I'm so grateful From The Basement, Tiny Desk, and KEXP are doing what MTV hasn't done in 30 years. It's good for music. It's good for the world. Thank you.
WORD UP!!!
ABSOLUTELY!!!
You have taken the “remember when MTV used to play music?” comment to a new level

Warpaint forever!
I've enjoyed every minute of the 20 years with you wonderful ladies. Thank you for your music.
Stella Mozgawa is one of the most underrated drummers in modern drumming.
Underrated comment. She is amongst my favorite drummers ever. She’s got awesome groove..
Agreed 100%.
Really reminds me of phillip selway… but thats a guitarists perspective! Lmao. To me, she molds my two fav drummers together: Selway and Jason McGer from Death Cab for Cutie.
@@dominodd3879 exactly! That a wonderful example!.. I think “in limbo” off of kid a album is a great showcase of his groove.
Clear from the first time I saw her perform with them that she'd elevate Warpaint from 'good' to 'great'. She reminds me of Reni, thinking outside the box, swinging.
Such a great group. Just when you think Stella's drumming can't get any tastier...dang. World class.
Most underrated rhythm section in modern rock. Stella and Jenny Lee are so damn good.
so true this pair is awful good
Will there ever be any song without those comments about underrateness??? They are great band and they are alternative music. I dont care about their rating. Probably they dont too. Just keep on doing it girls.
@@markozeko7539 I'm sorry my comment bothered you. When I say "underrated" I mean it figuratively. I'm not petitioning for them to be included on some tier list or something. I just think they're really good and more people should know about them.
she is highly respected among musicians.
12 years later, still have have goosebumps watching Jenny play.
I get a bump watching her play too
lady is a stone cold savage!
Petition for part 2, 3, 4 and 5
“No matter how old you get, trains are still cool” is my new favorite Warpaint song.
✨train vibesssss✨
Amazing! You Ladies make a real great Music. Good to have them on this planet right now.
seems the case, now listen where’s my Cheerios!
self feels next level, idk never heart of them till now
the bass and drums on this band are underrated.
Jenny's bass tone is so beautiful. I fell in love with it in 2014 and I'm still in love with it to this day.
I dont think someone can under rate that.
I've been playing drums for almost 30 years and sat here in awe of the rhythm section. I'm straight humbled by this set.
Definitely! Jenny Lee is sooo cool!
"Understated", I believe you mean! 😉 Everyone in the loop knows that this is the best rhythm section working in music today...
Stella is a wonderful drummer. Nick Cave said so. So there!
Exactly my thoughts. She is so great.
Jenny is such an underrated bassist. She is incredible. Great taste on notes. Effortlessly in the pocket with Stella.
PREACH. this video is my first exposure to this band, and on my first time through I didn’t care unless Jenny was playing right then.
Her sound is also immediately recognizable
@@chadgifford499 her tone is now how i want to sound.
Well said sir!
Who underrates her? From what I’ve seen she’s a universally liked, admired and respected bass player. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything to suggest she’s underrated.
Stella being one of the most creative and solid rock drummers nowadays
that rhythm section is sublime
true
Man - some bands knock you out with a hammer. Warpaint knocks you out with a feather. So much space between the four of them, but all the parts fit so well.
good observation and so well worded. I think Warpaint fans should coin the phrase "blunt force feather trauma." It's a paradox that seems so natural.
The Basement, KEXP, and Tiny Desk are my source of happiness that other platforms couldn't
Hard To Tell You live version is soooooooooooooo good, it made me cry. soo beautiful
It always amazes me how well they complement each other. It's like Emily is the melody, Theresa is the harmony, Jenny Lee is the rhythm, Stella is the glue that holds it all together.
Stella is so amazing
this was seriously MAGICAL. Emily's vocal performance on Hard To Tell You gave me chills.
Great song
She really perfected that song during their tour. It's so tricky to sing with lots of long high sustained notes, but holy shit it feels so effortless for Emily now.
