Thanks for this episode. I'm a modern law enforcement officer who is descended from a long line of law enforcement going back to before American independence, with both my Native and European American ancestors. I recently discovered that a cousin of one of my Cherokee ancestor that was alive (and remained behind in North Carolina) during Indian Removal had a brother that survived the Trail of Tears and his son later became a member of the US Indian Police and was a deputy US Marshall in the Indian Territory. It's pretty awesome that this guy would have known Sam Sixkiller, Ned Christie and Bass Reeves - all of whom are personal heroes of mine. I may not be directly descended from him, but a cousin is still family.
That is some amazing lineage. Also, I appreciate you and what you do. Thanks for keeping our people safe.
gat damn what a hell of a legacy. thank you for your service
I actually have a ‘Marshall’ badge from the frontier town Deadwood, South Dakota. My grandparents bought it for me and it remains stuck to a picture frame that contains all five of us in front of Rushmore.
That's awesome!
Thanks for the history lesson! I actually have my Great-great-great grandfather's badge from when he served as town marshal. I keep it proudly displayed!
Whoa cool!!!
3:26 wow thats a handsome badge i may steel that
The heard part is finding the top piece. Not sure where he found that.
Great video. My wife’s great great grandfather was a real Texas Ranger. Salute
Very cool!
This is what I love about the old west. It’s like here is what they did or not. Lots of room for interpretation. Also tell Rex smoking is bad. he might go extinct.
I will let Rex know. Maybe he will vape instead.
Always love these videos! Great work!
thanks!
Once again, I’ve learned new things. Thanks, Santee!!
You're welcome.
Dustin it's great see you! How's life?
Woohoo new episode!
I really love your channel and it can be funny
It surely can.
Great video as always!!!!!👍🏽
I appreciate it.
I have a collection from when I played with SASS. My favorite is a railroad cops badge.. if you were on the train you were in his jurisdiction. He would hand you off in the nearest town or toss your butt off the train,
That sounds interesting. Have to look into that.
As someone who's background is in criminal justice, I've always had a liking for those old style badges. I just wish I could afford to buy some. Thanks for the cool video on those, Santee.
You're welcome, Rich. Thanks for helping take care of the law!
Great episode Santee! I will admit the clip of the guy saying badges is pretty funny!
It is
Thank you. I always wondered where and how badges came to be.
Another great job 👍🏼🤠 FYI Ranger Badges are still made from Mexican Paso’s (Huntsville Prison).🤠
Great video as always! I truly loved seeing the Confederate Terry's Texas Rangers badge. They were the 8th Texas Cavalry CSA. Their last battle occurred about an hour and a half from me near Smithfield NC at the Battle of Bentonville. They gave that Yankee Kilpatrick hell. Terry's Texas Rangers are one of my favorite Cavalry units. Instead of a sword they carried a Texas d-guard Bowie knife that was half as long as a sword. I have seen one that was approximately 2 feet long. They also carried at least 2 revolvers and a sawed off double barrelled shotgun. Sorry for such a long post. Keep the videos coming my friend.
Fascinating history there, Eric. Thanks for sharing.
Poor Santee sprung a leak 🤣😂 THAT STINK'N BADGE DONE POKED YOU PARTNER
Thanks to everyone that sent my hubby photos and/or information this week!
Thank you, Santee. This was really interesting. I love that clip.
You're welcome!!
While pinning it on some blood was spilled and so it was planned he would command F-Troop.
Yeah!!! Nice memory.
I have been to the Texas ranger museum in Waco literally walls of guns not that that was my favorite part lol. But very good place to learn about frontier law.
I hope to go one day.
Do a video about northern Mexico or I will re ignite the Haitian war of independence
Wow. Uh....ok. Didn't know they had a war to begin with!
Arizona Ghostriders well I had to do a report on Dominican Republic so that’s my excuse for knowing
Manuel Hurtado or famous mexican cowboys from the wild west there was quit a bit in California that would be nice to know
@@francisco4benites Yeah, we'll do one on Vaqueros, too.
A badge is a thing of joy. I have a collection of them. Dr. K
Oh yeah!!! Cool.
Another great entertaining and informative short vid. Thanks Santee, I’m always looking forward to new Az ghostriders
You're welcome.
Hey Santee, great video as always. Yesterday I was watching The Comancheros with John Wayne, where he played a Texas ranger. I’ve seen it so many times I could probably recite the entire script! By the way, I am finally caught up with all of your past videos. Now I have to watch the reruns. Maybe one day I recited your videos!
Wow!! That's impressive.
I always smile when I watch this channel! Thanks guys!
I love that first clip. Another great episode, thank you.
You're welcome.
Love it!
Awesome!
Very interesting as usual! Thanks for posting!
You're welcome
Always great content!
Appreciated!
Another great video Santee. Thanks
You’re welcome
Excellent, excellent, excellent. Thanks for another great video!
You're welcome, Ralph!
