  • I am pretty sure the unit limits on Keyzk are there because the chieftain recruitment works differently. At 22:10 you can see they are more like regiment of renown without any cost and recruited instantly up to a limit. With standard recruitment you need to wait for the cycle of the military building and pay for them. So with Keyzk you can easily get extra rot knights and toad dragons that are free of charge and might even come before you reach the right building tier.

  • I’m disappointed Bile Trolls don’t have a mid-range vomit attack. Even if it was just a Precursor attack. If they’re just tougher trolls that apply debuffs to enemies around them, they’re just River Trolls but evil. And they don’t feel drastically different from the other Monstrous units in the Nurgle roster.

    • Technically river trolls lowers melee attack while bile trolls lower melee defence. Nurgle armies def don't need more defencive options, and making the bile trolls that part of the army is makes them fill a niche. Giving anymore might make them a bit too good

  • 16:21 I believe from the blog the Chieften tab was gonna be similar to the beastmen or chaos dwarf caps where you can contiously increase the caps for Dominance, but with the seperate recruit panel it is confusing overlap with the reworked regular recruitment

    • I feel like it's cap on a cap, meaning the unit cap it's not infinite. You first need to grind fealty for chieften to unlock the maximum unit cap achievable. Beating Chieften's quest battle will increase it to maximum. And then you need to use dominance to actually achieve the maximum cap so you can recruit these units. So pretty much the maximum mortars you can have is like 2 or 3, you can decide if you want to put them in one army or spread them in different ones

    • @@eewweeppkk The chieftain recruitment has 0 initial cost and come in at full HP. The normal Rot Knights / Toad Dragons are still recruitable in the normal style. The cap does have increases in various Devotion levels, but there doesn't seem to be a repeatable increase button like Chaos Dwarf / Beastmen. It looks like Kayzk will have 3 Chaos Chariots of Nurgle, 3 Rot Knights, and 2 Toad Dragons at max devotion.

  • Yeah I'm pretty certain that the chieftain recruitment is a separate pool of units, so Kazyk just lets you have what is essentially an extra toad dragon and rot knight anytime anywhere at full health, regardless of the state of your recruitment buildings and corruption.

  • The reason the chieftans have their own units is that they give bonuses to them, we see that with the chieftan Mournhowl, his talisman gives frostbite attaks for all non-Nurgle Chieftan units in his army, so yea a dreadquake mortar can have frostbite attaks if i am reading it correctly :D (sorry for spelling mistakes im danish)

  • I think the unit card for Kayzk might be on large unit sizes. His HP is super low for a mounted nurgle character. Same for the pestigors. The unit card for pestigors says 80 models but at various points during gameplay they have the regular 120.

  • I wouldn't mind if the bile trolls were the exact same thing they already are BUT with the simple addition of a single ammo, explosive ranged attack. In which they vomit forwards on a low range against ground enemies

  • If I had to guess on unit cap from a chieftain of a unit he can recruit normally, its you can access a unit of X from the chieftain even if you dont have the building tier but only up to the cap. So you might get a toad dragon a little early from Kazyk if you get his fealty up faster than building development for example.

  • the reason for the units in the chieftain tab having unit caps is because it essentially works like outpost recruitment from your ally's but with dominance instead of gold so rather than viewing it as being able to recruit something a different way its more like allying with another nergal faction and getting units that way hence the limit, you'll also be able to get units from the other generals in the same way

  • I'd assume the caps on the chieftan trees notably Kazycks just lets you get some units earlier. Toad Dragons and Rot Knights are Tier 5 a ways off at the start of the game. You have plenty of Norscans to fight though. Build up his devotion nice and quick buy that slot and nice and early you have an extra Rot Knight and a Toad Dragon far earlier than you normally would expect added to your recruit pool. Would also explain why its capped. Wouldn't want you stacking the currency and buying up Rot Knights and Toad Dragons by turn 30 or something.

  • Ive always liked having named/special characters as other lords instead of generic lords. This already fulfilled that for me. I really hope this is also the case for khornes dlc. Cant wait for Malakais campaign reveal

  • The point of Kayzk’s recruitment thing is likely that it enables you to get Rot Knights and Toad Dragons significantly earlier than you can through buildings (but in a limited amount). You can probably advance Kayzk’s fealty much more quickly than you can get a tier V settlement, plus they cost a different resource to recruit, so you can save on some cash 💰

  • I believe the hero unit caps just give you another option to increase access to those units. Nurgle is keeping the cycle system for army recruits which adds to your unit pool. It’ll be another way to increase what is available in that pool possibly even before you hit tier 5 in a settlement.

  • my guess with the hero recruitment caps is it will work like the Waagh recruitment for the Greenskins where you get a 'free' recruit of that unit like you did Lava Arachnaroks/Feral Hydras etc. The cap i guess is just there to stop you cheesing it and spamming 2/3/4 Rot Knights/Gorgons/Toad Dragons early on.

