I love proper old V8 Mustangs, always have! Buying one feels insane. What do you think of this 1968 Mustang Fastback GT? The 302 engine sounds unreal, big revs, accelerations, tunnel runs and launches. Should I change the exhaust? The bonus to this purchase is the car that came free with it! Enjoy, Legends.

  • A 302 is actually the iconic 5.0L, while the 289cui V8 is the 4.7L. Either way - I do feel envy of your Mustang. And, I'll never ever try to debate bicycle stats with you... because, well, riding bikes is just more fun that paying that close of attention. Enjoy the ride!

  • I owned that car for 6 1/2 years! It actually came in to the UK in Feb 2016 from Marrieta, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. I loved that car, but I could not get my wife, daughter and dog in to it, so it had to go. When I first got it, it had an exhaust on it, that was so quiet that your granny could’ve driven it. However, I got a stainless steel exhaust put on it, and eventually had the engine rebuilt, and great cost, to make that lovely sound it has today. When I win the lottery, I will make you an offer to buy it back, but until that time, look after it and I hope you really enjoy it

  • Hello Matt always love watching your videos. I love the fact that you bought a '68. My bone to 68 since I was 16 and I'm now 60. There is much I would like to discuss with you about this car. I would like you to know one thing stop slamming the doors they close very easily. Also the consecutive unit number does not start at number one. The consecutive unit number starts at 100,000. So when you see your VIN number look for the numerical number for example if it says 100,005 that means it is the 5th mustang of that type made. You can go or I can find you the original shop manual for the car. Now I know you have the means to have someone work on it but it's very nice to have your own shop manual. The shop manual blows up the vehicle so you can see every net washer everything before your eyes it's not one of those aftermarket idiot manuals. I have the same interior but it doesn't have the headrest. The interior of mine is aqua blue That's another nice thing about having the shop manual is the first page or two describes how to read the door sill plate which tells you every option that came on the vehicle. Something else that's very important is to take the time to look at the stampings on for example the front quarter panel on the top you'll see a C and then the rest of the number. The c represents 1960. If you see a different letter then the c on any body part then you know that it may have been in an accident, or for any reason not completely stock. In the United States body technicians and companies that do repair work are not allowed to change the letter codes that's a big no-no. So if for example you had the car in America and you got into an accident and they put it back to new for you The body codes could not have a c. It would have to have a letter that corresponds to the present year. So starting in 1940 Ford used the first letter which would be A, 50 is B, 60 is C. And so on by decade. Mine is not a 302, nor is it stick it's not a GT. But it's not stock and I love mine. Here's something you may not know. And I do not know what your intentions for the car are. Meaning, is the car completely stock the way it came off the factory right now? Do you want to keep it completely stock? Here's something you might find interesting. In 1967, Ford lengthened the engine bay and widened it by about 1 in. The purpose was so that the people who wanted to buy the car could have a choice in the engine without having to modify the engine bay to get it in there. Engine options in 1967 and thus 1968 were the six cylinder all the way up to a 428. So that means let's pretend you took the 302 out, because since it is in the car someone ordered it with a 302 but they could have ordered it with a 428. That's the whole point cars and engines and options were variable and that's what makes each car unique. Mine came out originally with a 289. Now there was a 289 hi po, but that was an engine option upgrade and whoever purchased my car originally didn't want to do that or didn't have the money to do it or whatever. What I'm going to do with mine is have a 428 built and then put it in mine. Of course I'll probably be in my '70s but I don't want to race I just want to cruise. Something you should consider is to go back to where you purchased it and ask them to find out the camshaft options for that engine and then put a bumpy lift cam in that. Talk about sounding beautiful and performance would be over the top. Wish I was there to talk to you about all of it. Have fun be safe it does not have the performance safety features your other machines do so be careful. It tends to hydroplane on water. You might consider getting a straight bar that goes between your shock towers those came out original also. They prevent the car from having a rolling type of feeling and keep the car body chassis flat for better handle. They're also companies that make aftermarket rear stabilizer parts for that purpose do some research. Find out what your front anti-sway bar diameter is if it's 1 in that's good. If it's 9/16 upgraded to the 1-in. Then when you go around a corner that should be 20 mph and you going 50 miles an hour the car front end stays flat it doesn't roll over like a boat. Do a little research look for videos on KZhead there are many. And have a good time and be safe. Remember you're very important to your family end of the world you're a great man a good person and I personally enjoy hanging out with you on TV and I want you to be around for a long time. You're young but you're also intelligent so please take care of yourself we like you here. Peace

      @ep5796@ep579625 күн бұрын
    • I like to joke about and say that I was born in 1964 and my car was born in 1968. Going back to the door sill plate this is very important and fun. When you have a shop manual that manual has a single page with the codes on it. So you read your VIN number or the sill plate number and find the data on that page and it will tell you everything about the car. Like axle ratio, engine, transmission, where the vehicle was manufactured, what year, what plant. For example there is a term called DSO. This means dealer special order or option. Mine was made in San Jose California it was shipped DSO to Washington State. There were two previous owners and then I purchased it in Oregon in 1980. So it's just some trivia that's fun to research about your vehicle. There are some aftermarket companies that have made reading the shop manual easier I would recommend Drake's. Contact them online and get their OEM (original equipment manufacturer) electrical blow up illustration. It is a must because the older you get the harder it is to see those small electrical wires and numbers and so forth. Drake's went to four got their permission to blow up the electrical section of the original OEM manual. So it's the same data used with permission but larger and easier to see. Hope to talk to you later you have a good one

  • actually, in America they still use cubic inches for engines. pretty insane, but then liters doesn't tell them much because they use gallons over there i guess. i believe the "disc brake" on the pedal was because so that people wouldn't stamp on it because in those days people were used to drum brakes. i think there was even like propaganda that was like disc brakes are dangerous because you could lock up and slide. Imagine that trying to argue the brakes are dangerous because they actually work lol.