Great video! Badges have always interested me for some reason, good to learn more about some of the different types
They are hugely collectible, too.
I'm kind of partial to badges. I've got a collection of badges and patches in my office. It originally started with places I've worked and branched out to many other places. First time you pin that badge is different kind of feeling. You stand in front of the mirror for what seemed like hours; looking at that badge and thinking about the gravity of what you are going to be doing.
I imagine it is a great feeling. Thank you for your service!
@@ArizonaGhostriders Thank you Santee.
Amen
Very cool!
Thanks.
Great video, Santee 😊👍🏻
Thanks!
Thanks agina! Just amazing! 🤠👏
Much appreciated
Great video..love the old west history!
Thanks.
This channel deserves more subscribers!
Thanks!
I have a great collection of replica badges from the old west.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks
You're welcome.
I have spent a lot of time watching documentary's and educational programming on the American West and through the years I have never seen a more educational and entertaining channel then the Arizona Ghostriders. Imagine how much more students would get out of their history class with a little bit of humor. I'm 60 now and still remember the name of my senior years Western Expansions professor who lite the flame in me for the American West. I'm certain that if Santee would have been my educator back then I would have pursued this as my life's passion on a professional level instead of just being a fella who drinks and knows stuff🤠
Well, thanks much Rusty. By the way, I am also a guy who drinks and knows stuff!
Great stuff, as usual. What a great way to start my weekend by watching a new Arizona Ghostriders video. *:-)*
Thank you!
I wish I had my deceased brothers badge from when he was a Yuma County, AZ. Deputy Sheriff. Good video Santee!
Sorry for his loss, but thankful for his service!
Have you tried contacting the Sheriff? All he can say is no. If you explain the circumstances to him, maybe he’ll say yes.
Sometimes they can encase it in Lucite or thick plastic so it cannot be worn anymore. Just an idea to negotiate. Also If sheriffs change, don't be afraid to re-approach the topic.
@@straycat62 Never asked but I will ask my sister in law if she has it! Thanks Joe! 😃
Great stuff Santee
Thanks.
Thanks, another good start for Saturday
You're welcome.
I love this.
Thank You!
I am The Grass Man and I wish I had a badge for my grass
I have an authentic 1880s era badge that I intend to pass on to my son. Interesting video.
That is very cool. I'd love to see it.
My Daughter just got her own badge from a county in the PNW!!! 👍🏾😀❤️🇺🇸
Congrats!
For some strange reason i really looking forward to saturdays ;) Great Video and great information.. Great work Santee:)
Thanks, much, Bucklerbjorn!
Awesome vid
Thank you!
SUPER DUPER ! I`m gonna have to look into getting me a few ....TOO COOL ! Thank you Santee :-)
You're welcome.
Just bought one from one of the sites you had linked! Great video, very informative.
Hope you enjoy it!
always informative great stuff
Thanks!
Thanks for the information about badges in the Old West, Santee
You're welcome
Could you do a video on the Civil War
Well, that's tricky. It was a different period in our history that wasn't the Old West. Is there something particular you want to see? I can try to integrate the info
I swear if I had an assignment about the Old West I could just literally come to you and bam, I’m done.
I would definitely find the answers for you (if I didn't know)
great vid "amigo", thanks so much Cheese! …. and now I understand the Instagram pic :-)
HA! Awesome.
That’s pretty cool
Is this a new Arizona Ghostriders video? I guess I got to put on my happy badge.
Lol!
Another great video! I found an old Chauffeurs Badge from Kansas detecting here in California.
So cool! I've been seeing a lot of those in antique stores.
well I'm so happy to find a channel that is both educational and informative. So now that I am a subscriber please can you do a video on the different styles of saddles from the old west to Hollywood my favorite of course is the McClellan Saddle so please do your best thanks.
Did one! kzhead.info/sun/d6mAm5uArYh8lnk/bejne.html Thanks for subbing!
You really know your stuff!
Sometimes. I have to research a lot!
Hello from Perth Western Australia
Oh thank you and welcome!
Another excellent video Santee ! ., I think when the movie " The Treasure of Sierra Madre " is mentioned that scene is the first one that comes to mind. All you guys and gals are great at portraying your personas but " Dirty Dan " is my most favorite ( he reminds me of me ) . Keep up the good work Y'all !.
Thanks.
Didn't know about the pre-1936 Texas Rangers badges. Thanks for the education👍
You bet
Thanks for sharing new friend here watching
My little brother surprised me for my birthday last month with an antique pinkerton sergeant badge. I don't want to know what it cost him but it's behind glass now haha
That's exciting.You are fortunate!
Howdy Santee! This is good one ! Star packers, peso packers ! About the peso I read somewhere that the name came has you describe from Mexican coins, great has always.See you down the trail. And thanks.
You're welcome, Marco!
while i doubt youll see this on such a old video, thanks for convincing me to watch the treasure of the sierra Madre, great movie.
Thanks.
