  • You’re a breath of fresh air! I loved your video and it was just what I was looking for. Now to just work out the yarn, gauge and do some ‘knit math’. Love it!

  • Thank you for your recommendations...I've put many of them into my favourites 😊. (I love my Love Note🥰). When choosing patterns, I rely a lot on peoples Ravelry notes...my pet peeve is no notes! Maybe you could do a short episode explaining how helpful Ravelry notes are to other knitters?

  • Great round up. I'm currently knitting Ranunculus as a tee and trying to get my head around all the new things it wants. It's my first sweater since the 80's, so everything is very different. I usually make lace shawls, so I don't know that I've done a gauge swatch in several decades. 😅 The pattern that almost got started first was the Don't Panic one. I also looked at the one with the cables resembling 😊 I am contemplating waist shaping but have no idea of the rules for that, so I'm DC 2 stitches on each side every other row but that might be too rapid. But it's soooo boxy at the sleeve division. Anyway, I loved your vlog and your Ranunculus X3. They look fab! Oh and before I wander off, I'm in CA too. Antelope Valley, near Mojave. ❤

I’m still not sure that I will but I did see a few in this video that I might consider. I liked the Ilya and also the Muscari but with some modifications to make the neck more open. • I have knit a Ranunculus making it at a tighter gauge and a lot less positive ease. I have a couple of core patterns that fit me well that I can change up to add texture or use different lace. For example, I used the Ranunculus yoke stitch count and increases but changed out some of the lace and substituted a 'lacy diamond's stitch. All you need to do is a little knitting math for the necessary stitch count. I also added the diamonds just before the hem ribbing and am very happy with the result.

I did knit Willa immediately after my first Ranunculus. I made it too large for me with 15" ease, but turns out it's one of my favorites. I want to make another with less ease and do like so many of This.Bird.Knits' designs. Added most of your suggestions to my favorites!....except for Love Notes. • Good morning Leslie! Love the Ranunculus sweater you knit!! The yarn you used really showcases the stitch definition so nicely. I notice so many of the vloggers on KZhead add a carry-along fuzzy thread like mohair to this sweater which takes away from the stitch definition, and that is totally an opinion that is my own preference which is part of the joy of knitting! I wanted to thank you for doing so much research in available tees and their particular uniqueness!!!!!!! Wilfreda in lavender was my personal favorite out of the sweaters and having said that, I don't think I will be knitting a lacy tee at least this year. Since so many people have knitted Ranunculus I won't be knitting it. I think it has become some kind of badge of honor among knitters but there are so many other sweaters I have in my favorites to knit for myself so I don't want to break away from my plans to add this 'just because.' Oh ya - I also have some weird aversion to the 'Love Knot sweater.' It kind of says to me: "I wanna be like Ranunculus but more over the top!" All those big yarn overs remind me of big horse nostrils! But again that's just how it strikes me- an in your face pattern. Have a great week!!!!! Carrie from Northern CA Bay Area.

    • Hi Carrie, thanks for your comment! I have to give a shout-out to everyone on KZhead and IG who helped me source these patterns! But isn’t the Wilfreda so gorgeous?! Love it. • With all the math you’ve done, and knitting of excellent sweaters, I’m sure you could adapt any lace type (free) pattern into a yoke sweater for yourself ie design your own. You must by now know what stitch count with which yarn will fit your measurements and ease that you want. I’m in awe of the math you do to figure things out. The pattern round up is great but I am certain you could design your own. 🤩😎

  • Design Customization is more important than 'Inclusiveness'. This creates the opportunity for others to focus on extreme sizes and pigmentation to customize perfectly. I'm so sick of the buzz word 'INCLUSIVE'.... People shouldn't be forced to make accommodations for the extreme sizes or pigmentations. Average means 'most' and its okay for people to design or produce products for the average population.

      @knitcalifornia@knitcalifornia6 ай бұрын
    • @@knitcalifornia I didn't expect you too. My opinion is based on 35+yrs of knitting. I had to teach myself how to shape garments for people with eating disorders. (TINY & THICK) I've learned some designers aren't capable of truly custom designs of ALL body sizes. Just like you can't do everything... you shouldn't expect others to be capable of creating everything..... for everyone at all times. Very thin people's body shape and mass is completely different than very thick people's body shape and mass..... Same for the average body shape/mass. When we accept designers for what they are capable of (their strengths), we as knitters, receive better patterns. There are designers that focus on creating garments for the thicker people(which is NOT inclusive, because its just for a certain size group)... and their beautiful curves. Its a specialty. Those garments actually fit the person and doesn't just hang of their body like a shapeless bag with arm holes. The goal for knitted garments is be flattering. Many "Inclusive" patterns just hang off the chest or hang off the abdomen.... or are to tight. Using Buzz-Words and ideas isn't for the creative soul. Try thinking about the middle ground and accepting people for their strengths.... not the SJW ideas.

  • I really enjoy this type of video and your honest appraisals. Yume by Isabelle Kramer looks interesting, too. I own the pattern, but haven’t knitted it yet. 🧶
