@@user-pm6nx1fs2w9mm refers to the diameter of the bullets they're firing.
Looked liked only 2 had 50s. The others where distracting.
And they aim for his hips or something like that.
Best part was when he scanned the cop and violence was ''imminent''. the cop was trying to be smart and look away and shoot, but Robocop already knew what was coming.

it's what the script was going for
That sarcasm has no need, rather Robocop was just faster.@@jbdelta4542

Exactly! Like.... why give him that line when literally NO ONE had ".50 cal and above"?!?!?!? It's like he said "we're ALL dead and nothing we do is gonna change that!" It's pure nonsense.... and then shortly after, while Robocop is slaughtering htem all, he whispers in some rando's ears "finish him"? FINISH HIM? With WHAT? He's not even CLOSE to being finished and you literally just told them they need .50 cal and above..... Like.... who writes those scripts? 13 years old kids?
I love when he lets the corrupt cop pull a gun on him. Such contempt. He's like, "You unbelievable moron, do you have ANY idea how fast they made me?"
😂 He played it differently than OG and it works on new levels of its own! Solid remake.
It also gives him essentiall ypermission. 'I am defending myself from a threat' vs 'i am activly beating the shit out of someone not resisting.'
Strange thing he didn't need to force the chief to confess, besides the fact it wouldn't hold up in court since she would have done so at gun point, he uploaded all the evidence to the whole station and they heard one of the two corrupt officers name her. A room full of star witnesses, and that's assuming he didnt upload the evidence to the internet as well, which I would have done out of sheer spite given the circumstances.
dude he was made into a huck of metal was almost killed twice just cause his chief wanted to line her pockets there was no rational thoughts left it was tell the truth or i kill you and you take it to your grave which in all honesty would have been more than she deserved for doing this to her station and city
he got emotional and wanted her to say it
he just wanted to hear it. he already had the mountain of evidence to damn her in court. he just wanted to hear it.
Fun fact: Uploading evidence to the internet without the permission of the DA is grounds for dismissal of said evidence. It can also get the officer that uploaded it fired REAL quick. We actually had a case like that locally about 12 years ago. All charges were dropped and the officer was suspended without pay and demoted. Long story short, don't let your spite work for your enemy.

this seriously needs to be an ongoing TV show.
I second that. I really liked the old tv shows.

Nah ... it's going to get ruined. I'll settle for a new RoboCop 2, though.
I don't trust TV shows getting any better these days
I'd watch that.
Bejng able to recreate a crime scene is pretty nuts
Unpopular opinion, but i really liked this movie. If they made a Robocop 2 and really leaned into the surveillance state- Robocop's ability to listen to and see any camera, anywhere at anytime with facial recognition- and in a way, (maybe not heavy handedly) make a commentary on that, that would be awesome. Along with the the theme of "what makes us human." Very _Brave New World._
Now that crime rates have jacked up in the real world, a sequel would resonate with today's audience.
This film catches a TON of crap, but after seeing more than just CLIPS, it's not half bad. So what if it's not Peter Weller ?
@@DanielAppleton-lr9eq i don't see this rendition as a replacement, as many remakes i figure try to be. the original still holds and makes its own commentry on corparate power overtaking legitimate government etc. even r3 being what it was, pretty much concluded the story arc pretty faithfully in that concept. 2014 address updated concepts and hints at a future invasion of iran...

