The Washington Capitals had more of a push in Game 2 as tempers and physicality increased but The Blueshirts were able to close the door late in the 3rd to secure a 2-0 series lead. Igor Shesterkin had 22 saves and both Mika Zibanejad and Vincent Trocheck had a goal and an assist in the win. The series goes to Washington for games three on Friday night.

Friday's game is where the series really starts. Game 1 went about how we expected, game 2 we expected some push back from the Caps and got exactly that. This team will have to put themselves in a position to sweep on Friday if they want to avoid what happened in their past 2 series

Stop being a homer. There were actually more penalties called on the Caps. They also called then rescinded the penalty against Panarin and gave the Rangers a man advantage. Were there questionable calls? Absolutely but it was for both sides.
@velvetbikes There were blatant Tim Peel equalizer penalties called in that game. As well egregious no calls that got the ESPN broadcasters calling the refs out. These shenanigans by the refs hurt the integrity of the game.

Hate to be the fly in the ointment here but despite the win, that they struggled against this team is pretty alarming. The Capitals are pretty bad, actually really bad, and they hung on to barely beat them.
Caps are still an NHL team that made the playoffs. I get what you are saying but these series are always close.
That makes no sense. If you think every game to the cup is pretty and easy against ANY team is normal your hockey IQ is extremely low
That's one way to look at it. Another way is what Hank said at the outset - that winning a close game might be better for the team than winning a blowout.