  • I think the units bought through the chieftains, like the toad dragon for Kayzk, are bought with Dominance rather than gold. Which is why it has a separate limit number.

    • @@LordKamos777 Yeah they in the end choose to make them gors and not bestigors, from a gameplay point i do prefer this way since middle range infantry will help much more the factions, you already have chosen for high tier infantry or even chaos warriors, for beastmen is very good they are the mid range variant.

  • You're misreading the cycle buildings. Plague Ogres and Soul Grinders are available at tier 3, and you now get one Greater Unclean One per cycle at tier 4.

  • I think the caps for units such as toad dragons is there because you can get your first toad dragon through the chieftain a lot earlier than if you had to wait for a tier 4/5 settlement. So it's capped for balancing reasons

  • 25:20 Since the release of Grom(?), we've had a lot of new varieties of Troll added to the game. Norsca is due for a re-work. One Norsca LL in particular has always been lacklustre and in need of his own mechanics. Whatever these Trolls look like in their individual rosters right now, we have to remember that Throgg will eventually have access to all of them. These Bile Trolls' -5 melee defence fits perfectly into a Troll King's roster that already has River Trolls with -5 melee attack (or whatever it is). I don't know what's in the source-books in terms of more variety but I think we probably still have at least a couple more to come (surely there's at least a Khornate variant). Regardless, we already have enough Trolls in-game for Throgg to have an almost-exclusively Troll roster where he upgrades them in a similar way that the CoC do to get a full roster out of an incomplete one. Maybe add some Ikit or Throt-style upgrades on top of that. Trolls are no longer the jokes they once were but they're still not great. Yet. Wait until a re-worked Troll King can unite them all under his banner.

  • It makes sense to put Pestigors in the mid-tier armor piercing position, since most people would just use AP Chosen for their high-tier slot. Might give them more of a chance to see use, especially with the hex they have. Also even if Kayzk does just give you a free unit of Rot Knights and Toad Dragons, it could be nice to have access to a couple of those in the early game since they are tier 5 after all.

  • I definitely was hoping the bile trolls would be some kind of ranged troll variant (even very short range). Partly because Nurgle could benefit from more ranged units, partly because I’d love Throgg to get some ranged trolls

  • From what I'm understanding, the Chieftain's recruitment is a form of instant recruitment and the cap is SPECIFICALLY related to this form of recruitment. Aka, you can only recruit one toad dragon from Mr. The Befouled, but you can still recruit them normally otherwise.

  • I wonder if the removal of the kugath artwork from the plague mechanic is to allow for it to be used by clan pestilens…anyway absolutely hyped though I hope they maintain some balance so the mid-game doesn’t get too easy with his faction

    • I think that was a generic great unclean one in the plague mechanic art. Could be they just removed it because there wasn’t room in the new UI - but could also be to make it suitable for clan Pestilens! Although I think they could have easily swapped the image to a rat at a cauldron, so probably that isn’t the reason.

  • The caps are there so you can recruit higher tier units anywhere anytime. You can get the rot knights earlier in the game before you get the building to get them. It would be too op if you could get like 10 before you have the building so 2 to start seems fine

  • Yes this looks like an improvement on the last DLC already. I hope Slaanesh and Khorne (if they actually come) get the same sort of attention. The whole gathering of different races under specific race chieftains should also be considered for a reworked Archaon and similarly Slaanesh and Khorne maybe should have a similar mechanic for bringing in other races. Agree with the Bile Trolls - surely they should have a missile like bile projectile ability rather than just a glorified fart?

    • Yeah, I hope they eventually work the chaos realms into the immortal empires map as a sort of dungeon mechanic or something. Go in, fight nurgloads of daemons, get loot, panic trying to open another portal, run the hell away. That kind of thing

  • Small thing for Pestigors. The stats are without the beastmen Frenzy-like buff (I forghet the name). It gives extra move speed, mele attack and charge bonus. Also, if they and the Ogres and Trolls are marked by Nurgle, how come they are not getting the swarm of fly that gives mele defence. Especially since Pestigors have 20 def and Ogres stats are underwhelming for a tier 4 unit...

  • Rot flies having a low charge is probably related to the fact they’re slow (for a flying unit). They lack an impact on initial contact but they have pretty damn good melee AND ranged stats for a flyer. They can’t be good at everything.

    • Also, I get that they’re large but that is all the more reason why they wouldn’t be fast. Wind resistance would be much more impactful for a 300 lb insect than it would your average mosquito.

  • Yeah reduced recovery time is always an odd bonus. I don't let lords die and even if I were to be more aggressive and accept the casualty, it doesn't seem practical to lose time on recovery and then also recruitment of a new army.

  • Other than Bile Trolls not having a spit attack, i do like what im seeing. Tbh they could still give bile trolls a spit attack. We have a troll that does that attack, throgg. So just take Throggs attack, make the projectile more nurgle like and give it to bile trolls.
