🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

  • This whole series has been a good example of how government practices & mentalities don’t always represent the views, feelings, & attitudes of its people. There are so many kind, friendly, open, giving people who live in countries where they have to live with attitudes, rules & edicts that go against or don’t represent their personal values. Just because a government is corrupt it doesn’t mean the people are, I know where I live that’s definitely a sentiment much of the public shares. I appreciate Sonny being so honest & open. I also am thankful he didn’t let the bad experiences taint his perspective & kept searching for the positives!

Usually they have limited internet access so communication with the outside world isn't all too often (plus they get to avoid all of the drama and their emotions aren't being oversaturated by media)

That is a TINY portion of the US. I’ve been all over this country, and traveled abroad, and even in those seemingly “rude” places I have rarely encountered rude people. However, most people in the US are hardworking, friendly, helpful, and downright caring. North Carolina, Kentucky, West Va, Ohio, Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Nevada, San Diego- not to mention Georgia and South Carolina- from one end to the other there are millions of kind people with good souls and open hearts who welcome strangers… exactly as Sonny has shown all over the world. The US is absolutely no different. Peace

  • My favorite part of this series; when you spent time with actual people, true Egyptians, they treated you with a manner of respect. This episode in particular. I wish the police and government interactions you had would not have distracted from the moments like this, but you wouldn't be able to tell the story of YOUR Egypt trip without them. Every interaction in this episode makes me want to spend time there, but knowing all the other events that transpired really cements the "Yea, no." for me.

    • @Jacko Sargs You say that like the police in the west are much better, they are just less blatant about bribery. The people in these less well off countries have a viable reason to accept bribes, as their pay just isn't even enough for them to survive. While in places like the US where police STILL take bribes(even though they get paid more than enough to survive, it is purely greed). Its just hypocritical saying you wouldn't have these problems in the West, as there are still many many gangs all over the west.

The limitation of these phones are generally on low light (which is already pretty capable) and limited camera controls like aperature for example. • Now, as half egyptian and half german, i have to thank you for your honest review of egypt. I have just been there 6 weeks ago, for the first time in Cairo again since a decade ago. Every single bit, was about local officials driven to drain the last cent out of your pocket. It is a shame. The government and the military apparatus is getting richer while the middle and lower class is getting poorer with an unprecedented speed. In the 90s and 80s the public was proud to be egyptian and there was a great kindness amongst people, now they are afraid of the greedy officials. And what you didn’t show in your videos, is the amount of dirt and garbage lying around, and no one gives a shit about. The citizens are so poor they dont care about the surrounding, even at the pyramids, where you now pay hundreds of pounds to buy a ticket, the government is letting it rotten and going down the shithole. I have no intention of visiting Cairo again in my lifetime, although i used to live there for nearly 8 years. And yes i also had to turn in my drone, and was treated like a badass drug dealer at the airport, and i dont know where i would have ended if i wouldn’t have paid over 400 euros in bribe. Egypt is loosing it culture and history right at the moment, and the government is only worried about filling their pockets.

    • @Muay Thai-kickboxe-MMA they're innocent because their secluded from the rest of the ravaged world. They seem to be doing just fine without the internet and probably even better. I was the generation they were prepping for computers, they even took me and five other students out of class for computer class but they lied to all those little kids telling us how much free time we were going to have when the robots were going to be working for us supposedly LOL but my life is way more complicated and I end up doing my work twice now that I have to deal with the robots. Sure I don't have to run all the way to the library and look in the index cards because I can just look it up real quick but I'd gladly give it up for even that old world that wasn't quite perfect but sooo much better. People laugh when they go into a home with siblings texting each other when they're in the same room but won't talk to each other, I don't think there's anything funny about it, I wonder how long it's going to take to lose our ability to speak. You'll say that I'm here using the technology right? yeah that's true I've been forced into it just to keep a job to keep a roof over my head so I might as well enjoy some of it for myself, even though I think I should ween myself off and go back to my older self where I used to give myself time to paint, write and be creative instead of wasting my time here even though I tell myself it's just my way to debrief from the outside world when I get home. I would be very happy without technology even if It meant that I had to wash my clothes by hand, I've done it before and it wasn't the worst thing I've ever had to do. I've known some friends that came from similar salt of the earth cultures who did get corrupted and they lost their charm. One more thing, many people who are in love with technology and don't see its downfall ignore that so much of that electricity is non-compatible with out biosystems and it's not only causing more deceases but it's creating disntegration within our own body that we pass on to each other as we're not interchanging energy at an equal quality exchange with our robots. I was surprised to see Bert Wolfe from the travel channel do a whole episode about how terrible iPads and Phones are affecting children, I was also very proud of him for addressing something most people don't want to hear or address.

  • This series actually makes me quite sad. I visited Egypt in October of 2010 and had an amazing experience. I really had no plan except to see the Pyramids and go to Dahab, which I accomplished. I was hoping to return soon, but I think I can say "I have been there, done that" and put my sights on going elsewhere.

    • Sometimes bad experience and misunderstanding happens anywhere in the world that doesn't mean that it's a rule or the same 'll happens to you each year, millions comes to Egypt and enjoy their stay to the max you're welcome to come back and see for yourself

    • You are always welcomed to be back again anytime you would like to Heather. It is mainly the regime that are recently so suspicious about anyone with a camera in general and foreigner particularly especially if they take pics randomly in the street. I guess from the first page you can tell people are kinda so helpful and kind but it's the current authority there which doesn't represent people at all. Wish to see you there again.

    • I really didn’t like Egypt when I went the first time although I found the history extremely fascinating, but the second time my opinion totally changed. Its just super fun to be there and the people are just funny. You just have to accept it for what it is and go with the flow.

    • @Jacko Sargs 1-Commoners should only worry about studying pre-approved knowledge (education), working, paying taxes, consuming, drinking and watching reality TV and/or sports .. NOT to make films. 2-Commoners need to carry a charged smart phone (a phone with an enabled a camera, GPS and a microphone) at all times.
