Legal intake specialists are an important part of the client acquisition process for law firms. But what else is part of the intake specialist job description at a law firm? In this video, I go over the five main responsibilities that you should understand when it comes to intake specialists, plus the one thing an intake specialist should NEVER do.
The first thing that an intake specialist does is capture client information. When a client signs up with a law firm, important information, such as name, address, and next of kin needs to be collected. This information allows the attorney to represent the client and helps with onboarding.
Another part of the intake specialist job description is helping the client understand the case. You can think of a legal intake specialist as an interpreter. As the case proceeds, they fill the client in on details of what the attorney is doing.
The five responsibilities I share in this video are all critical to understanding what an intake specialist at a law firm does. However, there is one thing that an intake specialist should absolutely never do -- serve as a “runner.” It is illegal to solicit business by chasing ambulances and it is certainly not part of the intake specialist job description.
