I think the most unrealistic part of the whole video is Todd Howard as a game tester. Everyone knows Bethesda doesn't test their games, that's what their player base is for

Spiff if you haven’t played since the ideology update you really should. On top of the normal organ harvesting you can create a religion based around cannibalism, pain, slavery and drugs that doesn’t care about what happens to prisoners.

I feel like the psychic lance, while it occasionally sets people on fire, is more humane.
Just to make clear what is happening: the game has a scale of how many people you are supposed to have in your colony - both colonists and prisoners - at this level of wealth. If you exceed this number, the "instakill" mechanic kicks in, making it so a downed enemy, regardless of the lethality of weapon used, is killed instead with a pretty high probability. If you don't like it - you can use custom storyteller difficulty and adjust the instakill probability slider all the way to 0.

In fairness, rimworld content in general isn't family friendly. I'll have to go grab 1d2's most recent rimworld video to show you just a small segment of the dark side of rimworld.
Rimworld is by nature not family friendly. You either end up mass murdering, enslaving, organ harvesting, or drug producing at least once in a playthrough. Not to mention cannibalising. Btw in my current game, both my cats and both my dogs got literal blackout drunk on alcohol. One cat got liver cancer, the other got brain damage. One of the dogs was pregnant :/ The liver cancer cat is now an alcoholic.
I dunno, EVERYONE I've seen play Rimworld does this. Literally everyone.

sounds like someone harvested most of their brain.
Imagine being in a prison where the guards referred to you as organ donor.

This is actually an accurate simulation of why poaching happens especially in elephants you could take them and use them for labor but they have to be trained and they cost a lot to keep but if you just kill it you can harvest it’s parts and sell it for much more

in vanilla rimworld there is a 60% or something chance of non colonists to instantly die from the knockout blow it's in order to balance recruiting too easily you can always make a nice hat and soilent green for your prisoners :)

@@a-blivvy-yus I think a "better" way to balance it would probably be to have downed enemies get a permanent wound instead at least that would be more realistic and the constant pain debuff makes it a fair tradeoff because those can be really nasty

There were about two brief instances of organs being harvested and only multiple brief mentions throughout the entirety of the rest of the video. There was very little harvesting for the length of the video.

In one of my RimWorld games, I used to kidnap all of the survivors who raided my base. I would harvest all of their organs except for one. I would only harvest one of his kidneys, decapitate his legs, and replace his legs with wooden stumps. I would then set him free to go back to his home as a warning.

Careful planning or somesuch. Allows you to edit all parts of your settles
You can edit the story tellers to force traits on your colonists , npcs or everyone. So you can make the whole world cannibal , psychopath etc. You can also increase the trait slots characters have so if you force those 2 traits you can make it so that everyone has at least 3 traits and max 5 traits where 2 of them becomes psychopath and cannibal etc..
my ascetic cannibal is really enjoying life out on the ice sheet, he's got transport pod crashes every day so some nice raw human meat xD also he's got a few lady friends with him...both of which I think are incapable of violence
Theirs a few that make harvesting either a very small negative or even a buff I run a death cult and they love having visitors...the irony is the empire loves us because we only ever mess with their enemies
