  • Never seen a manure removal system like that, fancy smancy. So refreshing to see someone who is not afraid of a little manual labor, you rock...🙂

  • Man, you are a gamer. Cleaning out the gutter by shovel and laying the gutter chain and paddles, all the while doing it with a smile, even when you ran out of chain links at the end. You are one of a kind, in a good way. Brent is extremely fortunate to have you. Take care.

  • I am so relieved that your done with that after all this time. I know about gutter cleaners and all of the problems. My dad had absolutely no tolerance or patience for it not working perfectly. He was frugal but not about the gutter cleaner. No expense was spared to get the barn cleaned. He had no patience with messing around for that long. I am so happy you can use your time now to do other things.

  • Im 72 and remember having to shovel manure from gutter to a wheel barrow then out the door up a board ramp and dumping it into a pile in the winter twice a day while the cows were still in their stantions . Couldnt wait til spring when the girls (68 ) of them could go out for the day . Then oh maybe in the early 70's we reconstructed the system and had a gutter cleaner installed that dumpped into the spreader . Had to be carefull not to let it get frozen up though. BUT there was always the calf part of the barn and bull pen to clean manually

  • Great job. Lots of hard work. I chuckled to myself while you were shoveling the gutter. Reminded me of the way my cousins and I used to do our barn. All by hand. Hard work, especially in the winter when we had to do it every day. Sure brought back memories. Have a great day and God Bless.

    • Welcome!! Yes we have pretty much every dairy breed imaginable 😅. I personally prefer a Holstein/ashyire cross. Or Jersey/Holstein cross because they have good butterfat while also having improved milk quantity. They are also very hardy not to mention sweet as can be!! However as far as looks I LOVE the speckled linebacks!! They are wonderful grazers and very intelligent. They produce almost as much as a Holstein maybe a bit less, with decent butterfat as well. Unfortunately they do have an attitude problem 😂 Hope this helps, I could go on and on about cows! I just love talking about them😁
