#minecraft #minecraftsoundtrack #121
Precipice seems straight out of calamity lmao
It does!
I think it may be for the trial chambers
In any other game I would expect it to be an amazing boss theme. Minecraft only has two (flawed) bosses which were released over a decade ago (the Wither came in 2012 WTF!). I have genuinely no idea how the new Mojang team would handle boss design with their current design philosophy. It would be amazing to fight some kind of wind creature or construction with this in the background. Precipice and Creator both have this feeling as if some kind of artistic expression has brought something to life. This idea generally fits the theme of tinkering, machinery, combat and exploration of the update. I am not holding high expectations for a boss to be added in this massive update, but it would be amazing. If this song would be one of the three discs, I will hunt it down at the first opportunity I get. I love it.
Calamity? As in Gannon? Or Terraria Calamity Mod?
Yea
11:46 Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS.
For years, monsters have been sealed away by a powerful spell. A spell that could only be broken with seven human SOULs. Their king was peaceful and wished to avoid any more conflict. . . But eventually declared that any human who fell. . . Would die. . . . . . Mt. Ebott. . . Few humans have braved this mountain. Those who did. . . were never seen again.

That change in vibe from Precipice to Yakusoku is wild
I love Lena’s work on Minecraft. But Aaron Cherof is the first composer since C418 to truly capture the peaceful emptiness of Minecraft. Featherfall in particular is so pretty.
I absolutely love how Aaron has blended the Lena and C418 feel together. I love both C418, and Lena’s pieces in the game and they both fit very well, but have always felt very separate of each other. Aaron is filling that gap and blending them

i hate how aaron cherof is not being mentioned enough, one of the best ppl to have ever composed for minecraft imo i loved every single track he made for 1.20
He’s underrated
I love his stuff as well, but I think Lena Raine captures the C418 Minecraft vibe better overall and is maybe more liked because of it. Honestly though it's great that we get different composers and slightly different styles from each.
I guess I mean to say his stuff feels more "typical" of a video game, I think Lena Raine's music has more of the weird slightly unnerving feel to it that I associate more with Minecraft. Both are really nice though.
@@Gallopstar aaron cherof was a big change of pace for me, i can see what you mean but i think we've reached the point where the music of minecraft isnt based off of C418 anymore.. now it isnt just eerie tranquility, its full of adventure and wonder... and i think every composer working for minecraft is doing an amazing job at it

I found a small detail: the beginning of Precipice is very, and I mean VERY, similar to the beginning of the song "Battle Against A True Hero" from Undertale. Here are the similarities: 1) main melody (the loop part is almost identical to the one from Undertale) 2) after exactly 2 repetitions of the main part, the melody thickens with the sounds of a ticking clock and some synths (also very similar to Undertale, except that Undertale uses choir and vocal sounds instead of synths) 3) And finally, after exactly 6 repetitions of the main melody, the drop follows. To be clear: I'm not accusing Aaron Cherof of copying, because it's most likely just a coincidence. I just thought it was worth mentioning.
I knew it reminded me of undertale!!
wow. the same leitmotif is also used in Amalgam, BIG SHOT (heard faintly in the left ear when the "Freedom" leitmotif plays), and Power of NEO (Waterfall, Another Medium and CORE might use the leitmotif too? i'm not sure if it's just vaguely similar of if it's meant to be the same leitmotif.)
Coincidentally, in the song "Puzzlebox" I can somehow hear the main theme of Undertale.
In the song eld unknown at the end, the xylophone or other similar instrument's chord progression is [*EXTREMELY*] similar to stickerbrush symphony
This is why I like this music!
Best parts of each song: 2:19 Endless 8:01 Deeper 13:35 Watcher 20:10 Eld Unknown 25:51 Featherfall 29:30 Precipice 35:23 Yukasuko 40:57 Pokopoko 43:54 Komorebi 50:24 Puzzlebox 53:01 Creator 54:33 Creator (Music Box Version)