This movie is underrated as hell. Would’ve killed to see a sequel with the suit (or body) at the end
looks like cheap tv show, I think it's overrated
Naw, It's just OK. Original far better
It's not underrated. It missed the whole point of the first movie, is he machine or man. It's a journey he makes to reclaim his humanity. In this piece of crap he's told "you're still Alex Murphy" from the very beginning.
This remake is badass. People might not like but I love it.
because bunch of boomers had a case of nostalgia. Honestly this is a superior remake to familiarize new audiences to the IP. This is just my opinion but I never got fond of the original film. The old robocop moves is just so clunky
Loved this remake and the og. When it came out I looked at in saying this isn’t the old. This is modern era and kept a open mind and was proud to call it the perfect movie
Its different from the original so people hate it. If they had copied the original people would have said they have no creativity. You can't win.
@Name-kd5jj Same thing with the Resident Evil remakes, many were pissed of because of all the changes and cuts made in RE3 Remake (rightfully so, even more compared to the previous relaunch), so they decided to keep most of the game intact for RE4 Remake, AND THERE WERE THOSE THAT GOT PISSY BECAUSE IT WAS SO SIMILAR TO THE ORIGINAL.
@lovell8983 the old robocop was gory. And yes clunky, because it set the stage for funding cuts to the police force, (example Shitty police cars). The new one I'm not sure, what was going on there, because everything looked shiny and new.
this reboot is actually great and underappreciated
It goes for a different vibe and poses a different question. In the original you couldn't tell how much of the man was left, here you didn't know if the man could overpower the machine he was stuck inside
i love his speed and this black and red suit. And this actor did a very good job
One of the most underrated remakes. I'm a fan of the OG trilogy as well as the 2014 remake. This one also deserves a sequel. Kurtwood Smith played one of the most brutal, despicable villains of all time and Peter Weller evens that out with just the right amount of heroic badassery. That gunslinger scene is as iconic as it gets.
Just another totally pointless remake. Its even manages to lose the heart of the original.
Another soulless cashgrab remake only made to prey on peoples nostalgia for the infenitely superior original. Yeah I've seen it for free on television and I still want my money back.
It is sad you see it this way, because it truly is faithful to the original. The thing is, the movie is "updating" the themes of the old movies to nowadays. I think it is a really good work and a honest remake
I'm with you on this. I'm not going to say that it's an _amazing_ movie, but it's totes solid and doesn't just try to recreate the original. They knew they couldn't possibly top the first one unless they did their own thing so they tried to give this version it's own style and thematic statement, and over-all I think they did a good job. It just had way too big shoes to fill, that's all. I honestly think that if it wasn't for the _massive_ shadow thrown by the original Robocop, this movie would have been much more appreciated.
I was part of this movie and it was not a good film. It has brought in joke residual payments for me and my friends. Meaning, it's not being watched or in demand. We all hated it and the people have spoken.
I don't usually like reboots, but this was absolutely one of the best reboots ever. And I loved the first one.

This is why I think I like this version. The writing is smarter in making robocop think that he has autonomy and that he is malcontent and vengeful, which in the original Murphy seemed too passive and unfeeling.
Didn't seem too passive when he stuck Boddicker with his usb spike.
I like how in the scene where Vallon gets tipped off, you can faintly hear a female voice on the other side of the phone call.
Perhaps it was the Chief?😁
Poor guys don't know about that thing the scientist have said. When the visor goes down and Robocop is in combat mode - he's no longer Alex Murphy. He's a hunter-killer robot. Alex is just in for the ride. An illusion of free will. He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with. And he absolutely will not stop. Until you are dead... or arrested. But I wouldn't get my hopes up for that last option.
with the visor down i wouldent get my hopes up period, the way i see it that visor comes down for only 3 reasons: 1- protecting his wife and kids and freinds 2-protecting himself 3-dispatching people from this world permantly
With the visor down he becomes... Pewpew Mc Pew
@@user936 lol yea oh a better abreveation is when you see robocops visor go down you GTFO of there lol
Why are you combining elements of the terminator film for a cringe worthy post?
@@stitcha123 That's what this version of Robocop was all about. The thin line between him as Alex Murphy and him as a hunter-killer robot who has no conscience and will not stop until his target is eliminated. Have you even watched this movie? Because I did. And I liked it, because those elements were not present in the original version. In this version Alex didn't even know that he shares his body with a mechanical monster who will not hesitate to kill the target no matter the cost. He didn't know the consequences of his visor going down. Such a shame that they never made a sequel dealing with this problem in further detail. It would be an interesting story if the machine killed someone who Alex wouldn't shoot and then Alex would be convinced that he was the one who pulled the trigger. Because he has no idea that with his visor down he has nothing to say in the matter.
I know this movie was highly underrated, but that it's from a 'nostalgic comparison' POV. The movie itself was good. This scene alone proves it.
To this day I don't understand what people disliked so much about it.
9/10, those in power don't like it when you're too good at your job
This movie was a little underrated imo. Robocop fans wanted an emotionless slow moving version of the character like they remember, but instead they got a more emotionally expressive version that could actually move around with dexterity. I don’t like the black design though. I also wish they had gone with the corporate dystopian version of Detroit like the original.
It wasn't that. The original was a satire of the media, capitalism, and corporate America with the classic who am I/Tin man story with a cyberpunk twist in the middle of it. Set in a dystopian version of the USA behind it, with a hard Rated R with all the blood and guts with it to get its point across. It didn't pull its punches and it became a classic because of that. The remake went political ( Sam Jackson character is basically any host on Fox news) with barely any satire in it, went for a pg-13 rating when in the past it was proven that the Robocop series works best as a TV-MA or rated R movie and last but not least, the director and the producers played it way to safe on the film.
@@rezevilfanI thought it was simply corruption... you know, that bad thing that pollutes everywhere.
@@unknownname8591 It's not that simple sadly. In the original trilogy it is shown that the public of Detroit is complicit of OCP's takeover of the cops and the later the city is do to the incompetence of Detroit's city hall and the the city itself going bankrupt. The public thinks (which in turn is compounded in via the media that OCP owns itself) that OCP is the bright future for Detroit along with its delta city plans. This is shown in the second film where the Mayor tries to raise funds to buy the city back from OCP before they default on the bank loan they took from OPC via a T.V. fundraiser only to raise about 4 grand out of 37.4 million by the end of it. Its only by the end of Robocop 2 when Robocain goes nuts and kill a bunch of people in downtown Detroit and the events of Robocop 3 that the city wakes up so of speak, sees OCP true colors, and starts to fight back. It's the see no evil, hear no evil that the public itself adopted that allowed OPC corruption to grow within the city. And by the way, this is only one side of the story. You got Alex Murphy a.k.a. Robocop's journey in all three films to find his humanity and OCP crazy ass side as well.

