  • I think the reason I like these covers so much is they don't feel like covers. She's so far in the pocket the whole time, even though what she's doing is really impressive, that it just only adds to the songs. I feel like often times with covers, the instrumentalist is the focus, but with these cover's it's clear the focus is still on the song. this is such a high level of musicianship it's insane

    • you don't need to shell out a ton of money for a good guitar! at the end of the day, you're using a string to vibrate a magnet. It's not that hard to get it right if you take care when making a guitar, and have the right tools. hell, I'm even making my own guitar at home. high price =/= high value in this world, unfortunately

  • Really admire your improvisational skills! I didn't realize that this much activity was going on under this particular song. As a bass player for about 50 years, I started out with the belief that the bass was an accompanying instrument and one that keeps the bottom tight and full, sort of a foundation of the music body. Now, it is used in many other facets including leading and directing the music. My love for music and dedicated musicians still grows! Thank you for sharing your skills. Would love to see you in concert some day. Love the lady bass players all around the world!

    • I dont believe bass should always be straight 8th notes, bass is suppose to be something that make the song beautiful, something that can make the song interesting. Something that i dont really like is overused bass riff/fills, sure it sounds cool but im not gonna listen to the same riff for 3 or 4 mins. Do something different with the riff and make it more interesting while also keeping that riff going. For fills come up with something different for each chorus or verse. I believe this is how you make good music, with good band and voice with cool bass line will make any song good.

It stirred something up in me as always with your other videos. Thank you Julia. Thanks for being an inspiration. Your playing is truly amazing and you are really an awesome bassist whom I look up to so much! ❤

  • What Anderson Paak does with drums, Julia pulls off the same with her Bass: it's so IN THE POCKET!! 🔥🔥🔥❤️ To all non bass players out there: playing notes is something one can learn BUT playing with this feel and groove is just pure talent and dedication. Love it, Julia (also can't wait for the Silk Sonic album to be released)

  • Dope licks without "overdoing" it. Really nice...especially given the adventure that is this song's chord/key changes. Also, I very much appreciated your willingness to sustain notes and not just "show off" nonstop as so many instrumentalists do in solos. Clearly you have a great musical/melodic feel.

  • I gave up listening to secular music about 10 years ago. I caught Julie's cover of a Luther Vandross' song and I have been hooked by her skills every since. Ninety percent of the songs she cover, I have never heard before and probably won't hear them again, but oh how I love a bass guitar, especially if Julie is the musician covering the song.

    • @lindamaynard can I ask you what made you make the decision to give up secular music?

      @indiiebreadkid@indiiebreadkid3 жыл бұрын
    • @@indiiebreadkid Sure, originally I didn't like the way women were being put down in songs and how it made me feel as a black woman. So I began to study the bible intensely. I wanted a deeper relationship with Jesus, I wanted to know more about the person who loved me so much that He gave His life for mine. I wanted to know Him more personally and as intimately as you would know your own spouse. I started off listening to KLove Radio station, where I was living, attending mid-week bible study, Sunday school and regular Sunday service. I fell in love with my Creator and began to love myself the way He sees me and I never felt a need to go back to the former things.
