This film doesn't do justice to the story of the Silk Road. Ross did not go to jail for Hollywood to mess up his story.

I love how in this trailer, he is showing friends how much he is making, when in reality, Ross Ulbricht didn't tell anyone, except his girlfriend and an old college room mate, because he needed help coding. He was completely reclusive and his only friends were a couple of his staff on the website. Think I will pass.

He kept a diary/journal that the writer/director was able to read. The writer/director Tiller Russell was on the Joe Rogan podcast and explains everything. This movie hits everything in the story right on!

Fun fact: I worked in the prison the creator of the actual Silk Road was housed in. He’s not allowed anywhere near computers. (Most inmates are given regular access)

They skipped all the stuff about him blatantly taunting them to catch him and how they actually caught him. Some very old thread (actually connected to his “name”) where he mentions wanting an email address, dress pirate Roberts. Buried away on some forum otherwise they would never have caught this man….
If you know the real story and have read about the real people this will look like the Tropic Thunder version.

The cast looks pretty strong...Jason Clarke and Jimmi Simpson have leading role energy and will definitely get the limelight sooner or later. But definitely a great platform for the up and coming cast as well.

Their 1st mistake was not casting Robert Pattinson as Ross Ulbricht. Their 2nd mistake was trying to make this epic story into an hour and a half movie.

This reminded me when I visited the Silk road site in 2012. Although it was closed in 2013, there are many other sites that steal the Silk road brand, such as a site called Goana Market, which is a bad copy of the Silk road imitation on the dark web, and there are many others This sad

That show was inspired by this story although the show is probably a bit more dramatised in what it depicts In order to make a show and not a movie. The world of underground drug dealers in irl is actually quite boring since all criminals look for smooth business and not conflict.

Why is Silk Road a 2021 thriller movie from Lionsgate, Fandango?
Thought it was better than the trailer makes it look, but not by much. The internet/tech stuff were incredibly oversimplified, and yet the plot still managed to get confusing at times because the storytelling was that bad. The main character (and his girlfriend) was incredibly annoying and I never cared what happened to him at any point, but Jason Clarke's character as the investigator was kind of interesting at least.
Omg I saw this movie already and it was pretty good.

Clearly not, this is mostly fantasy I know a lot about this story and Ross was just a chill guy doing it in secret probably smoking weed not worrying about feds since he didn't think he could get caught but the Feds basically hacked and used illegal tactics to find out who he was and use BS charges to lock him up like they originally tried to make him look like he hired hitman and people still believe that And Ross didn't have two friends he knew, well to our knowledge but he wouldn't need others knowing and he wouldn't risk it