Though its a remake and its pointless but you do have to admit he looks badass with the all black
Couldn't agree more.
Pointless? How about a different perspective. How about, the hidden plot here is just what kind of technology is being used? How about, whatever the writers thought about putting in, existed long before they “invented” it and put it to film or paper? How about, instead of a “rogue” electronic monster, it was several agencies, along with all the comm providers working in concert to deal with enemy elements? Pointless, you say. I say, this warning was already too late. Even the late Tom Clancy was brutally interrogated by the CIA, demanding to know where he got the information for the equipment in his first book, “Patriot Games.” Funny thing about interrogations. You can learn a lot as the one being interrogated. He even said, whatever you think you know about what the government trades agencies have is only the tip of the iceberg. They have hundreds of times more than you can possibly imagine. He was probably putting that out on the conservative side. Pointless. SMH.
I admit... Maybe IS not the original Robocop but.. Not Bad this one. That black metal suit IS pretty f""""N cool 😊

Fun movie. Some slick action and top notch cgi. This was 2014 and still holds up. Wouldn’t mind an unrated cut with added blood.
I liked it too. I didn't understand why everybody was moaning about it. It's not the original RoboCop, but a re-imagining. Of course it never will be as impactful as Paul Verhoeven's vision is, but it's still a solid film. It's enjoyable.
Most of the OG MCU predates this movie by a couple of years and their CGI is still considered to be some of the best. 2014 may seem like a long time ago in technology but the tools were there to make incredible movies.

When a person died, but Omnicorp still made me go to work...
I like how he scanned that "violence imminent" and looked away cause he knew he was faster. Actually that's the real RoboCop, fast and strong. The original is too slow. Even a child won him in the 2nd movie
The original is the GOAT not matter what you say. He was a walking tank in the original.
@viper22jc a tank that was stopped by a child with a gun. He just shot off his hand and that's it, he can't do anything
What I like about this is that it shows a blend of Murphy as himself and as Robo-Cop. He has heightened reflexes and perception from all the cybernetic enhancements but still has the human touch of purposely trying to bait someone into acting so he can react.

It's not that this movie was bad per say, but the original was a masterpiece. I saw it in the theaters when I was 8 or 9 years old. The original Murphy death scene was so traumatic that it really engaged the audience connecting us to Murphy, I feel this one didn't have that same level of engagement. Should have used more of the original score too. Loved the new suit and also the actor that plays in this one, just felt the story and emotional connection was not as strong as the original.

