Creating A Room With A View Of A French Château. Ep10
This week at the chateau,
we follow Tony, clearly the mess from one large hole he made in the cottage, and follow him creating another in the roof, with some major DIY. First he needs to clear the mud, straw and wood from the opening he made in the last episode ready for the staircase to go in.
This week the cottage gets some major renovation work, creating two new Dorma windows replicating the ones on the Château and on the barn. The final work Tony has created is unbelievably good and has created some fantastic views over the french countryside and the beautiful Château De Lalacelle.

About us and our story
We are a family from Middlesbrough in the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

Not only is Tony a workhorse, he loves the Cottage and the Château. You feel his love to revive these old buildings. His motivation and work ethic come from a place of deep love and admiration. It is very touching. To see how you bring the grand ol’ ladies back to life is very touching. Keep cracking on. It is so joyful to follow all of you building your dream.
Tony, You should be so proud of your most professional work ethic. My Dad instilled this as best he could. It was his generation that changed the world. They were a very strong people, solid workers, and cared so much for their fellow man. Betterment of society. 😊

Another fantastic update. Tony's work on those dormers is fantastic - wonderful to see such craftsmanship and pride in his work - but also the attempt to mimic the existing dormers on the chateau. That upstairs space looks amazing now that it's flooded with light, and the views aren't shabby either!!

You're lucky to have Tony on the job. He's a workhorse and a craftsman! The two don't always go hand-in-hand. Love seeing the views from the new dormers, and those exposed beams/rafters are absolutely gorgeous! We can see and appreciate them so much better now with all the light streaming in!

WOW! Speechless. It is amazing how much quality work can be done by one hard working man. Chateau renovation is not for fainthearted it is for Tony's alike. That cottage is going to be absolutely marvellous. Can't wait to see the result.
100% one either has to have the know how to do that carpentry or be able to pay through the roof to get that work done. No easy or cheap way about it. Those dormer windows would cost $15.000-$20.000/ each here in Sydney.

Professional painting & staining tips: 1. Always start at the top and work your way down. This will help you catch drips and "Holidays" caused by painting upwards. 2. Use a larger brush to make the job go faster. A small brush requires many more strokes and many more dips.

Tony, it is good to see you getting more comfortable in front of the camera. You are doing such amazing work, and we want to hear all about the plans and process. By the way, I am definitely not going to climb that ladder to the scaffolding, but if I did, I most certainly would not climb using only one hand. Country side is so nice and green. Early this year for some areas. Dormers add space and some offer window seats to enjoy the scenery. Using a small motor and hooking up a bale conveyor can rid the area quicker of debris. Simple system, cheap to make and debris can be shovelled onto the conveyor to outdoors to move later. Some people now use solar power for electric . Some older balers have conveyors on the side of them and are just rusting in fields. Putting them to use provides moving things easier. Merely suggesting . Saves on physical fatigue! Later! Nice job!