@@ArizonaGhostriders oh. Well I bite my tongue Sante, didn't expect you to see that.
"You a lawman?" Old TV western villain cliche !
i would say i don't need no stinkin' badges, but i own a few. great video as always.
0:22 I always luv that scene. It never fails me to make me laugh. XD
good!
This was so interesting. Once again a fabulous video. TFS my friend. Diane
Thank you!
Nice to see that Civil Air Patrol uniform at 0:46. One of the best programs I had the honor of being a part of before I joined the Air Force. By the way, I don’t remember if I had asked this already, but do you think you could do an episode on fire departments and fire fighting?
I will definitely do one. Gotta get some footage of historical firehouses and equipment first.
The suspension badges are pretty cool. So some badges were made out of coins? Thats awesome! Did you order that custom badge? Have a great weekend my friend
No, I didn’t order that badge. Just for fun.
I am half asleep with coffee, I thought this was going to be about old west baggage.
LOL!!!!
Longhair Jim Courtright must have been known as Marshall Shorthair Tim when that photo was taken.
That name always got to me with this photo. Like Buckskin Frank Leslie is not wearing buckskins in his photos.
I wore a badge when I drove a cab in SF
Cool!
Those 14 lawmen at 134 have the AGR logo behind them as a show of respect for the danger their job must have had Liked!
Yes!
Hey Santee, would you recommend the Elpaso Saddlery Cheyenne rig as being historically accurate and authentic? Love the videos, I hope tho channel really grows!!😁
Yes, I would. My first rig was El Paso Saddlery.
Santee can You do a video on old west belt setups (gun knife and other accessories) Randolph Slumber
Yep
Oh, that's going to leave a scar.
Just a small one.
Great vid Santee, can you do one on dressing the part: the stable boy
The stable boy? Well, not a whole vid. I mean, a pair of pants and a shirt/vest would be all you'd need. They may have shoes instead of boots. They'd also be kinda dirty from the work.
Thanks, im trying to help a freind with a costume for the stable in our western town. Your channel has been a huge help to us in building and getting small details that help keep everything time period.
Can you do one on gloves?
OK!
Absolutely awesome video. Belly laughing and smiling from ear to ear. If they give out awards for Utube video excellence the you folks should be top dog. We have to spread the word high & low to get you more subs. "The More Smoke Gang".
More Smoke Gang, you folks are alright in my book! Thank you much.
"Badges we dont need no stinnkin badges " a man
Santee goes to Aussie next...I hope..love these vids mate.
HA! Well, it probably won't be until next year. Know any groups out your way I can do a profile on?
what sort of groups?facebook groups?..im stoopid remember
@@swimasfastasyoucan Reenactment groups in your area that you can go watch do their shows.
@@ArizonaGhostriders I will have an investigation and get back to you on this
Next year for Women's History month, a piece on _The Harvey Girls_ might be a good one.
Well, I believe you are right. With cameos from Judy Garland (and Bill Brazelton).
Ok, i had my headphones on, and then suddenly the mail drops and makes the sound, i felt like i had a heart attack Love your vids by the way
HA! Thanks.
Great job as all’s way
Thanks
Thanks for Your video. So is stinkin badges the online store
Oh heck, those are availale and they are so much fun to wear: www.ebay.com/itm/325692674429
@@ArizonaGhostriders sorry I should have been clear “is the website called “stinkin badges” as I’m not so interested in the stinkin badge at this stage I would like to see which badges have been made as direct copies of exact original badges that would be great to know which ones they are.
How about a video about the breeds of horses used in the old west
The first bag is were made out of 10 a lot of times the sheriff's badge was made either by the sheriff or his kids it did not get to be until the late 1800 when they started making badges I do believe the first badges that were mass-produced was Texas Rangers and US Marshals and then some of them were made out of tin and the reason why you do not see those type badges anymore is because they rusted away I do believe they have a few in a museum somewhere in Texas
I'll try and found out...thanks.
@@ArizonaGhostriders I would like to say thank you for the video I really enjoyed it again meaning to tell you that when I made my comment I do hope you plan on keep making these quality videos have a blessed day
@@crgt4628 Oh, I do. Not stop in me. Love making them and spreading the history.
The beginning of your video was so funny🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Did i see Fred Williamson in one of the clips???😲😲😲 Whoa I actually remember his name😲😲😲 Great content Santee happy Sunday 🦋🦋🦋🦋👍👍👍👍😉😉😉😉😊😊😊😊🌹🌹🌹🌹
Always fun, and great info! How can anyone not like these. What's the address to send in requests?
In the description. Thanks!
Also, Have you seen the ballad of buster Scruggs, for some reason that movie for the second time I watched it , it got me really into old west and frontier stuff
It is a great movie. I love it.
Could you guys do a video in the US Cavalry? I know it isn't your usual video, but they were prevalent through old west railroad towns. And we're often seen guarding trade posts.
absolutely. The Indian Wars were the same period.
