8:41 that Formula One from 2003 looks more fun than this boring F1 2020 that I recently bought. Can't say why, but every here and there one game is just more fun than other games of that era (and not just THAT era).
F1 champ 2006 actually looks so good compared to the other game during that era. I like how they focused on the car and atmosphere in front to give a unique experience
It even look better than 2009-2017
I was thinking the same thing... I never played f1 games but honestly it was more visually striking than many of the newer games. The camera shake and blur all add to make it really believable.
they clearly focused on graphics
It looked almost photo realistic with lower res video with some smooth ghosting for that era, super polished and immersive.

Biggest change was from 1983 to 1984 . 0:50 😂😂
Those Geoff Crammond games were excellent for their time.
Not sure what they had against Grand Prix 3, tho'. From memory, that was the best of the lot.
GP4 is still better than the official game today.
@@ab8jeh Yep. Back when I had a wheel and pedals, and raced karts a lot (before I became far too busy for that stuff), GP4 was easily the closest to reality. A few F1 drivers in the early 2010s said it was the closest thing to F1 at the time, and far superior to the official Codemasters games.
@@ab8jeh both gp4 and f1 99-02 from ea sports are way better than todays f1 games gp4 manual was awesome also :-)

3:23 that is exactly somewhat today f1 cars make sound that's insane.
Everything was arcade except for Geoff Crammond GP 1 to 4. Pure simulation.... hours of testing and adjusting bump stops, rebound, ride height, ratios, brake bias, down force, suspension travel, recording graphs and posting hot laps ...miss the depth
So true. And the AI ist still the best. Much better than those Codemasters Piece of Shit Games.
The EA games were certainly not arcade, but ok.
F1 99-02 by isi / ea sports had better physics than gp4. But gp4 was great aswell.
Absolutely true!!! You had to adapt the car for every single circuit if you wanted to be minimally competitive to play at hight level. Even you must change gear or break by your self. Car setting must be adapted as well in case of rain during the race. It was incredibly exciting!!
I have the Crammond GP4 PC CD-ROM boxset in front of me: Year 2002 Infogrames - Minimum spec: Pentium 2 400mhz, 64mb RAM, 500MB HDD space - and still way more absorbing than 2022 Codemasters. This and Falcon 4 are the undisputed kings of simulation.
1988 Winning Run is insane - looks pretty damn good for being 34 years old! Hell, I'd still play it.

1987's continental circus looks staggering as well. It seemed like it took another 5 years to reach the fidelity they had.

The Geoff Crammond games were just the best Racing games of all time, even back then they still look good in 2020, it's all about the 'feel' not the graphics.
The physics of the Grand Prix series have always been ahead of its time.
Exactly. Other games at that time driving felt like skidding on ice, whereas with the Grand Prix series from Micropose you always had a sense of proper grip, if you got the setup in the right direction. Not just an arcade game, but a proper simulation. At that time the GOAT of F1 racing games.

That's cool. In 1995, me and a couple of friends started to play Grand Prix 2. Thank you for the video ! Would have been nice to know on which plateform each game is running though
there are 3 very important games in history: 1. Pole Position, because it was the first to give a proper F1 feel even if it was the 80s 2. F1 Grand Prix 2 from micropose from 1995, which was a simulator, had all the cars and circuits very detailed 3. Bizarre Creations F1 97 was the first proper F1 game on console, which had a simulation feel to it... the best of them all without any doubt is Grand Prix 2, it was just a masterpiece for its time, it was written in assembly language for higher efficiency, if you don't know what assembly is... is basically a very low level language that takes a heck of long time to write on it, compared to other more modern languages, with the advantage of being the faster and lighter for the hardware, meaning even on primitive hardware from late 2000, the Grand Prix will run smoothly unlike the footage its show in here... where framerate is bad, i can ensure you... because i re-installed it on DOSbox recently that it runs very very well on any computer.
I agree about GP2 & Pole Position, but why F1'97, and not the one with the 95' season? The 97' was finetuning to the previous iteration (which was fantastic).
The Grand Prix series from Micropose was simply fantastic. Spent nights on a weekend with my mates in front of the steering wheel. Great memories.

De 95 pra cá, que os gráficos começaram a ficar aceitáveis!
One of the biggest graphics, scale and game play steps forward was F1 World Grand Prix for de SEGA Dreamcast (that version was exclusive and building from scratch from Video System itself.
