In this video, we introduced dozens of example sentences for "want" and "want to verbs," which are commonly used in everyday conversation. In English, a sentence always requires a subject, but in Japanese conversation, the subject is often omitted. Also, although the video uses polite expressions, "desu" is omitted in casual expressions in Japanese.
For example)①わたしはリンゴがほしいです。→りんごがほしい。
  ②わたしはりんごをたべたいです。→りんごをたべたい。

  • The negative sentences for "want" are "〜ほしくないです" and "〜ほしくありません" are both correct. Negative sentences of "want to do" are both "~したくないです" and "~したくありません" are correct. The interrogative particle of "want" is complicated. For example)①りんごがほしいですか。②りんごはほしいですか。 Both ① and ② are correct, but they have different nuances. Generally, ① "りんごが" is used, but if there is an option other than apples, ② "りんごは" is used. It is difficult for beginners to understand how to use "は" and "が", so it is better to learn to use "が".

  • Great examples today! Also, thanks for using Boku in some places - it's not always easy to find examples of that.

    • People who use ``boku'' are boys and young men. In Japanese videos for beginners, I mainly use ``watashi'' to avoid confusion for viewers.