I literally cried
Angelic vocal ability
Sitting here with all the hairs on my arms standing up. So beautiful. Insane performance
The best thing about youtube is you can watch these women over their long careers....they've done things right, in my opinion.
Stella's playing is right in between genius and practicality ... and that is her genius
YES
I can't fathom how anyone can be that co-ordinated....to the point where all 4 limbs are independent of each other. I have trouble doing that thing where you pat your head and rub circles on your stomach, but being able to see her precision and expertise from some great camera angles that you'd never normally see when a drummer is at the back of the stage, is such a great insight into how she is constantly switching it up and being inventive with every fill, every little triplet. Mindblowing to be able to watch so closely.
@@2ndMOUSEofficial ❤
So glad to see all the love for Stella in the comments including from people hearing Warpaint for the first time. Not to ignore the rest of the band at all. They really are a perfect harmonious unit. I saw them a few months ago in Dublin and honestly wish I could go see them 2 or 3 times a year every year.
I have never seen them live but would love to. I first heard them here like 9yrs ago. They did love is to die an I feel in love
No way..totally missed that one didn't hear about where did they play in Dublin
@debee1544 They played the National Stadium back in May last year, which is longer ago than I realised! I saw them in Vicar St when they toured the 3rd album and in Tripod back around the time of the first album. I really wish they would play here more often though!
A rare example of a guitar band that has evolved their sound without putting down their guitars. So subtle, so much attention to groove.
On Point
The engineers have done a spectacular job. Sounds mint. Blessings from London.
Well, that's the genius of Nigel Godrich for you.
Em and T harmonising at 12:45 is so beautiful
I can't believe the original "warpaint" sound is still there... after 6 years, they're REALLY here! A lot have changed, we have another mommy in the band! The sound hits you from the 1st song of the album! When I herd it for the 1st time, I was doing some computer hardware stuff I think, and at minute 3:32 I remember my self leaving what I was doing and rush in front of the speakers turning the volume up... and then comes the echos, and that continues bass from Jenny and the sound gets bigger and bigger until you become 1 with the space and universe... I closed my eyes, and thats where I was, swear I was sober too!
Who is the new Mom?! Is the baby the one showing up at the opening?
@@Milklatte Emily had a baby in 2020. That’s her little girl in the beginning.
Is it just me or has Emily's vocals leveled up big time? Liking the new sound from this band
Big time!! They sound better than ever!
Yeah sounding mature, confident and wonderful. She is a champ
It's also very helpful when an engineer knows the best way to EQ your voice. I've never heard their vocals sound so great .... no grating frequencies in the mix. But yeah .... she's actually singing even better as well. anyway kudos to nigel, and of course, to this great band.
@@racializedkanadian totally agree it is a perfect mix.
oof, such a condescending tone for an expression of appreciation
Saw the trailer, never heard of them so I clicked on another video, didn't like it. Saw the notification and thought. " why not ? " - so glad I came back ! A testament to the musicians and the FTB crew.
Four of the coolest people to ever be in a band together. Such great musicians, such wonderful chemistry.
One of the best rhythm sections on Earth right now.
Good ass drumming. Drum sound is on point too
Isn't Emily the MOST BEAUTIFUL singer ever? What a sweet voice she's got. The whole set was sublime!!
Strange comment. Would you post this if it was a dude? Not sure how her looks are relevant. She’s an awesome musician that’s what counts.
I think he’s talking about her beautiful voice duh 😂
Normally I lock in on Stella's and Jenny's work. But I am obsessed with "Hard to Tell You" and Emily's vocals. Her work on that song is beyond stunning. Watching her expressions and movements gives it even more meaning and feeling. The entire set is great, but that one song is soul-wrenchingly glorious.
Thank you so much Warpaint and From The Basement for this! Fantastic! I am 66 years old and these girls are the music of my soul. I love them so much and they keep getting better! Please girls, never stop making music. You are brilliant stars in the sky! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The rhythm squad with this band has got me in awe. Stella and Jenny Lee are laying out the tightest, funkiest swing-ingest grooves of any band nowadays IMHO....
