  • Interestingly, despite all the disappointment over the second place finish to ROC in the team final, the USA medaled in every single event in women's gymnastics which didn't happen in 2008, 2012, or 2016. Simone didn't have the Olympics many of us hoped for, but the team medaling in every event is a success. In 2008, the USA didn't medal on vault (Alicia Sacramone placed 4th).

    • I thought they did in 2016 too…?? Madison Kocian got a silver medal on bars, Laurie and Simone medaled on beam, AA Simone and Aly got gold and silver, Simone won gold on vault, Simone and Aly medaled on floor, and they all got gold for the team final. I’m confused lol!

Yes Suni is the future but that shouldn't discredit Simone's effort at all. We should fully support all of them because they did their best even if they weren't fully at their best and I'll admit Simone wasn't at her best. Let's be honest she was getting spanked in the team challenge and it seem like there was no recovery from that beating. Coming up with a mental health excuse to quit after "Choking" on her first vault is called a cover up to her bad performance. That's all it was....many people were fooled. Not so much others

    • @Bruce Powell I don't think she's a hero for quitting or her "openness" about her mental state. All athletes go through that, but I hand it to her for pulling herself together enough to win a medal. I'd respect her more if she hadn't made such a public fuss about losing her focus (see above, all athletes). Part of being a great athlete is maintaining your psych--it separates the greats from the could-have-beens. My niece did figure skating when she was in her teens and used to train at the same facility as a girl who "could have been" one of the greatest ever,, but she never was able to conquer her nerves so she's not a household name. I think Biles started believing her own pr and lost her concentration. Also she's 25 (?) and that's like 50 in sports.

    • Two gymnasts did better on the beam. There is no shame in coming in third to the two Chinese gymnasts. They were excellent!

    • She had WAY more pressure than the other gymnasts given her highly decorated status. She was going to be scored lower by judges for being "too good" and because they "wanted to give other gymnasts a fair chance". All eyes were on her before the Olympics began.

So give her a break ok and just appreciate her for her ability and strength to deal with her mental health problems and pray 🙏 for her. God Bless you Simone 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

  • The Olympic scoring should reflect Biles 4 best events. She won Bronze in Balance in 2016 its not her strongest event. She is much stronger in events that she can take advantage of her speed and power. she's so powerful and fast I'd never want her to do events when she has no clue where she is in the air. she's not Olga Korbut, Nadia from the slow turd , non-muscular leg days.. All these hating white guys, I'd love to cattle prod them to do the bars until they are capable of competing against these girls.
