When this whole rescue operation was being planned, I used to wonder what could be so difficult in getting people out of a flooded cave. Now that I have seen the 3D visuals, I can understand how much effort and planning had gone into the whole rescue ops and the selflessness shown by every single diver. Nothing but respect for the entire rescue team.
What the film Thirteen Lives. One of my favorite movies. Does a better job than this showing how crazy everything was

Not all heroes where a cape. Well done to the brave men . True living heroes ❤
some of them wearing scuba
They also wear air tank.
it is too far, only a scuba tank cannot support a whole trip. So, we need many men to lay a supply route. unfortunately, one marine die due to lack of oxygen.

They are the real life heroes.. Putting their own lives to save others.. Cant help but crying while watching.. Thank you so much
To see the accurate images of the cave, and to know that the cave divers somewhat successfully bring those boys back is giving me astonished feeling. Like it such a risky decision, they're trully incredible ❤ And rest in peace for Saman Kunan, you will be remembered.
What selfless heroes these rescuers are. Amazing.
Can't imagine diving under water for 5 hours , their last resort , sedating each boys was a mission impossible. Thanks God.
No joke, just looking at the 3D model makes me want to faint. I already know about this rescue, but seeing the accurate renders really puts the danger into perspective. Those hero divers were phenomenal!
Please keep drain the oceans going its the best national geographic series keep it u plz
Agreed!!!