I like the new direction Minecraft's music is goin in a lot now.
Classic and Modern hit different
C418's original soundtracks along with new parts made by new artists makes it feel like minecraft's tone is becoming less lonely. Different perspectives and styles are expressed by each artist and their style. I think i like it, even if it changes the tone of minecraft too.
Every update you see people complaining that minecraft is loosing its aesthetic. I think if you look back, its true, minecraft has changed a lot, but I feel like it has been doing a great job at refining its identity. It may not be at the same place it started, but it has remained true to its spirit and direction, even if that means evolving a bit. Change is not inherently bad, and I think they have been doing great, especially with music and art style. The way the new block textures fit together and compliment each other is masterful, and that kind of care for aesthetics was just not present long ago when the game was just a few programmers. Same with music. I love seeing some tracks that absolutely call back to C418's soundtrack is amazing, but the new tracks these artists are creating feels new yet transmits minecraft's feel perfectly. There are some more intense tracks in this batch, but I think it might be reserved for disks or for trial chambers.
I will admit a lot of these tracks actually do sound more Minecraft-y than previous update’s newer tracks. There’s just a couple absolutely crazy ones in here too lmao
I have to disagree, for some reason I hate most of theses, they seem so out of character to the game, only 2 to me REALLY match the gane
If there's any change and evolution they are especially doing great at; music and art style are absolutely not one of them. I can point out several instances of them breaking their very own publicly-spoken rule about their art direction recently (and no, I'm not talking about the new animations), or the fact that the music they put out actively drowns out the older ones and put them in scenarios that doesn't even make sense like the menu.
I have to agree, the way they force out the old music puts a bad taste in my mouth, instead of YOU focused music, it’s world focused, only certain music based for certain biomes defeats what c418 had going for it, being you focused makes the game itself more personal rather then world focused
@@stephanieholland7137Agreed. The tone C418 created isn't something they're really interested in pursuing anymore. Minecraft is becoming increasingly lively and childlike, which is what it is. I can appreciate the new features as long as we still have the ability to go back to previous versions of Java edition that do have that tone.
Precipice sound CRAZY, what kind of event would this song be for?!? 🔥🔥🔥

