I am surprised how low amount of maths there is in both songs, if they rap about maths they could easily make every line a maths-line as there are so many maths-jokes etc from pi to e to x to i to derivatives to roots to sin/cos to binary to so many more maths things they could make puns about
have you listened to Timothee Chalamet's statistics rap that he did in high school?..... it is so bad that it is good. I'm a statistician so I can tell you it has no statistics/educational value.
You should react to Grand Number TheoRAM (GNT 1:1) by Cambatta. It's a lot more simple mathematically than referencing arctan but a lot more mathematical than what these dudes did. I promise, you'll love it.

What he is referring to is that women he is referencing have a tan alongside their curved bodies that resembles the graph of the arctangent function. I wasn't impressed by his lyrics here, but that was probably his most impressive bar in the song.

It would be more impressive if it didn't need the music video to go alongside it to make sense of the line. Even with the video laying the graph of the arctan over her, Tom was still lost (as are many other respondents here making some really wild theories as to the meaning).
I think he was referring arctan to how a girl is positioned when she getting it from the back😅

I love the idea of Tom reacting to maths in pop culture. I had a hard time watching this though, because this rap today is so stupid. I had my rap phase back when artists like Public Enemy and NWA were big.

"Shorty got arc-tanned" is the mathematician's equivalent of a gangster saying "I'll pop a cap in your asse". A drive-by shooting if you will. Once you've been arc-tanned, you might as well divide by zero because the rest is history.
