your front anti-sway bar diameter is if it's 1 in that's good. If it's 9/16 upgraded to the 1-in. Then when you go around a corner that should be 20 mph and you going 50 miles an hour the car front end stays flat it doesn't roll over like a boat. Do a little research look for videos on KZhead there are many. And have a good time and be safe. Remember you're very important to your family end of the world you're a great man a good person and I personally enjoy hanging out with you on TV and I want you to be around for a long time. You're young but you're also intelligent so please take care of yourself we like you here. Peace
If there is a way that a person could contact you like through a PO box please advise. I know you value your privacy but is there some form of business PO box where letters and ideas and things like that could be sent?
I like to joke about and say that I was born in 1964 and my car was born in 1968. Going back to the door sill plate this is very important and fun. When you have a shop manual that manual has a single page with the codes on it. So you read your VIN number or the sill plate number and find the data on that page and it will tell you everything about the car. Like axle ratio, engine, transmission, where the vehicle was manufactured, what year, what plant. For example there is a term called DSO. This means dealer special order or option. Mine was made in San Jose California it was shipped DSO to Washington State. There were two previous owners and then I purchased it in Oregon in 1980. So it's just some trivia that's fun to research about your vehicle. There are some aftermarket companies that have made reading the shop manual easier I would recommend Drake's. Contact them online and get their OEM (original equipment manufacturer) electrical blow up illustration. It is a must because the older you get the harder it is to see those small electrical wires and numbers and so forth. Drake's went to four got their permission to blow up the electrical section of the original OEM manual. So it's the same data used with permission but larger and easier to see. Hope to talk to you later you have a good one
FORE should be FORD.
Nice purchase. Don't let that English weather rust the undercarriage. And it's a trunk, not a boot.
Beautiful car. Just a bit of history. For that year. The color of the seats isn’t a common option. Not saying it’s rare. Most of the seats in a 68 are black then tan. Red is the most uncommon. But blue is a close 2nd
actually, in America they still use cubic inches for engines. pretty insane, but then liters doesn't tell them much because they use gallons over there i guess. i believe the "disc brake" on the pedal was because so that people wouldn't stamp on it because in those days people were used to drum brakes. i think there was even like propaganda that was like disc brakes are dangerous because you could lock up and slide. Imagine that trying to argue the brakes are dangerous because they actually work lol.
WING WINDOWS, you finally made it!!!!
I know no one will see this but s video back at the playground or another progression vid at the compound or adrenaline alley
I can't believe how sharp and tight everything feels.. closed the door and sounded like it was going to fall off 😂😂
Sod the Ariel, please bring tuc tuc to The Malverns 😂👍👍👍
Very nice. I haven't got a mustang but I do have a 1994 piaggio Ape. It's pronounced apay for future reference which is a bee 🐝 in Italian. Great vid as always brother
Best bad American accent ever Ben 🤣 Finally a fair exchange for Dick Van Dykes English accent in Mary Poppins 🤣
"look how good the brakes are" *hits the windscreen 😂😂
Need a crew ride soon! Oh and again Congrats to Ben of all trades
My dude finna start the Boston Tea Party 2.0 with that Mustang 😂 Cheers to the Royal Family from ‘Merica!
Matt should collab with Richard Hammond and Mike Fernie on Drivetrive. I feel like a cog score is in order and I guarantee Matt and Richard would have good chemistry.
This video made me laugh and giggle like a little boy 💀
Welcome to the Mustang community!
Love that they said Merica… with Canadian drinks lol
you need to put this on some merch
That was my dream car for years! I then drove a left hand drive and decided that i never wanted to do that again. Sooo thats the only reason i dont have one 😅😂
That fastback is a sick car tho.
Ben should of run a "I love that" counter
Smells like freedom 🇺🇸🤘🏼🇺🇸
Yes Mathew.... You will be faster in that tuk tuk than your pit bike 😅
That 3-wheeled car sounds like a leaf blower 😂 Looks like that one car from Mr. Bean
Would you get a mk2 escort there’s a company in wales building them under different name rally spec to
Attaboy Matt!
If that car doesn’t make you want to rebel against the monarchy I don’t know what will!… lol. You’re welcome! From Detroit 🍻
Tuc tuc for the win 🥳
Siiiick
Welcome to the mustang family 😅
Noooo......you meant Route 66 in Oklahoma then you could stop by my house!! Also, in the US the 302 is called 5.0 as in 5 liter. IDK what it actually is but we call it the "Five O"
Thats nice.
The Tarantula Hawk is a very large wasp. I've heard their sting described as "Please cut my arm off." levels of pain. We have them here In California. I've seen them in action stalking tarantulas and dragging them off to hide. They don't eat the tarantulas but lay their eggs inside the abdomen so that their young have some handy sustenance who they hatch.
At the drive through you outed yourself as not American because you asked for a medium. That and it was a Tim Horton's. Nice car though! I had one of those in high school. A ton of fun to drive
I've seen one them ape 125 things with an r1 engine in the video is on KZhead somewhere he's from Warrington 😂
just one thing Matt, it's not "eip" it's "ape" which means bee 🤣🤣🤣
That Ape has Ollie Wilkins written all over it!
Must admit that’s one beautiful car, or should I say 2 😂 love the second almost more then the mustang.
It's a collectable and proceeds to rag hell out of it lol
You should run your cars up the hill at goodwood
Amazing