@@seasoraasad because I thought we would fight in the trial chamber and here this
While it’s probably gonna be a disc, it would be neat if this played when ominous trials were activated.
Precipice put me off guard, but it doesn’t quite feel like it would be in a music disk, it would be cool if this theme plays sometimes when trial spawners are active.
something bigger
@@mrworld1645 were going to need a bigger boat ⛵
I don't think they would make it a ominous trial theme, considering minecraft's open ended nature, it's not impossible for such a track to be inappropriate. Imagine making an ominous trial farm and hearing upbeat music blast from your speakers constantly for 5 seconds before leaving, constantly. would suck
@@enderallygolem you’re right
Creator really hits different!! 🎧🗿🔥
My first impressions/review of each song (note that these are essentially my real time reactions): Endless - Lena Raine: This is very obviously meant to be related to Infinite Amethyst, with the connection between the words Endless and Infinite, the similar style and instrumentation, it even quotes the melody in a very significant way at 2:10. I'm also hearing the beautiful, emotional chord progressions of 1.19, while avoiding my biggest problem that those songs get way too loud. But this was a very good first impression of 1.21's music. Deeper - Lena Raine: It immediately reminded me of One More Day with the really heavy reverb on the piano. The "drop" turns into a beautiful and laid-back soundscape, I'm hearing more hints of Infinite Amethyst and more interestingly, the second half of Danny by C418. I do worry that this will be too loud in-game but this song sets up an excellent mood. I wonder if this is a Nether song - the name could be a reference to "We Need to Go Deeper" and the level of percussion fits in with the other Nether tracks. Watcher - Aaron Cherof: This one is really interesting to listen to. It is primarily a piano solo and I like the background noises, it sounds like the person playing is shifting on the piano bench, and despite the electronic sound it gives the feeling of a live performance that is very personal. Also, despite the simple instrumentation, there is always a lot going on harmonically, compared to the other more minimalist tracks in the game. The change in mood at 15:24 hits really hard and is my favorite part of the song. Eld Unknown - Lena Raine: This one starts off at a surprisingly high intensity and is giving me really strong Celeste vibes. 19:32 is such a unique sound, 20:10 sounds like its from Donkey Kong Country more than Minecraft. I think it is a great track but I'm wondering where this song will play? Eld Unknown is such a weird name, and I think this is the most likely candidate for the 3rd music disc (Precipice and Creator are pretty obvious). FeatherFall - Aaron Cherof: The name fits perfectly even hearing the first 3 seconds. This sounds very much like it is trying to fit a specific biome, but I can't tell exactly what. Maybe snow? The bell sounding melodic percussion instrument especially fits that. In my mind I'm picturing a sunrise over a vast, open area. The second third sounds a bit too much like a pop song, but I think it still works well. Precipice - Aaron Cherof: EDM??? IN MINECRAFT??? I would have never expected to hear this, its definitely a music disc but this is an even bigger departure from the norm than Pigstep was! The fill at 29:36 is INSANE! It also uses a lot of distortion in really cool ways, as an EDM producer this is really cool to listen to. But it is insane that a song like this is in the game at all! I need to hear this a lot before I can even compare it to the other songs in the game. Yakusoku - Kumi Tanioka: The name means Promise in Japanese. It's funny listening to this immediately after Precipice. This also has heavy winter vibes, and the same thoughtful quality that Tanioka's 1.18 tracks have. But if 35:18 isn't snow biome music, then idk what is. The outro at 36:26 is also amazingly beautiful and emotional. Pokopoko - Kumi Tanioka: Another wintery track, although according to Minecraft's game mechanics the rain in the background wouldn't make sense. But, maybe this is music meant specifically for when it's raining? I think that would be perfect and I'm very confident that is what this track is meant for. I also thought this song looped at first, but while it sort of sounds like it the second half is definitely different. Also, idk what the name means. Komorebi - Kumi Tanioka: Japanese for Sunlight Filtering Through the Trees - I think that gives away a lot, and definitely fits as some sort of forest biome music. The name makes me immediately think of the updated birch forest concept art, and the dark oak forest biome. At 44:04 there is a direct quote of Comforting Memories, another track by Kumi Tanioka which is really cool. Puzzlebox - Aaron Cherof: I'm sure this has to do with the "Tinkering" aspect of 1.21 that Mojang always talks about. The first thing this makes me think of is Biome Fest by C418 - could this be a creative theme? It develops in a similar way to the C418 creative tracks, a slow build in intensity from starting off ambient and eventually becoming a melodic soundscape. This fits right in with Volume Beta. Creator - Lena Raine: This is also definitely a music disc, and while not quite as much of a shift in style as Precipice, it is still far removed from the other discs. IS WHAT I WOULD SAY IF 52:59 DIDN'T HAPPEN?! It really sounds like a Halloween song, with an electric guitar for melody and an accordion for the bass?? Creator (Music Box Version) - Lena Raine: I wonder what the purpose of this is. Maybe this is the disc and the normal version is exclusive to the OST, maybe it's the other way around? It sounds great though. OVERALL THOUGHTS I never would have expected 12 (11.5) tracks in such a relatively small update content-wise. 2 music discs with insane shifts in style with a 3rd that is probably Eld Unknown, potential snow biome music, nether music, rain music, and even creative music? No matter what, these are some of the best new songs added to Minecraft recently and legitimately is a highlight of this update. Update: On the official soundtrack, the music box version of Creator is at the end before Precipice and after Creator, so it is probably the third disc
pokopoko is onomatopoeia! it's a rhythmic drumming sound, against the ambient strings it features a lot of metallic percussive instruments like bells, steel drums, glockenspiel, etc which i would assume to be the pokopoko in question. Which I think fits well for evoking the sound of raindrops, so I'm with you on it being a rain song!
@@CaptainHarrie Oh that's awesome!

For Eld Unknown's name, Eld is Swedish for fire, so maybe there's something in that?

This is my favourite soundtrack drop since volume beta. So many of these are fantastic and really nail the theme of 'tinkering' with the machine and metal sounds. The ending of 'Watcher' is really haunting and atmospheric; it's not explicitly menacing but really gets across the whole 'fear of being alone'. 'Eld Unknown' has some nice harmonic choices and cool reverb - sounds like a mix of Ori and Celeste. 'Precipice' is absolutely awesome, but I'm hoping it's either a disc or exclusive to the trial chambers because it's a bit too busy for the regular mix imo.

