The Colonel & The Fox | A Mossy Oak Documentary

2024 ж. 2 Сәу.

We are thrilled to announce our first ever feature length documentary, The Colonel & The Fox.
One of the most special projects in Mossy Oak's history, this film chronicles the story of turkey hunting history and the revival of the wild turkey told through the lives of two woodsmen who have become icons of turkey hunting, conservation, and cherished outdoor family traditions.
In the 1940s, wild turkeys and the proud traditions of those who hunt them were on the brink of extinction. In what would become known as America's greatest conservation success story, the Greatest Generation returned home from war and decided to do something about it.
This film celebrates the life and legacy of these men and the rest of turkey hunting's greatest generation. When the last of them are gone, it's up to us as gamekeepers, turkey hunters, and stewards of hunting culture to not only carry on their legacy, but pass these traditions along.
We're grateful to everyone who shares in this story and takes the time to watch. We hope you're inspired to spend more time in the woods and to love the land and wildlife that call it home, and to leave it all better than you found it.

  • *I don't know if this will reach anyone's heart, or minds, but I hope you all watch this video with open hearts and realize just how blessed and fortunate we are today to see, let alone hunt the wild turkey. This is a great parallel I believe to what Jesus has done for all of us in this life. We were on the brink of extinction, just like the wild turkey was on the brink of being no more, Jesus found us and rescued us and brought us life anew. I'm blessed to say that I've been given 23 years of chasing thunder in the Spring woods, along with my father, and Lord willing, this will be our 24th year together. To all my fellow turkey hunters and all of those who are outdoor enthusiasts, I wish you an amazing Spring and may God continue to bless you and your families!*

Mossy Oak has been a part of my life from the first day I stepped on the MSU campus in 1987. Thank you for making this documentary and reminding me what true Turkey Hunting is, respect for the animal and the people who helped them make a comeback. He made his own mouth calls using bottle caps and prophylactic material and whittled box calls out of fat lighter. I still have these items, they are priceless to me. • As a father, raising boys, I realize how important it is to leave a legacy for them. I am the first generation hunter in my family. I am addicted to all types of hunting, but turkey season is by far the one that gets me the most excited. I took my oldest boy with me last spring for his first hunt of any kind at 7 years old. We had 2 jakes come in to 15 yards gobbling their heads off. He was shaking and his heart was pounding. I have not shot a jake in years, but took one to complete the experience for him. After the shot he ripped his face mask down and jumped up screaming "We got it dad". He came to me a couple weeks ago and said no jakes allowed this year. He said he wants to see a big one. I do believe he is hooked. Watching this and the legacy created by the Kelly and Haas family has me balling my eyes out thinking about my own boys. Thank you for your legacy Mr. Fox and Col. Kelly. I will be playing this for my 8 year old son soon. Love you all and God Bless.