This movie was pretty good for a reboot. I liked it.
The warehouse scene would have been a lot cooler if the camera could track anybody for more than 2 seconds. I liked this remake but I understand why a lot of people hated it.
They should have shot it like a horror movie, with Murphy being *fast*, sneaky, and brutal. Showing it from their perspective would have allowed them to focus on their fear and panic, contrasting that human emotionality with Murphy's cold rage.
That Police Scene
That shot after the "thank you for your cooperation" is insane! Great scene!! It is a shame that the studio and José Padilha didn't respect the soul of Robocop. This movie could have been really great.

@@goukeban6197 I liked the remake, but it definitely lacked the biting satire of the original.
@@jackbaxter2223 I wouldn't describe that as lacking respect for the soul of the original, though. I think this one tried to have its own spin on the setting and theming and I think it did it quite well.
@@goukeban6197 I See it as an "Alternate Reality" take for the most part. And honestly I think it did well putting a different spin on a previously told story. I agree with most folks. It's really cool how they modernized this version of robocop. Underrated movie
This was underrated by far.
A few things I don't get in this movie: A) Despite knowing he was walking into a bunker, Murphy decided to "Tank" his way into Vallon. Not sure this was brave or stupid. B) The plot about the Chief Officer being corrupt goes nowhere after this scene. It is totally forgotten. C) No info is given why Murphy murder attempt wasn't investigated, or it was closed too soon, other than the implicit information of it being due to corrupt cops. I don't get it, the DA was corrupt too? D) I get that in this version, Murphy wasn't very well like in the precint, his only friend was his partner Jack. But I don't get why no one stood for him when Omnicorp shut him down, especially after that mountain of evidence about corrupt officers. At least Jack should have said no when Omnicorp went to retrieve Murphy.
When he uses heat vision and can still see them all clearly gets me 😂 that room would be glowing red with all the gunfire and explosions. No way he would be able to see clearly.

I really enjoyed this remake.
".50 cal and above" proceeds to use a Kriss vector
What's brilliant about the original trilogy is, Murphy still has emotions, but they are expressed through a cybernetic filter which at a glance makes Robocop's character sterile and unsettling. Here he's treated like any other masked movie hero: just unmask during dramatic moments and act the hell out of it.
I know, right? In the original, the underlying point was the soul of the man practically converted into a robot trying to find it's way through the machine, with the unsettling way his body moves adding another layer of dehumanization. Murphy can never have any semblance of normal life again, but his unwavering sense of duty kept him going on despite everything he lost. In the remake on the other hand, 2014 Murphy is just himself, but better, with robotic augmentations sophisticated enough to allow him to do everything a normal human could, and better still (I mean ok, guy lost his dick, but that's nothing compared to what 1987 Murphy lost, he still had a family and was considered human). Even when they attempt to suppress him, he just bounces right back without any struggle, sacrifice or explanation. Robocop 2014 is just a superhero origin movie, he could fit right in a marvel or DC movie.
missing the point, the difference between the original and this remake is that in the original it was robocop realizing that he is still human while in this movie is alex murphy fighting to remain human, the conflict is just different in the original they didnt wanted him to be a human, in this one the objective was for alex muprhy to still exist to find a loophole around a law so that they could sell their product, it adapted to the era

as much as i hate the black suit design, the motorcycle is pretty awesome. the regular cop car for grey robocop was extremely awkward and weird. they even had to remove the car seat so they could fit him in there to film it. robocop flipping around to get on the bike like he is an attachment is just way cooler and fits his design so well
This .50 Cal and above bullcrap gets me laughing every time.
I love this movie! As a fan of The OG I was really happy!
This is proper robocop, cold, calculated and effective, yet actions are swayed by old emotion, that's what makes robocop interesting.
Joel Kinnaman did a greatjob here
They need 2 make a sequel to this robocop
Why wasn't this movie a success?!
How RC controls its heat signature is mind blowing
Maybe the only person to have really enjoyed this and the total recall remake. I don't want exaxt copies in my remakes. I want a new interpretation and story. I truly enjoyed these newer versions.
I preferr Robocop driving a car. Rather than riding a bike.
