  • Lawrence wrote "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom " afterwards and it presents his side of things in a very thoughtful way. I have read the book, seen the movie, and even noticed references to it in popular media over the years, namely in the Pink Panther episode "Pink Sphinx " and the comedy movie "The Hollywood Knights " where there's even a goofy song.... Lawrence went through a lot of bad times during that war, and he lived to see the people he wanted to help get royally screwed by the diplomats of his day. I admire his work and dedication to the good fight.

  • The Arabs actually did well enough to have a bartering chip years later. Whilst the French and British were busy repartitioning Ottoman lands into their own territory thru the Picot-Sykes Agreement, the bottom half of the subcontinent was left partially independent whereas the western powers only cared about the more lush Levant region. Unbeknownst to them, the lower half of the subcontinent was where it all kicked off and came back as a full circle. So just over there, there's 2 faction that was involved in the previous revolt but had stark contrast on how the future of the Arab world would be and that's the Husseins and the Sauds. Despite the dispute between authority of powers for both factions, even internally for the Husseins, things were not all rosy. The Husseins themselves had always seen themselves as a sort-of protector for all of the Arab world and thus the older Hussein wanted everything under one solid islamic caliphate but his sons wern't seeing it the same way thus both his sons, Faisal and Abdullah dealed with the British separately for concessions and it worked. Abdullah took power in Transjordan and formed the Emirate of Transjordan which would later become the Kingdom of Jordan which still rules the state now whereas Faisal would take power in Iraq after his failed coup in Syria against the French and made Iraq into the Kingdom of Iraq. With his sons done with, old Hussein, Ali, was not happy with the British intervention and pushed for more thus he made the Kingdom of Hejaz just to the west of the Arabian plains but the house of Sauds have other ideas. Thus in the early 20s, the Sauds launched a massive campaign to take out the Hejaz kingdom and solidify their powers in the region and they did. In 1925, they knocked out the Hashemites from Hejaz and claimed it under their own and formed the whole of the Saudi Arabia nation. With all that said, these became the bartering chips for years to come post-WWII even. Jordan became independent and the Hashemites/Husseins are still in power as we speak and even after the Arab Revolt, they were one of the few besides the Sauds who led their country without much foreign interference. Then the Iraqi Kingdom was also led by Faisal and gained independence too after WWII and did not fall till his son, Faisal II, got overthrown and executed in 1958. The house of Saud are still the ruling power in Saudi Arabia and they had all along gained independence after the revolt without much funfare thus you can say that despite on the outside that the revolt did much of nothing for the Arabs but in actuality, it did alot in the backrooms for future independence and actual arab rule. Yes it did mess up demographics especially with the Arab-Jew issue but when it comes to nationality, that was alot.

    @MrLolx2u@MrLolx2u2 ай бұрын
    • had to like your comment because I can not believe someone who wrote a paragraph this long and mentioned alot of details just has 1 like but yeah people forget to realize how the hashemites played a role in the arab world even after the arab revolt the sons of husayns did managed to rule their own kingdoms and abdullahs great grandson still rule to this day and at one point the ancestors of husayn nearly fulfilled his dream when Prince faisal the 2nd and Hussein of jordan nearly united their lands only for it to not happen after the coup led by Abd al-karim qasem
