Johnny B, how much there is to see
Just open your eyes and listen to me
Straight ahead, a green light turns to red
Oh why can't you see? Oh Johnny B

My dad was dying of cancer in the hospital while this song was playing on the radio. when I hear this song it reminds me of him and the struggle we fought together to the end. Unfortunately the disease was stronger, but he stays in my heart and memory and lives through the song.
May his soul rest in peace... 🙏🙏🙏

After 20 years, I finally found one of the most beautiful songs of my youth.
I heard this song on the radio in 1988, recorded it, and it wasn't until 2001 that I learned what band it was.
Ich auch 😊
Incredible! It took me 37 years to find it and listen to it again.
I totally agree bro
One of the best songs ever made

"I heard this song in November 1987 after experiencing a super stressful situation, and it lifted my spirits incredibly. I couldn't figure out what band it was, and I never heard it again. I spent years trying to find out the song and the band, but I never came across it again, although the melody was engraved in my brain. I tried several times to find it on KZhead and even with apps where you hum a song and it searches for the closest matches. A couple of days ago, I smoked a joint and searched on KZhead for 'best songs of 1987,' and a video with 140 songs (about 10 seconds of each song) popped up. Around the middle of the video, 'Johnny B' by The Hooters appeared, and I got a shot of adrenaline, tremendous excitement (amplified by the joint) hearing again the song I had listened to 37 years ago!! Amazing!"

I've been looking for this song for five years. I had no way to find this song because I didn't know the lyrics or the band. The only thing I remembered was this medieval melody at the beginning of the song. And today this song happened to be on the radio. Finally I know the song again what makes me really happy because this song reminds me of my childhood :)
I wasn't born back then and somehow it still reminds me of some years ago, crazy
I think there is just this nostalgy in it, you know?

Great song :D. There is also a great hip-hop cover of this song by Down low :D.
Only 3 minutes 55 seconds but here you’ll find: great mix of rock and folk, outstanding vocals and full of drama story which you can understand without words. Thank you The Hooters and David Fincher 😊
Mein Gott.
My mom was working on a local radio station in the 90's in the Russian far east. They used to sign off every night with this song for years. So amazing to hear it again!
It's a sleepless night she's callin' your name It's a lonely ride I know how you want her Again and again you're chasin' a dream, yeah But Johnny my friend she's not what she seems Johnny B How much there is to see Just open your eyes and listen to me Straight ahead a green light turns to red Oh, why can't you see, oh, oh Johnny B And when you drive her home is she sittin' real close Does she make you weak well that's the way that she wants you You're strung out again she's taken you over You've been here before why can't you let go Johnny B How much there is to see Just open your eyes and listen to me Straight ahead a green light turns to red Oh, why can't you see, oh, oh Johnny B And when she calls your name my sweet Johnny B You can drive all night and you know she'll be waiting To love you again her kiss is her poison Forever inside you wherever you go Johnny B How much there is to see Just open your eyes and listen to me Straight ahead a green light turns to red Oh, why can't you see, oh, oh Johnny B Hey, Johnny B How much there is to see Just open your eyes and listen to me (just listen to me) Straight ahead a green light turns to red Oh, why can't you see, oh, oh Johnny B (yeah) Oh, can't you see Oh, oh Johnny B Oh, can't you see

I love the atmosphere and feel of the Hooters. They have a cool blend of mixing folk music with Rock and the synths are not overused and actually compliment the song unlike in many other 80s bands. The buildup is just so good, you can tell these guys are extremely talented, unlike many other all flash no substance bands.

Stay away from heroin guys. The Hooters told you so!
My favorite Hooters song!!
So heart breaking when she kisses a child in the video. So often children are literally born addicted because the drug passed from the mother's blood into the womb.
Addicted to drugs?
@@peterpetrov4809 yes. The baby is connected through the umbilical cord and placenta with the blood of the mother. The baby gets oxygen and vitamins but also any drugs the mother uses. When the baby is born it has to go through withdrawl.

In my imagination, I would dance with Thomas F. Wilson (from the movies: Back to the future and the game Crash Bandicoot: The wrath of cortex) to this song. I have such a stupid disability that, among other things, means that I can not walk or stand on my own, and must have help all the time. So he gets to help me take the right dance steps to this song. That is the song that made me fell in love with the 80s, 16 years now and go on !!!! Endless love and illness !!!today is the first time i m watching the video clip ,because back then I could only heard it via cd !! Now i also realised that it was an omen of my future!! Right on time !!

Massimo Mein Bester ich Denke Immer An Dich Frieden Mit Dir 😢😢
First of all The Hooters, Eric Brazilian, Rob Hyman and the others, are very talented, great musicians & songwriters. They play and mix different music genres. For example do they not only typical 1980-ies synth pop, but put folk elements into it. This makes their sound unique. The Hooters have many great songs. On stage they sing and perform with passion and joy. With all that after 43 years (in 2023) one of the best live bands.
The Hooters are one of the best music band from 80's.

przepiękny kawałek:( mogłabym go słuchać cały czas!;)))
The lyrics of this song can be taken many ways. I always saw it as a friend trying to tell his best friend that the girl he's fallen for and is obsessed with is not good for him and is using him.
+Ray King for me its more of a heroin song, as johnny knows the heroin is bad but still buys it
+Marto Graves Both u & Ray could b right. If u simply listen 2 the song it could b a dude saying bros b4 hos to a friend that will fall in love and get his heart broken by a slut ho who'll cheat on him, but the vid is obviously about a junkie. Love the song becuz it is pop music, but it has some balls to it and a dark sort of feel. Sry 4 the abbrs I was on Twtiter b4 and only get 140 there.
I like songs that have somewhat vague lyrics. That way, whatever the original inspiration was, you can also find many parellel situations where they still make sense to you.
Isn't that the point with good lyrics, they can be interpreted many ways. That's also why many musicians are reluctant to discuss their lyrics, they don't want to ruin the experience for the listener.
For me its about two guys and one girl. And I would say that the second male person warn johnny B about this snake of a girl. The singer - or the person about - know that she uses him, but he don't see. Instead of this girl person three would wish for a chance from johnny, sounds for me like this :3
to my good friend Giannis who reminds us what kindness is
