These are the same people that were shouting "defund the police."
I did a bit of research, the Oakland chapter of the NAACP actually stopped short of endorsing and was against the defund the police movement. As for others in the B community, I'm betting that they wanted to defund the police.

Interesting that they want to declare a state of an emergency so they can get more money to fix a problem that they created. You don't need more money, you need more resolve. Arrest the criminals. Sentence them to long jail terms. Then you'll get results

The public opinion was that hatred of police was wonderful. This emboldened criminals. SFPD has never been so understaffed. Cops just don't appreciate working in woke cities where they are treated badly, but the woke citizens are getting mauled by criminals. Imagine that.

The response from the DA proves that they don't accept responsibility and is finding excuses, so give up and move out because it won't get any better until those people who created the problem get removed.
It's not the DA's fault. They have follow certain guidelines based on lax criminal laws. The people in the Oakland Hills voted for it but now that it's affecting their nice homes it's a problem.

The real harm came from the anti police protests, and the he open contempt from the public against police. Many Bay Area police retired early or quit to go look for work in a city where they were appreciated. As a result, many Bay Area cities, such as Oakland, SF,and Vallejo, have severely understaffed police departments. All of this has greatly emboldened criminals. This is the first time I've ever seen police departments having to put people on hold or forwarded to messages when calling 911. Crime has skyrocketed across the country after the George Floyd riots, and it isn't slowing down.
When the NAACP calls you out for not doing your job, maybe you should listen rather than tell them they aren't being good "African American" allies.

Releasing violent criminals... reducing their sentences... is exponentially worse than actually committing the crime itself. Because of the actions of her, 1 person, how many additional assaults, robberies, murders, and etc. were commited? A recall is NOT enough. She must be charged and convicted for each and every single one of them, and prosecuted to the highest extent of the law. The real law.

The NAACP never advocated defunding the police. It was the youth who demanded that, not the NAACP.
When I lived back east, black-on-black crime was out of control. Young black men, who were in gangs, were slaughtering each other like crazy. A large group of black mothers got together and pledged to stop the killings.Guess what, they walked the streets at night with big heavy bats and the killings stopped. One of the women started a training program with the corporation of the city of Philly. The young men were trained in up-grading dilapidated houses. We should start teaching certain skills in high school again. There's soultions, but who's going to start them???

Most people here earn a fraction of what those who live in the Bay earn, many live paycheck to paycheck. Yet they are polite, upbeat, helpful to one another, and expect that everyone be productive and held to account under the law. In conversations, they are completely baffled how Oakland, SF and LA, with all our natural advantages, voted to accelerate the dystopian slide into anarchy. And making no excuses, the hundreds of thousands of former Californians re-settled here have an answer; "stupidity." Far from turning the state blue, they look back with sadness when they ditch their once-cool black and gold license plates, and in no way want to replicate the mess the Bay is choking on.

I was asked this question during jury duty in Alameda County. Oakland needs to declare a state of emergency over crime, it is out of control and too many criminals are let go or are never caught. The longer this goes on the worse it will get as criminals will think they have a free pass.
