Cami Layé Okún is a selector/DJ from Cuba inspired by the merged sounds of Africa and Latin America. Cami’s vinyl sets go beyond this as she collects music from around the world, searching stories through music with similar organic roots. Engaging audiences with Cuban disco. Afro-Caribbean rarities, and tropical Amazonian funky grooves. She has shared her collection with dance floors in Brazil, Mexico, Panama, Finland, Germany, France, Switzerland, the UK, Greece, Italy, Netherlands and Belgium. Currently based in Havana, she is so far the only local that produces and promotes events in 100% vinyl format during the last year Cami hosts her own monthly show “Insolar” on London NTS Radio where she curates sunny music from different parts of the world.
“For this mix, I have selected Afro-Cuban funky grooves released on the Areito label in the 1970s and 1980s. Most of these records never leave my bag. Thank you for listening, hope you enjoy.”

Backatcha bro or sis / all 💚💛💙
Likewise❤🙏🏽☀️
Everything about this is gold, set, setting, music, vibe. I love everyone right now😊
I wish it tenfold back to you !
I was walking in old Havana... heard some funky, smooth afro jazz. I peek my head in the door, and seen two older gentlemen grooving. They welcomed me in. I was amazed at all the records he had.... he was like nah, lets go upstairs. Literally thousands of records. We listened together for hours!
What year was this ?
@@OnALivingSpreeLLC this was 2023, actually 3 weeks ago!
Coolest comment of the day!!!😎💥😝🌎🎶
Amazing experience and memories no doubt! ♥️
I have friends like this, as we’ve all been into music since first hearing from a young age, for me, my Mum having the radio on all the time from the 60s onwards.
Man if I was like jeff benzos rich I would employ djs to play this in my living room on a rotating schedule
Or u could just play this video on repeat
@@kingdomrevolutionwithmarkw9851 lol yeah :)
Benzos lol
one hundred percent, actually a great idea
@Preston in that case is Benchos lol
She is half Cuban, half Bolivian, and i met her here in Bolivia, really nice girl, with good musical taste and style.
I identified some songs, but two of them couldn't be, despite applying quintuple redundancy (AHA, Shazam, SoundHound, Google and Deezer's SongCatcher). Luckily the two missing ones were identifed by SpanishGrooves, to whom I thank for completing the set. Follows below Cami Layé Okún's set list with timestamps: 1) 0:11 "El 4-5-6" (Los Brito); 2) 2:53 "Del Copacabana al 34 (Remasterizado)" (Los Yoyi); 3) 8:29 "Cacao (Remasterizado)" (Grupo Algo Nuevo); 4) 13:08 "Tamba Iya" (Ricardo Eddy Martínez); 5) 16:30 "Y No Le Conviene (Remasterizado)" (Los Van Van); 6) 20:31 "Súper Son" (Juan Pablo Torres y Algo Nuevo); 7) 23:40 "El Pueblo Manda" (Grupo Candombe); 8) 28:31 "Taka Taka Ta" (Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna); 9) 31:15 "Que Palo Es Ese" (Los Van Van); 10) 36:04 "Este Es Mi Sucu Sucu" (Grupo Achere); 11) 39:28 "Baila Guiro Son Wambari" (Orquesta Maravillas de Florida).
Gracias por la playlist, una pena el tema 7 que es cojonudo, pero tampoco yo lo localizo
@@sergiocameoperez2219 I'm also trying to find out the name of the song beginning at the 23:40 mark where the chorus goes, "Baila conmigo"
@@Gerolanfalan update us if you find it! Sick tune
Track 7 @23:40 is Grupo Candombe - El Pueblo Manda. Track 10 @ 36:04 mark is Grupo Achere - Este Es Mi Sucu Sucu.
@@spanish-grooves Thanks for identifying the missing songs.
Put this on on a lazy Sunday and felt like my life was a movie
Tonight is her performance at Café de Nadie in Mexico City. Tried so hard to attend, but i couldn’t make it. She’s fabulous!
ah man, hopefully you can make it next time bud!
She…it’s not about her, it’s about the music, young men.
@@Biber_41 Heaven forbid a young man should express appreciation of Ms Okun's performance and taste in music.
@@Biber_41 oh, come on! The music doesn’t play by itself.
is she coming to the US?
How can you not feel inspired amongst all those lovely plants. Great set!
I was looking for this comment, her plant background is lovely.

The plants, the music, the vibes. I’m in heaven
She is actually spinning records😍😍😍 don’t see that much now days 👑🎧🎶🖤✨
so true
With that skill set she is truly able to understand beat matching. If you can’t mix with real records you not a true dj IMO. 😎
This channel's absolutely riddled with tasteful vinyl mixes, it's wonderful
Biggest trend in Europe right with prices higher for LPs higher than everrr
Black man, Los Angeles California you rocked this baby girl seriously.

You know it is legit Cuban as it can get when she pulls out an Areito Record!!!!!

very refreshing. glad to see the old-school gear in use.
I was 21 years old when I heard this. 51 now and unlike me, it never gets old.
OMG. I was hoping she'd be on MAJ one day! Yes!
same here!!
Same here.....and what a grandly on point set is too!!
But like can we appreciate that she's mixing it hella old school and how dope that is?! That's so cool though. That's really dope DJing skills.
I mean the selection is impecable, but she didn't do any mixing, it's more a display of her taste in music than her DJing skills.
i opened for her at solar de tula a few years ago, such a kind heart and talented woman!
THIS. IS. SO. FIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
