Scenes of jubilation played out at the site of the collapsed apartment building in George in the Western Cape, as a worker was retrieved alive from the rubble.
The Head of Disaster Management in the Western Cape says there have never, as far as he can recall, been as many live rescues from such a scene in South Africa.