I can't believe how good this is, they've mastered that deep, strong, detailed sound.
I’m 56-yo and an unabashed Stan. They are such a mood. Great musicians that compliment each other so, so well. When the music - and the performance, for that matter - sounds this good, it makes the wait between releases worth every minute. ❤️
Their cohesiveness is pure gold ✨
A lot of bands, even *good bands*, could grind for days in studio track by track and not get takes this clean. This set is truly something special.
I'm 48 and heard a crap-ton of music in every genre from baroque pop to nu metal to just plain baroque. This band can cross genres and compete with most anyone even if the genre isn't their strong point. Psychedelic jazzy jams, R&B, hints of trip hop, raggae, blues, , plain hip hop, prog rock, art rock, dream pop (shrimp gumbo, shrimp scampi...). Diverse, versatile, dreamy, and keeping me from getting my work done right now.
nothing better than hearing new music, and realizing it's quality stuff in the first 9 seconds.
Such a rare experience nowadays.
@@thetroutconjurer totally agree
Like good wine.
From the Basement to Heaven! :3
How are they just the most amazing band ever 😭 I've been listening to them for 12 years now & they have never disappointed 💛
HOLY SHIT THE FOOL CAME OUT 12 YEARS AGO.
Stella is a machine! Love you all, girls. Thanks for making this happen.
*I wanna open a bar just to have them play there several times a year.*
On my 3rd listen and must comment on how strong Emily’s vocals have gotten the last few years. Very underrated vocalist in general, but also an underrated member of the band. I’m glad to see her finally get recognized for her talent. She sounds incredible. That said, the entire band is really locked in. Just saw them this past weekend and it’s the best they’ve ever sounded and that’s saying a lot, it was my 15th show!
wow, 15 is really something. and I agree, Emily sounds great (seen them in may) and probably better then ever
@@imperthnthn Before Warpaint she had a band called "Little Twos". Check it out.

hard to tell you, bees and melting are so beautifully arranged here 💜💜💜 thank you girls for still being here..for still creating and sharing your music with us. you're my daily soundtrack 💜
JESUS CHRIST! ITS MY FAVORITE BAND AFTER 1 LISTENING!
This is awesome! As much as I love their albums, they don’t quite capture the magic they radiate in live performances. Such a criminally underrated band.
I can attest to this after seeing them live in Philly!
@@lindamurphy2110 I was also at that show! Absolutely killer!
“The albums are just a preview of what the next tour/concert will be” - Miles Davis. And that’s quite alright 😂 I hope they visit my town sometime
What a fucking treasure. I have no words!!!!
Stella is from another planet
the sound engineer is a king
Well, it’s Nigel Godrich. So yeah.
This band is straight up magical, the talent and the connection they have is from outerspace and their songs are some of the most beautiful creations ever made. My fav band💚
Emily and Theresa obviously used the last 4-5 years to work with a vocal coach. That's not a diss. They sound incredible. They both used to flat notes on the regular but that's clearly not a problem now. I love Warpaint!
I noticed the flatting out of notes in old videos but my guess is they did it on purpose (at least some of the time) to sound punk-y. But I agree, they sound better than ever here. I heard an interview where Stella said that because of COVID, Emily and Theresa ended up getting more time to work on the vocal tracks for Radiate Like This than on previous albums. They might have learned something in the process.
I literally screamed lol. I'm so happy
wow they look and sound better than ever
one of the best bands of all time and completely unappreciated
Funky drummer, crazy good👊
That drum player is so precise with so mucho groove, love that!
Stella from down unda
I watched them play live a few days ago, they made me feel so lucky to be alive.
This performance has moved Warpaint into my top 5 favorite bands of all time. Good job, ladies.
That ending to Bees was so awesome. I could listen to a whole album of that
there is just talent radiating from every member in this band, it's stunning really
26:36 Heavenly harmony. Enough to make a man believe in angels.