We're probably getting it at some point. I mean, They just added new 5 brand new cave sounds to the existing 19 and new 5 new painting recently (including the disc) which probably means they're looking to expand on all the past features that haven't been received an update for a while now
@@msiioWait when did they add new cave sounds?
pokopoko reminds me of miphas theme from botw edit: a lotta the tracks remind me of botw/totk
I raved on multiple times about Precipice, but I'm so stuck on Watcher now. Its so beautiful. Its all amazing honestly.
I won't be surprised if we see Aaron Cherof credited on the latter deltarune chapters, maybe even 3 & 4. Toby knows Lena, maybe she recommended Aaron to him.
I love Creator, it has the feel of both the old console minigame songs and building a big redstone contraption
I don’t understand why people think this music is garbage, it’s amazing. Y’all have been blinded by nostalgia and refuse to accept the newer songs
The new team really adapting to the Minecraft music style, I'm so excited to see their future OSTs
I love the music, it reminds me of old minecraft and gives me the minecraft feel.
Puzzle box is awesome! Reminds me of c418
Quite a few of them remind me of c418. And then there’s a few like precipice which are absolutely crazy lmao
If I didn't know Puzzlebox wasn't a Volume Beta creative track, you would have me convinced
Wow, I love Creator! It sounds like some kind of sea shanty and I love it. I also like how Endless sounds like a continuation of Infinite Amethyst.
I can already see Precipice becoming the new favorite to play on servers.
Endless 😢... I love these new tracks, they're amazing
Precipice won the award for best soundtrack of 1.21
NO WAY ONE OF THEM IS CALLED "WATCHER" THE HERMITCRAFT FANDOM IS GOING WILD WITH THIS ONE BOYS edit: AND ONE NAMED FEATHERFALL OMG
Endless is just SO Minecraft, I love it UwU
27:53 Hearing the music fills you with DETERMINATION
32:13 I'm Wing Gaster! The royal cientist
Please tell me you saw my meme on deltacord
51:39 is halloweeny and I love it!!
3 minutes into endless and i just realized it’s a rendition of C418’s - Mutation i got goosebumps when i realized edit: apparently Mutation is a remix of the song titled “Minecraft” either way, Endless is a rendition of them edit 2: apparently Endless is a rendition of Infinite amethyst, which is a rendition of Mutation and Minecraft
Precipice is really giving final main story battle of a Pokemon game vibes.
I love Watcher includes the melody of Echo in the wind. what a amazing song
Creator is... Perfection
32:13 THAT IS GASTER'S THEME
this is so good that i lisned to this soundtrack when i was playing universe sandbox
bro gathered all the songs and threw them into a vid the second they released. cool
Absolute bangers here

Precipice and Creator don't fit Minecraft at all, especially Precipice. I know don't who let Aaron cook Precipice, but they are my opp.
They are garbage 😂
@@el_gatoNegro I didnt mean just those two, but ye I see what you mean.
I think if the music was released with snapshots, we’d get more of a vibe with the update. That’s part of what made the Nether Update so special. I miss the feeling the Nether Update brought. The update doesn’t feel as “tinkery” to me as I hoped. Maybe it’s the lack of mobs that have personally like the Piglins.
This update still outmatches both cliffs and caves and trails and tales
The Nether also has far less tracks in the game in the first place, only having 4 before the Nether Update. And so more room to easily put them for the vibes.
I miss how they use to do it. I enjoyed the long yearly updates, and the hype Minecon Live had. Short constant updates should be for bug fixes only in my opinion.
I think that's just the nether update changing more of the game. This update adds a ridiculous amount of depth to the trial chambers, and that's not a bad thing at all, but an update primarily focused on 1 structure probably won't ever feel as "big" as an update that reworks a whole dimension
слышно то как лена вдохновляется c418, его влияние просто невероятно
Creator is such a jam, it reminds me of a Series of Unfortunate Events.
