  • Now you know that you will have mains water, it may be the time to think about placing piping to allow for the installation of a fire sprinkler system. Nobody could bear the thought of the chateau catching fire again! Much easier to install the piping before everything is closed up.

  • While Dan talked about how the chateau was expanding in "feel" with each floor completion, my thoughts went back to the weeks where he was staying at an AirBnB that he couldn't even stand up straight in, when he was technically homeless for a bit.

      @EthanLomas@EthanLomas20 күн бұрын
    • 😂 Not just one BnB, he was homeless at one time until he bought the Chateau and got the Yurt to live in. Dan has come a long way since SHE cheated on him and he had to leave the home he remodeled from scratch. That kitchen he built was beautiful! He even did a cooking show a couple of times in his remodeled kitchen and catered a few dinner parties at Chateau La Lande. I felt so bad for him, he even had to leave Stephanies Chateau! Well, our Dan has come a long way and has his own Chateau De Chamont that he will never have to leave.

  • Even though you'll have the water connection, I imagine you'll also put in a rain water recuperation system from your roof when you finish that. Not just because rain water is better for the garden but also for your things like the laundry and toilets, where drinking water is not required.

    @elebelle51@elebelle5120 күн бұрын

  • Old utility maps are notoriously inaccurate. Before retirement, I worked for a utility company in the states and we had to do that 'treasure hunt locating' all the time, even when we knew the pipe was there somewhere. Given that the mains in the past were probably cast iron, which has a max life span of 100 years under perfect conditions and probably went in between the Wars, they would be ready to be replaced soon even if you knew precisely where they were, so it's probably for the best to put in new at this point.

  • Having a water supply will be a great improvement since water won't have to be hauled in or hauled out of the old well. Nice another floor done!

  • Amazing to see you restore the "bones" of this chateau!! I look forward to the day you have it open for tours and detail this amazing effort to restore it. Wow, what an effort. I have been watching since day 1 and I cannot believe the progress.

  • Mr. Dan for those of us who love to do renovation projects and can only dream of taking on a massive project such as yours can only live vicariously through you, and be your cheerleaders, and supporters. Thank you for taking on such a massive, labor Intensive, mind stretching project and bring it life for all to see and enjoy, we are happy for you on your good days, and sad when you have bad or slow days. So just know that even though you excitement comes through and is absorbed by your followers, we also absorb, the disappointment you have as well. Keep doing what you are doing, and know we appreciate the opportunities we get to watch.

  • Almost time for the roof? Seems like you have flown through this side of the chateau, even with taking time out to get the landscaping in. Experience + great tools + a real shop = amazing progress!

  • Make sure you get a big enough water connection. My meter uses 15mm, and when I've finished our renovations we'll have 6 bathrooms to supply, potentially all at the same time. Something else I'll have to get sorted...
