Ya know, THE VERY THING BUCKY IS STRUGGLING WITH. • see in the comics, bucky also gets pardoned. but there's also a whole ass storyline about his trial, which included them having to prove the existence of mind control. and for a good bit, it seemed like they would lose the case. I guess he really wasn't pardoned, he was just ultimately found not guilty. then he gets extradited to russia where he gets sent to a gulag and has to fight a bear. but the point is, the mcu just glosses over that whole process with "oh he got pardoned" where originally you get to see how in the hell that actually happened. I get it would be hard to fit into the movies if they didn't want to do a whole thing about it, but it still would've been nice.

    @HPGIRL1109@HPGIRL11092 жыл бұрын
    • Surely it wouldn't be too hard in the MCU though right? They have literal documented cases of mind control thanks to Loki and the scepter from the first Avengers movie. I would imagine the debate would be less on whether mind control does exist, and more so whether Bucky was definitively mind controlled or did so of free will.

      @Th3D3vilishBoy@Th3D3vilishBoy2 жыл бұрын
    • @@Th3D3vilishBoy yeah, if they had done that storyline they would've had to change quite a bit (which they do for every storyline they adapt to the movies so it's to be expected anyways). like the person they called to the stand that really did prove the existence of mind control was a character that isn't in the mcu (well...I think a version of him was in agent carter, but that still doesn't really work). or y'know...steve being there. plus it was a bigger deal in the comics because it took place after bucky became captain america, and then it was revealed to the public that he had been the winter soldier. either way we still didn't get bucky fighting the russian bear so net loss for us. Maybe not as many people as those who knew Tony was Iron man, but still a lot of people, including ALL the government officials knew Iron Patriot was Rhodey. So saying they won't be a black man be a patriotic figure such as Captain America is kinda bullshit by the universe's own rules. Besides, no one irl thinks Sam being captain America is bad because of his race. The only reasons anyone would complain about it is because a) they wanted Bucky to be Captain America or b) they wish Steve didn't get off'd and neither of those reasons have to do with race. The whole race issue regarding Captain America feels so manufactured and forced just so that Disney can have their relevant woke points amidst all the BLM race stuff going on in America, and the fact that people seem to be blatantly ignoring that is both hypocritical and mildly upsetting.

And that DOESN'T WORK because it's the same bloody abilities. Sure, it took Dr Strange a while to be able to make a portal due to hands/not believing, but Ned made a random hand gesture and wasn't even thinking about making a portal and STILL got the sparks? And then made the portal to Garfield with only a couple of attempts. Fix your magic explanations Marvel!

  • There is so much wrong with this show. On the surface it seems like it is tackling important issues, but in reality it is aiming to please both sides and is actually giving confused messages. I am not being very clear, but I suggest anyone who for some reason thinks that this show was "socially and politically important" to watch this video by "Kay and Skittles" that goes by the name of "The Ideology Of Falcon And The Winter Soldier", as it shows perfectly how this show is not at all as progressive as it wants to appear. P.S- I really wish they had given the Bucky's confession to Yori more screen time.

    @probablyalive.2665@probablyalive.26652 жыл бұрын
    • This is a fair criticism of pretty much all media or political individuals that try and be progressive. Simply put, being fair to both sides isn't possible. There are facts, which prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that things like exploitation of the working class, climate change and systematic racism do exist, and than there are a bunch of people who are offended by those facts because they are literally the snowflakes that they claim everyone else is. Actually there is also a large portion of people that genuinely believe there's a reasonable conservative argument for any political or economic policy despite their states being welfare states from the rich blue ones, having child marriage laws that are 100% immoral and disgusting and are very much a theocratic party in a country that is meant to be free from a religious state.

    • Completely agree with you, man. To be, the entire storyline about Sam's struggle as a black Captain America looks kind of forced. Even in the series, it was never about public opinion being against Sam, only about him not being authorised by the government. Which is kind of legit since Sam belonged to the Avengers who rejected the governent acts. Isaiah's backstory feels farfetched the same way. I'm aware it's kind of comic accurate but still feels like he exists only as a forced martyr of mistreatment. Black or not, I severely doubt any government would use an almost complete supersoldier as a labrat and then throw in jail for literally no reason.

  • The thing about the MCU is that it is all about missed opportunities to do something plausible yet Original. The First Thor Movie and Captain America Movie opened up the idea as to what would A Human Super Soldier be like if they were turned into an Asgardian via Enchantment and the Serum that was originally designed for Humans gets modified to fit an Asgardian. They later teased it in Endgame when Cap picks up Mjolnir but never followed through with it.