You can't do that they need tough submarines like Cameron's submersible

Wow. This documentary is so underrated. Amazingly put together!
These divers doesn’t knows those kids but the divers gave their life for the kids and then they saved them all , these divers are the best and heroes. Thank you 🙏 for helping those kids
Yes yes and YES they are 🙏🏻🙌🏻🫰🏻🥰🤍
When someone sees these these cave divers in caves when there's no trouble one can short sightednly ask what they are up to until disaster strikes
RIP to the navy seal💔🕊
A hero without a crown
Truest of all Heros ! Amazing Person who will never be forgotten!
That diving anaesthesiologist was a crazy stroke of luck
Ingenuity* not luck
It’s amazing what humans can do
We are definitely fascinating creatures for aliens to observe
Ill never ever get tired of hearing this story and all the different documentaries that tie in different perspectives such artistry, physical skills, digitals skills and powerful storytelling. I once was religious and turned away from the church to seek God on my own terms. THIS coincidentally was the story that God spoke to me through. A religious place of worship happens to flood at the same time as 13 young boys happen to be caught in it. They SURVIVE and the truth behind it seems almost impossible to wrap around anyones head. The fact that all political conflict could halt just to save these boys. I am a staunch believer in science and yet only God's powerful hands could have made this be the case. The brave navy seal who lost his life in this pursuit did not die in vain. I truly believe God will reward him for his part in this.
Me too...tears every time😢😢
Thanks everyone who involved in the rescue. Truly amazing. ❤
It's amazing that Dr. Richard Harris, the cave diving anesthesiologist who was crucial to the sedation plan wasn't mentioned at all in this documentary. I know that different documentaries had access to different people involved in the rescue, so you don't see Richard Scranton and John Volanthen being interviewed here but you do see them being interviewed in the National Geographic film, The Rescue, but at least they were mentioned here. Dr. Harris was described by many as the lynch pin of the operation. And no, I'm not Australian.
Yeah, they did just kind of gloss over him.
Doctor Harry is my hero
Thank you on behalf of the entire Thai people who came to help children stuck in caves in Thailand even though you are not even Thai. Thank you to everyone around the world and various agencies. And I would like to express my condolences to the bereaved families who came to help the children out of the cave. 🙏🥺
I'm not crying 😭😭😭 I still remember how I felt that day, sad worried but praying that the boys would survive 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 really³ thankful for all those you gave their best effort and willingness to save the kids especially the divers ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you National Geographic for a lifetime full of spectacular movies. Thank you thank you thank you.
this was the best rescue ever, the most dramatic ever. Thanks to God for guiding the rescuers.
I think we all thought this would end badly. It’s a miracle all the children were safe. Thank you to the hero who lost their life helping. Thank you to everyone who participated in the rescue.
the dedication of these divers is absolutely astonishing! salute all of them and to all those good heart people helping this rescue operation.
This is absolutely the most insane documentary I’ve ever seen….my jaw was on the floor the entire time.
Uhummmm....they are all safe now...please pick up your jaws from the floor....God bless....life too short...but sometimes its exciting...
God bless to everyone who were involved in this rescue mission. Thank you National Geographic for this amazing video. I love Drain the Oceans 👏
RIP Saman Kunan, you gave your life for these kids. A true hero.
Drain the oceans is the best most interesting learning show I ever watch in my 40years of life, I’m so in to each and every episode that airs, that any professor can test me on multiple shows on one test and I would ace it gettn all answers correct 100% this is what life is about, all aspects of life coming together as humans should to help one another, not wars and death and food shortages 🙏🏾🙏🏾I pray for the Middle East and Ukraine 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Unbelievable crying and happy for them all. Praying for the family that had one diver that passed away.
My palms and feet were sweating watching this, I am so so glad that they went out alive and the divers that went for help risking their lives too were just beyond words amazing. Unfortunately, I thought this could go without any of them dying but, Lt Cdr Saman Gunan, your sacrifice will forever be remembered. 😔
You have to give glory to God that all made it out alive. May God bless the family of the fallen seal who lost his life in trying to save someone that he didn't even know. He went above & beyond the call of duty that day & put others before himself. R.I.P. Brave one. You will never be forgotten.
Those Divers all of them is a Hero. Great Job
Met vern unsworth and some of the other people helping for a school project in thailand! They were very kind and smart, I can see why the rescue was successful.
Salute to the divers who helped them get out of the cave. I was very touched by this story.
Who are all here after watching the movie 'manjummel boys'!!!!
Watch Rani ganj movie
This made me tense watching it from the start. Rip one of navy seal. you all are amazing, I'm so amazed 🙏🏻
I just watched this since I remembered the news way back and am still teary eyed glad that everyone was rescued safe. We thank all those people who risked their lives for these precious souls.
On his initial rescue dive, Chris Jewels experienced discomfort diving with a child through that particular spot at 38:15 , prompting him to hand over the responsibility to a support diver. Regrettably, this was disregarded by the leadership. During his third and final rescue dive, Chris once again faced serious problems at the very same spot. This time, it was Dr. Richard Harris who intervened and took over the child from him, ultimately saving the day.
This is "taking chances" in an impossible level. Natgeo gives us whole new things to view things
The care that these rescuers took... the stress their bodies endured... Just stunning.
I have never been so tensed while watching something, its soo catchy and emotional kudos to the rescue team. you deserve the world.
And it happened in the middle of COVID. The world and nations came together to help. This was an example of how human beings should be living. ❤✌️😇
the thai cave rescue happened in june-july 2018. that was 2 years before COVID, which happened in 2020.

Everyone please watch Manjummel Boys. Trust me yall gonna love the story it’s something related to this. A group of friends go for a trip and went exploring a cave and one of the friends…
I'm currently living in Chiang Rai for education purpose and went to visit the cave without knowing anything about this story. I heard some people talking about it when I was passing by and I searched it on YT. Here this is still a magical experience after 6 years which actually deserves another 5 years and more. 👏👏👏

Kudos & infinite respect to all the heroes who took part in this rescue.
I kinda knew the story from the news years ago, but after viewing this full episode made me understand completely how difficult the situations were. Feel sad for former Thai navy seal Saman Gunan who devoted his life to the operation. God bless all the rescue divers and all the crew who worked so hard to get the boys out. It was such a beautiful scene when humanity united. It was such a heart-touching story. It was indeed a true miracle.