I got a heart attack seeing the notification for this. Their perfornances just get better and better. Thabk you so much for this treat.
This mix is amaziiing. The bass sounds so gooood. Everything sounds so forward in the mix but still has so much space for everything else to come through
I doubt I'll ever get the chance to see Warpaint play live, so this was really special for me. I was transfixed for 35 minutes. Didn't want it to end. This version of "Keep it healthy" was incredible. Stella is an amazingly precise drummer. Jenny's bass grooves are awesome, and something amazing happens when Theresa and Emily's voices combine and move in and out of phase.....hard to put into words. The harmonies on "Melting" are so sublime. I couldn't love these girls more. Outstanding !!
Nigel, We gotta get these sessions printed on wax, they are so well engineered and the artists all top notch. Would love these on my turntable.
Stella’s drumming is sooooo insanely good! So much groove 🔥🔥
This band keeps expanding their abilities, presentation, songwriting, their singing, especially on Melting is incredible.
Best version of Keep it Healthy ever 🥺🥺🥺
I agree. Theresa's guitar was amazing. It felt more soulful, and as much as I love the album version, this version was better
10+ years later and I'm still head over heels for Jennylee (and TT)
didn't think i could like this band more than i already do but then they improvised a song about how trains are cool
Wow, they sound so good in this set, Emily's voice has found a new peak
That vocal run from 27:44-28:04 is HEAVENLY.
Theresa Wayman is the perfect mix of pure beauty and unadulterated talent.
Sound quality and the mix is excellent, well done guys.
oh god, "hard to tell you" is absolutely awesome. This version is even better than on the album, Emily's voice is ahead of the music and it's so much better
I really really hope everyone does themself a favor and gives this a headphone listen. Normal tv speakers and god forbid mobile phone or laptop speakers can't do this justice. And the functional mushroom adds the algorithm keeps serving me are horrifiningly on point. 😂
Stella's drumming is soooooo good, the whole band is sooo good, love them!!
I have watched this so many times now. I cannot help but feel that this set, with these amazing women is one of the greatest happenings in the history of rock and roll. This is hands down simply amazing music.
"Hard to tell you" was amazing. I've been a fan of Emily's singing for 12 years.
I'm crying I cannot wait to see you guys live in a few weeks. You have no idea the struggles warpaints music has helped me get through. Their discography is entirely the soundtrack to my life. 🖤
Update: so I cried as soon as you all came out. What an emotional experience. Thank you so much 🖤
Fuck fuck fuck… just perfect. You sound perfect, the audio guys nailed it and maybe this format suits you, your voices, the drum and the bass… fuck fuck fuck. Thank you all.
Best live performance of Warpaint ever. Keep it Healthy is such a perfect song
I'm sorry don't know her name, but the drummer is incredibly skilled. Very creative beats and great feel. Scrolls down: Stella. Great playing.
You know who she jams with sometimes? The RHCP. Flea LOVES this band.
So did John Frusciante…Emily’s playing his old Jaguar
Very like Phil Selway in Radiohead, The whole band exudes a Radiohead vibe with great melodies odd time signatures and incredible vocals. The whole package is stellar.

Just discovered this band, killer band! Solid drummer!
This is something I've wanted for at least a decade. Thanks, Nigel and crew!
Best band ever! They all did a really amazing job. But I do want to add that Stella is always amazing and pretty flawless. But this particular set she is so in the pocket and her dynamics and subtle things she does. Just perfection!
Each time I listen to this the subtleties of her drumming get better and better. Pure artistry.
Loved it. Drums blew me away.
with this session it became apparent for me that, radiate like this is their best work to date.
the sounds!!! they sound so clear and good ?? also kudos to the band. holy shit the double singing in keep it healthy? insane, they sound like doubled tracks
Them playing Intro to set up Keep It Healthy is such a wonderful treat.
Better every year - best all female band. So talented. those bass lines..
Stella Mozgawa is one of the best drummers in the biz. Serves the songs the way McGerr does.
