  • Finally, after watching EVERY explorer sunrood drain clog removing video and nobody showing exactly where drain tube exits, I find the only video I would have ever needed to begin with!!! Very thorough with details!! Thanks a billion!!

Thank you for taking the time to solve the matter and sharing it with us, step by step, with details and without rushing. Very much appreciated, got one happy wife and one grateful watcher that saved a ton of money!

  • I have a 2010 Ford Escape with a sunroof. Same problem. Your video, although for an Explorer, is also very close to the fix for the 2010 Escape (and probably several other year Models). I also needed to know where the drain hose exited. Not where the drain holes are located but no videos were available for the exit point. Again, it's very similar. Thank you for the video!

    • Your model also tends to have the sunroof glass slip down and not be adjusted up high enough. I do have videos on how to adjust a sunroof. You only need a Torx number 20 to adjust it

    • So I did as you in the video. Left drain slumps good. Right drain tube empties quickly, but leaks into the passenger compartment, running down the A pillar. Does this mean the tube somehow became disconnected? I recall you saying in the video that you must remove the headliner to fix a detached drain tube.

  • Thanks for the detailed video!!! Out of curiosity, do the drains for the rear of the sunroof cassette suffer the same problem? It appears one of the rear drains exits into the right rear corner of the tailgate recess and is wide open, but where does the left rear drain exit the body and does it have the same "valve" as the front drain tubes?

    @patricktyrrell3504@patricktyrrell35046 ай бұрын
    • I have never seen but maybe one or two for the rears got blocked. The one drains out at the top right like you see it. The other one goes down into the panel on the left there and drains out in front of the bumper. They don't exit it out in the same place because of the shock motor that lifts the hatch. The rears really only see any water if the vehicle is parked with the nose facing up a bit

    • Have been getting a lot of water in the spare tire well on my 2012 explorer. I'll check the drains or could it be the seam sealer issue in your other video? Thanks

  • I have a 2016 Navigator. I hear water trickling at the very rear of the vehicle, on the passenger side, coming down the column at the rear quarter panel. When I purchased the vehicle, it actually had the front drain tub glogged, which I cleaned out so no more water in the passenger front floor board. But having a hard time finding where this passenger back rear trickle is coming from. I didn't clip the front drain tubes as you did, so wondering if that is causing water to flow to the rear of the vehicle. BTW, nothing in the SUV gets wet in the back that I can find. Any advice?

    @quincyreb@quincyreb6 ай бұрын
    • I'd be looking around the hatch area. But if it's not getting in the vehicle, that's odd. The rear drains don't really flow unless it's sitting nose-up. The drains on a 16 are in the C pillar, where the seatbelt comes out. They don't go to the rear because you have the older single glass sunroof.

    • That's what it sounds like. I have a video on how to replace the sunroof motor. You have to drop the headliner to do that. You can use that in order to access the drain tube. You can actually just pull it down a little bit at the opening and look in there and see if it's connected or not without dropping the whole thing

      @SealofPerfection@SealofPerfection2 ай бұрын
    • @@SealofPerfection Thank you for your prompt reply. I like your tip to pull the headliner down a bit for inspection. I will review the motor replacement video for instructions. You have certainly earned my subscription to your channel.

    • Best way is to pull up the carpet and put a fan on it to dry it out, then use some Lysol to kill the mildew. If you can't pull it up, at least remove the mats and leave the windows cracked or open anytime it's out in the sun. It'll take longer that way, but eventually it will dry. Then the Lysol.

    • No, they're a bit different. Those drains exit out the side, behind the door hinges. Yours are probably clogged and just need clearing. I thought I had a generic "how to" for sunroof drains, but I never uploaded it. Doing so now, will post the link when it's ready

    • I don't know why they make them like that. Ford isn't the only one, many other do as well. GM does it, BMW does, Chrysler, etc. The solution for all of them is that they get cut off if they're accessible. Doesn't hurt a thing.

    • So if I get water running down my drivers side pillar and also I feel dampness around the visor and then water goes onto the floor.. is that a detached hose in the pillar? Or can blocked water when it pools up Dean drown the pillar? Trying to decide if I should try to do what you do in the video or if there is a more tricky issue like a detached drain hose ... if that's the case I may take it to dealer to fix
